- A walk starting from the village of Stonethwaite in Borrowdale in The Lake District.
The walk starts by crossing the bridge over Stonethwaite Beck then follows the path used by the Cumbria Way & Wainwrights Coast to Coast towards Eagle Crag which dominates the view ahead. The route heads up to Eagle Crag before continuing along the ridge to Sergeant's Crag. I then walk around the head of the valley to the opposite side where I take in the fine view point of Lining Crag.
From Lining Crag the walk then descends to the valley and follows the path running alongside Greenup Gill back towards Stonethwaite. Distance is around 6 miles.
Good day for that Eddie, its a good walk from Stonethwaite did this a couple of years back on a windy day....You captured lots of varied views.I liked it at top of Eagle crag for the views.i could sit there all day and watch the world go by. .With a clear sunny morning you certainly got some great scenic footage again. Top stuff showing the beauty of the lake district. ATB Mark.
Thanks Mark. I really enjoyed this walk, the views were great all the way and the good weather made it even better. I agree with you about Eagle Crag, it is a great summit, even though it is not as high as Sergeant's Crag it has better views. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
Hey Eddie, Just had the pleasure of watching this and have to say a wonderful job sir! I completed my 214th AW back in 2009, and have done very little walking since due to various different reasons - I am just about to start out again. You took exactly the same route I did when I ticked these two off and having just watched this, I am very tempted to give this another go next week and wild camp on top. Hope you are still getting out. :)
Hi Chris. Thanks for the kind comments. Well done for completing all 214 Wainwrights. I have around 60 to go! This was a great walk and I will be doing the walk again with Carol (my better half )as she has not done these fells yet. We are both doing the Wainwrights. Pleased you are going to get back out again. I was down in Great Langdale last week ( 25th June 2020) We walked up to Rossett Pike & Angle Tarn, another really good walk. I have just put that video out a couple of days ago. Let me know how you get on with your walking. Thanks for the sub Chris and thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Looks a brilliant walk. Great stuff
Thanks Andy, it is a really good walk with some great views. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Just been watching your Eagle Crag walk as hopefully we’ll be doing it tomorrow depending on weather. Great vid, love the sound track. We’ll be ascending from the back route below Lining Crag.
Thanks Mike. It is a great walk. I will be doing the walk again sometime as my better half has not done these fells yet. Hope the weather is good for you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
Thanks I really enjoyed that
Thanks Steve. It is a really good walk with some great views. Thanks for watching & commenting. Take care & stay safe. Cheers. Eddie.
Thank you for doing this so informative
Thanks Anne. It is a really good walk, but definitely one to do in good weather, as it gets a bit steep higher up. I have done this walk again since this video with Carol ( my better half) and we added an extra fell to the walk ( Ullscarf). I did not film it on that occasion. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Great views ,great weather and a stunning walk. Very nice.
Thanks Mike. I really enjoyed this walk, great views and great weather. I will certainly be returning to this part of the Lake District. Thanks for watching & commenting. Cheers. Eddie. PS Weather is forcast to get warmer this weekend for your trip to the Lakes!
Nice walk around the horseshoe, stunning views, good weather as well...
Thanks. Another walk I really enjoyed and the weather made it even better. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
Absolutely stunning work Eddie! It is, of course, one of my favorite parts of the Lakes so this was a real treat for me! Beautiful weather, no crowds, amazing views and photographs - it doesn't get any better! Cheers Anthony 👍👍👍
Thanks Anthony. I really enjoyed this walk and I can see why it is one of your favourite part of the Lakes. I will certainly be returning to this area again soon. The views and weather were really good, and I only saw about 2 people all day, which was surprising as it was the Easter School holidays! Thanks again for watching and commenting Anthony. Cheers. Eddie.
Absolutely stunning walk and amazing views...you really do take us on incredible hikes, great stuff😎👍👍👍😎
Thanks. I really enjoyed this walk. Great views and great weather. I really took my time on this walk and made the most of the weather and the views. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
I've walked that valley bottom up to lining-crag and beyond(high-raise and back through the langstrath valley) many times but never been up to eagle and sergeants-crags. Looks a cracking route Eddie and i'll definitely be doing it this summer.
Cheers...Stu........PS you always seem to get great weather, is that planned on your behalf or just luck ?.
I really enjoyed this route Stu, great views all the way. I will certainly be returning to this part of the Lake District to do more walks. As for the weather, I think it must be luck, ha! (To be honest I tend to keep an eye on the forcast, , it doesn't always work out though!) Thanks for watching & commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
Another nice walk out and stunning weather as well, I do not know how you do it lol! Looked like you had the whole place to yourself as well, could not have been better, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan. Yes, it was a really nice walk with great weather and great views. I only saw a couple of people all day, which was surprising as it was the Easter Holidays. Another walk I have to do again with Carol as she has not done this one yet. Here's to plenty more sunny weather for the Spring and Summer!! Cheers. Eddie.
Great video Eddie on a stunning day. Really good momento of that walk. Loved your comment climbing Eagle Crag by the wall …. "Bit steep in parts, nothing too bad" - It seemed vertical to me when I did it ! lol. Cheers atb.
Thanks Stuart. Ha, yes it was a bit steep, think I was just trying to reassure myself! I really enjoyed this walk, great views and great weather. Thanks again Stuart for watching and commenting. Cheers. Eddie.
Another great video Eddie, stunning views and once again perfect weather. Derek and I did the exact same route last week weather was okay but not as good as when you did it. Hope you and Carol are keeping well.
Hi Mary, good to here from you. This was another walk I really enjoyed and one I will be doing again with Carol. We are both well, thanks. We were hoping to get across to the Lakes this week sometime ( before the weekend) but the weather does not seem too good. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Cheers. Eddie. Hope you are both well and still getting out for plenty of walks!
Woh bagus ny bng 😺😺
This was a great walk in great weather. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
stunning scenery, how long does the walk take and would you need a map or is the walk straight forward?
Hi Ken. I would say this walk would take around 5-6 hours. It takes me a bit longer to do the walks due to the filming & taking photos etc. A map would definitely be useful. Ordinance survey map OL4 covers this area. There are some tricky sections as you get near the top of Eagle Crag where a bit of scrambling is needed. It is a great walk and one I have done a couple of times now, well worth doing. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
@@eddiecaisley5746 thanks Eddie, much appreciated.
