The game used to revolve around real player interaction, the fact that GMs are promoting botting is so wild to me, this patch sucks. No wonder the low expense build is OP, the game economy is flooded with so much gold that is now worthless and is almost impossible for solo players or small clans to find an unclaimed spawn to farm.
Yeah, current patch sucks for the class. But being an artist was never really something meta, so I'm not too worried about it. I'll keep maining the artist class until it's pretty much impossible to play. I just find it that fun to play tbh.
@@low_username it was somewhat meta hundreds of years ago. royal and noble classes used to donate to and commission painters to do work for them. you did need to use a lot of skill points before those classes would recognize you, thougj
According to TierZoo, "S" tier builds are known for dominating the meta and having few counters. Paysite artists are actually extremely stable which easily makes them S tier, in my opinion! Especially since they ask for a small contribution from each user (quantity over quality) and the NSFW variant can never run out of work due to the "libido" passive skill most players have.
It's great until the people that run the paysite are caught fucking over the artists. Also, paysite stuff is super fucked mechanically. You have all these people making content for your site, but they're not considered employees in any way, so they aren't entitled to getting benefits and are taxed as indie contractors, which is an absolutely stupid tax nerf. There's also a bugged mechanic with NSFW where companies stop liking money for some bizarre reason and don't want to process payments for NSFW content. I suspect there's a stack overflow type situation with it, where the greed stat just loops back around to negative and activates the puritan mechanic instead.
Another thing to keep in mind is that not everyone can run the NSFW variant, you need to invest points in sanity and have the perversion passive skill, a clashing combo indeed but it does prevent your avatar from being eating away at smut material. You also need to stablish your limits with other fellow players who want to hire your services as slowly but surely if you start taking all the weird commissions of stuff simply doesn't get you going you might end up in a weird midgame situation, resulting in having to reset and go back to the character selection screen. Also depending on your spawn point, tipically on the west. Running this build might be detrimental if you want to run a NG+ and go for the industry questlines. Certain industry NPC leaders are coded to follow the puritan mode.

@@Pfish1000 Yeah was about to say the secret 'forbidden class' is the NSFW artist, which then breaks down into which 'subclass' you spec into as to how much money you're going to earn. pspsps, as a game dev myself, the best multiclass is: solo artist creates their own game. But beware: it's tricky. You'll burn out very quickly if you're not careful with it.
3:40 Secret OP Build, I can vouch that this indeed work. I've been doing commission for a bit and earned around 500$ and that is enough to pay food for a month or less. Since I'm a student, i don't really need to pay bills yet and this goes to my savings!
OH MY GOD, you are a genius for this format, AND its really informative. Specially because im on the road to starting the last build you discussed x.x!
I was expecting another "click-baity useless tips" kinda video and was SO happily surprised by this level of entertainment and reflection on the subject! 😄
There's another, secret option, if you're willing to go deeper. You can spec into TTRPG art. If there's a community out there that's starved for art, it's the roleplaying game community, especially the subsets with a lot of people that want to publish games (like the Old School Revival and Mork Borg). There's a lot of success to be found with simply a Reddit post if you want to try.
Comic + NSFW is super OP it basically skips the last boss and you directly go to the credits. I went with tentacle build instead of furry build, and man, oh MAN, those tentacles are automatic money farms. It's an SSS tier, game breaking class that very little artists currently exploit.
I am doing the resource maxing build, I'm studying architecture and want to be an environment/architecture artist so luckily the skills transfer directly. So I'll say it's not necessarily an F tier, not even software engineering because you could become an indie game developer. Very fun video!!
a moment i thought resourcemaxxing was going to be the most overlooked subclass; the potion seller. here you focus not on gaining xp through art, but through making resources for other artists to use.
Thank you for making this, with all of the subclasses it can get overwhelming and confusing to find which one fits you, but this was a great way to explain what each subclass does!:D
Love seeing the PoE atlas tree. The bane of many artists. You could spend 10,000 hours doing contract work or you could grind for that sweet mirror drop
You forgot one! Gallery Artist! Artists that create work that aims at currently popular trends and then attempts to sell that art to a gallery, who in turn tries to sell it at a markup. No shame for forgetting it since it's a really old-school build, which fell out of favor since it's so RNG dependent early game, but some people still run it thanks to its snowballing capabilities.
Loved it! 😂 I ended up an RM myself cause I just didn't have the free learning resources (nor enough pokedollars) we have now online when I was younger, nor do I live in a country where you could earn a living just from making traditional art if you weren't born in a rich family with social capital, etc. So hobby it was. I did end up doing something I don't hate that now gives me the resources to acquire the art equipment I need, so I count myself lucky! Social media has its downsides but I'm so glad more and more people nowadays have access to free software and materials to do what they love.
I personally main a 100% solo stealth build. I don’t participate in the main campaigns and mostly just roam the map, sight-seeing and watching other players from afar. I get lost doing side quests and have no rep or association with any parties, guilds or other individual players.
Never thought this all would make so much sense explained like this~! After reclassing a few times I've come to have a hybrid build between paysite and freelancer, with the additional difficulty nerfs from living in southamerica (although the somewhat less expensive life cost is balanced out with a lot of other cons like a higher% chance of criminal type random encounters)
I'm a multiclass freelance artist (furry spec) built on my original class of 3D game dev character artist. My guild had to remove a bunch of members due to funding issues though, so now I'm gonna try out combining those two classes in the VRChat server. Wish me luck!
I dunno, I feel like the resource maxing build could be kinda helpful. Like you said, it can help get you through the early game struggle, and besides, those skill points aren’t entirely wasted just because they’re not on the art skill tree. Say you spent a bunch of time on web development skills; you can potentially use those for an online storefront for the Con Artist subclass. Just because you can’t respec doesn’t mean you can’t get creative! Then again, you’ve played it yourself, and I still don’t really know how this game works, so I’ll take your word for it.
Con artist\etsy\wherever else makes a surprisingly amount of money. Some niche fandoms will pay loads for any sort of merch, so you don't always have to worry about only doing popular meta flavour of the month art. A friend of mine made 30k in just a few months just by doing this. Just make sure to post your stuff EVERYWHERE and try to learn how to maximize social media strats.
You guys heard about the Artist-Dictator hybrid class? One legendary player made a shot on that class but in the end he failed to dictate his territory. Very risky.
Me personally, I have a modified version of the resource maxing, I call it, talmaxing, you need to pick classes to reach as many stats in the early game, I went for game designer, comic artist, the programming from game designer, paired with the comic artist class gives me the subtrait, technical animator, from there you need to find which stat has an exp boost and capitalize on that stat, from there you just minmax that one ability
Starting from outside of art then moving into it isn't exactly a waste of 'stat' points, tbh. It's a matter of figuring out how to integrate that into your artwork or how your experiences there might influence how you deal with working in art. Eg. If you work with digital technology, especially programming, that can be used for things like website building that utilizes art designs. All sorts of things with programming and art. It's just a matter of figuring out where the things you learned are applicable Worst comes to worst when starting from outside of the Art 'class' is to go into writing and use the experience from before as part of the fodder for writing/drawing comics. But there's so many ways to utilize all sorts of different pieces of knowledge, so long as you aren't fixed to one set medium to create in. Eg. video content with chemistry that creates physical artistic pieces is an option
I feel like a Healer class is needed on this list to complete the Trinity! Maybe a Spiritual Artist!? Does Art to heal the heart, you know? Hit them right in the feels. ^^
You'd think software engineering would put offer really cool re-spec buffs when moving to the artist class 🤔 you could make plugins for yourself, make a cool website for your art, and (obviously) work on some indie games!! Although CSP only lets the JP users make plugins 😭😭 so it would probably be more useful for people that work with animation
I think freelance artist is a new meta also because, a lot of art schools in some countries don’t focus on digital art and the industry, and rather on traditional methods which aren’t a perfect build for everyone. So it’s also kinda rng based. Freelance artist build is meta because it looks into what is new and leaves u a lot of freedom and if you can manage your resources well you will be OP.
Been wanting to be a comic artist when i was young and loved playing Paladins in video games, so your drawing of the comic artist subclass was calling out to me 😅
im multiclassing, started multiclassing the op secret build and freelance build, spent like 6 levels on that when i decided to multiclass with the college build out of boredom of the initial class setup and now just added the con artist subclass because yet again it got boring and i wanted to mix things up jnmhnjmhg it was, a lot, but im still going!! the con artist class is pretty fun, much more than i was expecting! tho it takes a lot of planning to come up with merch and juggle all that with the college and freelance quests
Would love to see a video about your personal art progress tbh Like... maybe progress from start to now and some advice on studying and improving at different stages of skill
with u on the resource maxing build been investing and working to get my electrical engineering degree but really feel like my passion is art and since in just a few years ill be done with my degree ill just have to stick with it
The vtuber artist spec can crossover with a lot of others, fan facing or vtuber facing. If one learns how to rig in 2d, or 3d model and rig the possibilities are tremendous
Even though I don't plan on having my job be an artist (cause I like it as a hobby), it was fun learning the different ways or classes that you could earn money as one. Maybe we could get a DLC version of this video explaining the other classes.

I thinking about that last comment of "please buff the artist class"
The main thing that seperates the artist class from other more generalized classes is that art isn't a necessity like other more common classes, it's a luxury for other players to treat themselves to whenever they feel like it
Artist generally have ways to offer their services to a wide scope of people because if how many times this luxury makes things look a little nicer (a well designed logo, a stream layout, a full character sheet etc')
The problem might be the lack of respect to artist which marks their work as much less of a luxury and more of a: "you should be thankful I'm even considering buying your trash art"
So the main way the increase the demand for art could be to create a meme (like metal gear solid) that prepetuates the idea of purchasing art as a means to elevate ones status, form connections between the client and artist, and support the hard working artist so they could contunue to provide their services to other people

I've been feeling sad and down lately. But your videos is helping me so much. Your energy is so sincere and positive. It gives me a reasurrance. To have hope. For me to keep moving forward despite what life have been throwing. I know you might not see this message, but I just wanna say from my deepest heart. Thank you thank you so so much. ❤
loving the tierzoo vibes rn
im so glad you mentioned the words "artist skill tree" every time I bring this up irl with friends they just get googly eyes
Woohoo! Thanks for the awesome art builds! I'll have to test them when the next patch releases!
This was a really fun video, pikat. I like the descriptor of "tanky" for some builds. Super spot on.
I love the art RPG classes and the artstyle.
this was surprisingly fun to watch XD
pspsps, as a game dev myself, the best multiclass is: solo artist creates their own game.
You explain this in the best and most digestible way possible!! Would love more of this!!!
I wanna get into this ngl!!
I am doing the resource maxing build, I'm studying architecture and want to be an environment/architecture artist so luckily the skills transfer directly. So I'll say it's not necessarily an F tier, not even software engineering because you could become an indie game developer. Very fun video!!
a moment i thought resourcemaxxing was going to be the most overlooked subclass; the potion seller.
here you focus not on gaining xp through art, but through making resources for other artists to use.
this might just be THE best art related video I've ever seen
The amount of amazing digital illustrators that would make a stupid comfy living if they just learned how to tattoo is mind blowing.
Thank you for making this, with all of the subclasses it can get overwhelming and confusing to find which one fits you, but this was a great way to explain what each subclass does!:D
Welp time to lvl up my NSFW Patreon build😂
This is such a great and creative video idea and all your drawings of artist fighters are so so cute !!! Great work
This is S tier content
I really love the way you use video game analogy's like "spawn locations"
Love seeing the PoE atlas tree. The bane of many artists. You could spend 10,000 hours doing contract work or you could grind for that sweet mirror drop
Love this! Thank you for continuing to teach us pikat! 💠
Social media has its downsides but I'm so glad more and more people nowadays have access to free software and materials to do what they love.
this is the one the most creative ways to explain a tier list
This is actually.... Really... Inspiring. I'm speccing into being an Animator/multiclass with you in mind.
Love how you talk about this in gamer terms
I love this idea of classes of artist with skill trees, well played
I LOVED this video!! Mixing rpg with art was amazing
This was a very fun way to explain the paths for artist to take! I wish success to every artist putting in the work :)
I combine my passions of art and music together. I create album covers and concert posters. :)
I love the entire analogy of different carreer pathways in art. I'm probs gonna go freelancer/paysite build, thanks for sharing the tips!!!
Such an fun video! Your videos have been so good. Youre the best Pikat ❤
Just finding this now and it might be my favorite Pikat video ever 😂
oh that remix of song of storms, thats good feels
This was a shockingly fun video lol.
omg this was so much fun and the characters are such cuties thank you
I'm a multiclass freelance artist (furry spec) built on my original class of 3D game dev character artist.
Really fun video! Good job Pikat!!! 💛
9:04 I didn't think she was that high of level😮
This is amazing!! So much love going into the incredible character designs for each build
This is a genius way to explain it
"Completely unusable for art" bestie, what are you talking about? it's time to make an indie game.
i love that you made classes for each of them
You guys heard about the Artist-Dictator hybrid class?
It's just a matter of figuring out where the things you learned are applicable
Worst comes to worst when starting from outside of the Art 'class' is to go into writing and use the experience from before as part of the fodder for writing/drawing comics. But there's so many ways to utilize all sorts of different pieces of knowledge, so long as you aren't fixed to one set medium to create in. Eg. video content with chemistry that creates physical artistic pieces is an option
This is such a fun idea!
Would be fun to see a part 2! :)
I feel like a Healer class is needed on this list to complete the Trinity!
Maybe a Spiritual Artist!? Does Art to heal the heart, you know? Hit them right in the feels. ^^
hobby artist class
I love the fact you have called them builds…video perfection 😂
Tried the convention build, was not prepared for it.😭😭😭
you just combined my 2 favorite things in one video: art and video games :D thank you, very entertaining!
Your commitment knows no bounds! 💯 -- "The only stratagem guaranteed to fail in our fast--changing world is avoiding risk."
Man the devs nerfing the industry class after i spent 8 years in the art school quest is roughhhh. Gotta reclass ig
Been wanting to be a comic artist when i was young and loved playing Paladins in video games, so your drawing of the comic artist subclass was calling out to me 😅
oh my god that SEA spawn thing is so good i never thought of that I NEED TO DRAW NOW
Brazil spawn is super OP. Just by living here, if you get paid in USD, you get a 5.44 times multiplier to your income.
I keep finding myself watching your videos as the algorithm suggests them to me. So enjoyable. Subscribed!
this is certified ballin
im multiclassing, started multiclassing the op secret build and freelance build, spent like 6 levels on that when i decided to multiclass with the college build out of boredom of the initial class setup and now just added the con artist subclass because yet again it got boring and i wanted to mix things up jnmhnjmhg it was, a lot, but im still going!! the con artist class is pretty fun, much more than i was expecting! tho it takes a lot of planning to come up with merch and juggle all that with the college and freelance quests
I needed this video so much 😭
Would love to see a video about your personal art progress tbh
Like... maybe progress from start to now and some advice on studying and improving at different stages of skill
Pikat now been through every artist ytubers canon event ( getting sponsered by skillshare)
with u on the resource maxing build been investing and working to get my electrical engineering degree but really feel like my passion is art and since in just a few years ill be done with my degree ill just have to stick with it
The vtuber artist spec can crossover with a lot of others, fan facing or vtuber facing. If one learns how to rig in 2d, or 3d model and rig the possibilities are tremendous
1:17 OH MY GOD A BLOX FRUIT REFERENCE THAT CAUGHT ME OFF GAURD
Even though I don't plan on having my job be an artist (cause I like it as a hobby), it was fun learning the different ways or classes that you could earn money as one. Maybe we could get a DLC version of this video explaining the other classes.
This video is gonna go hard I can tell omg
