DTU CSE AVg -23-24 Source - college pravesh IIT BHU Ceramic ( Last branch ) The worst you can get at an OLD IIT - avg 23 median - 19 This year there are a lot of students like him due to Lucky shifts in Jan attempt i personally now guys having less than 3k rank in mains not reaching 10k in Adv All because of 31st S2 and 1Feb shifts Leaving Elite IITs for something like DTU is not worth it. Everyone now a days is only watching average packages of NITS and blindly go for them But The alumni network ,culture and Brand value of IITs is unmatchable.

Bhaiya what would you suggest to me : BITS Pilani (mechanical engineering), DTU (mathematics and computing) and IISER Kolkata. I want to go for research and irrespective of college and branch, I will do self study and then go for masters in physics for sure. I want to pursue a career of renewable energy (newer forms like hydrogen etc) or pure research.
If you want to do research blindly pick iiser Kolkata cuz the research environment in iisers is much better than IITs and nits my brother did his bs Ms their and currently pursuing his PhD from Max plank institute Germany

But OBVIOUSLY IIT tag is far far superior. NIT delhi is... kinda a joke in delhi. Many companies visiting DTU/IIITD/NSUT don't visit NIT D. anyone leaving DTU/NSUT/IIITD for NIT D is mostly because they might be getting better branch in NIT D. baaki yeah, He could have gone for IIITD, but the placements of DTU and IIITD are almost the same (as of now). IIITD has better curriculum and professors and best for research after IITD, while DTU has bigger campus, better college life, and better brand value.
