The memories of the howl of a 680z ours had the column mounted electric CAV lolly stick shifters, not the air assist pedestal. I passed my bus test in a 1975 AN68, and was a joy to drive. Well done Steve, a credit to your graft mate
When I drove Atlanteans in the 80's we used to have to sign for a weighty ticket machine daily. The metal box it came in used to provide a step for your left foot as there no where else to store it. The gear change was a lot higher & closer to the steering wheel. Those arches look spot on mate!
I am looking forward to your complete fully restored bus once you have fully completed Plus, driving it on the road. Keep up the good work with all your videos on Steve stuff
Hey Steve WOW mate give yourself a pat on the back. You my friend should be proud of what you have achieved. Those wheel arches look fantastic.Nice to see shiny tires & the signwriting looks professional. The Glenorie coach used to belong to Premier Motor Service. He has done another Motorcoach in Mccafferty's liveryas well. Hopefully they'll both be at BusFest. Cheers oh windows need cleaning as well.🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
Will freely admit. Those wheel arches turned out pretty darned good. That drivers visor still makes it's presence felt from time to time. Almost need a decal sticker from 2RE or Yarrods etc for authornticity. She looks pretty shmick Steve 👍👍👍. Dave
Kudos to Alan - that *is* a stunning tribute to McCaffertys. Always nice to see clean well presented coaches - Baxters, Warrigal, Cumberland and of course Glenorie.
Wish I could stick my Leyland aluminium hubcap with hubodometer, which I opened up and reset to zero km, attached. I scraped old creme paint off it to reveal a similar torqiose green to yours. It looks great.
Afternoon Steve. Do you remember when there was Eggins but there was another company called Taree Bus Service. I have a memory of them having a decker or two in cream with red sign writing. (Eggins bought them out in my early high school years.) Have you scratched that bus preservation/restoration itch yet or is something else in the wind? Very envious of your abilities. 👍 Dave.
I drove them for years in Scotland, now live in Australia. Would it not be better pulling these old rubber parts off and replacing with the brush type? Love the decker..
Doing the wheel arches has lifted the project to another level. Question Steve if you don't mind - do you need a PSV licence in Australia to drive your bus or is it only if you have passengers - or are you driving on a standard car licence???
@@datsunruss hi mate in Australia you need a heavy vehicle licence to drive a bus. To carry paying passengers you need a further qualification called a Driver Authority. I have both 😬 I drove buses for a living for some years, and have kept all my paperwork current.
Curious about what work is to be done to frame..engine etc. whether repair.. replacement..protective coating etc. I'm aware that you have probably covered some of this in video"s already. Dave
the bus spent 30+ years sitting in a dry desert climate so the underside is surprisingly good. No rust and no damage. The engine needs a couple of things doing to it, however my mechanic mate ran his wand over it before I purchased it. There are also a couple of air leaks that will need looking at.
What a lovely engine note. Really enjoyed that.

thanks for that! Yes storage in the driver area is non-existant
Excellent work and show off cheers Michael

Thank you for taking me for a drive in your bus there Steve I really enjoyed that and I would enjoy more of them in the future
no worries!
Bonus bus n coach show...thank you Steve.
yes I thought we would enjoy that! So many sweet rides
Not as good as Darling Drive Ultimo in the early 1990s. Came across a rebodied AEC there the first time I sniffed around there in 1991.
Wow they scrubbed up beautiful Steve,, the bus is coming along nicely. What a keeper. 😁!!!
@@rongeremy6970 cheers Ron!
Classic, not plastic like the coaches, nice retro livery notwithstanding.
@@jamesfrench7299 definitely.!! The sound of what a real bus sounds like 👍

it was a coach Christmas. And yes it is a very nice job and great to see it out and being used.
A coach that has a livery not just signwriting over plain white!

these never had the brush type, trying to keep it original as they are extremely hard to find unmolested :)
