- it was maybe the best line-up ever. François d'Haene (FRA) took the win in the men's race in 19 hours 1 minute, just ahead of Kilian Jornet (SPA) in 19 hours 16 minutes.
Spain’s Nuria Picas was the female winner of the 2017 UTMB in 25:46:43 barely holding off Switzerland’s Andrea Huser who finished less than 3 minutes back in 25:49:18. Third female went to France’s Christelle Bard in 26:39:03.

That race was truly everything it was promised to be. Walmsley taking it out. D'Haene getting away. The helicopter shots of Kilian trying to chase him down. Probably the greatest matchup in ultra running history and it did not disappoint.

Nostalgique de mes 41h passées dans la montagne; j'arrête pas de me passer cette vidéo en boucle ! le stress ne m'a pas permis de profiter un max de cette légende ! on est dans un état second la deuxième nuit ! c'était différent de 2014 au grand soleil mais ça rajoute à l'aventure le piquant et le mérite de l'avoir finie ! Merci à tous les bénévoles et à l'organisation ! Bravo aux champions !

Casual Steve that dead stare that a lot of runners have I think comes from going in on one self and looking ahead over a long time in training . When I started running years back i had been playing a lot of squash and my game went down hill because I lost spacial awareness. Every thing was happening too fast. I read one time of soccer players who were training to run a marathon for charity and their soccer coach used to have to have them to short sharp drills regularly to keep them up to speed. This might not make sense but what I'm trying to say is the dead stare that long distance runners have just comes from running long.
