Once you establish their response to your asking them to identify, you can proceed accordinglly. For example, if they with "Sir, I am SGT xyz of the xyz police force", you should repond by referring to him as "Sir" as he did you. If they respond with anything less, tailor your demeanor the same. These LEOs did not respond by name or title (just that they worked for the SGT at arms?). Thus, they didn't deserve the courtesy that you provided them by answering their questions, etc. They shouldn't be given the courtesy of asking you questions and expecting responses. Just a thought.....
