- People are still talking about the California teen who was captured in dramatic surveillance video shoving a bear that got too close to her dog. And it’s sparking a great debate: should she have stayed away or stepped in to save her pets? Hailey Morinico,17, sprang into action when she saw her four pups in trouble in the backyard at her Pasadena home. Inside Edition spoke to Hailey as she recovered from the close encounter. We brought the teen and wildlife expert Jeff Corwin together via FaceTime. #InsideEdition
It was all timing, if she would of hesitated for a second it wouldn’t of went down that way. Her Timing was perfect, the bear wasn’t looking at her and it was unbalanced on that wall.

we all saw the bear is perfectly fine, and the woman saved her dogs form getting worse than scratches but the situation itself could have been worse because that wasn't ANY old bear it was a MAMA with her kids so yea, it could have gone FAR worse everyone is lucky there.

When you're adrenaline is pumping to save your loved one, you don't think. Was it dangerous, absolutely, would she do it again save her dog, ABSOLUTELY like the rest of us! She didn't go to kill it she pushed it out of way of harming her animals..

Having had a bear encounter myself, you have to be as aggressive and loud and threatening as much as possible! Keeping your distance is preferable but not always possible

It was right of her to shove the bear as a defense mechanism. The bear most likely will survive the fall since the elevation of the house is not that high. So that is what I would've done for the sake of the family and the dogs. There really isn't much to debate here. And additionally, the bear can hold onto the sides of the house using its claws, so I assure you that the bear isn't going to die or get hurt. I don't know anything else you could've done in that situation. If she didn't have done that, the bear may have made its way into the house.
Like she was going to stand there and call 911. I totally don't believe the bear was expecting to be counter attacked. The bear was pretty much concentrating on the dogs below and not what was coming in like a rocket from the side. I'd have done the same thing.
