It shows an old man having trees planted in his garden, for shade in his later years, delusional to the fact that he is about to die. When I first read that book at school, I treated it as a sort of personal Bible. That’s how much it moved me.

I visited Arran a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I discovered, thanks to a trip to the heritage museum, that I had relatives who lived and worked on the island for many generations. Me and my mum thoroughly enjoyed watching your video and pointing out where we had and hadn’t been. Arran is such a beautiful spot and you have definitely done it justice with all footage captured. Glad you had just as much of a great time as we did!

I did the same thing with my novel before it went to the inside page format service, I remember being careful not to change the wording, because I wanted to preserve the original spirit of the writing. I was looking for hiccups in a smooth reading experience. The only major thing I did was change the character in a scene, because her speech was about "finding your witness" (which is a core part of the novel) and it made more sense coming from a Queen than from a minor goddess.... The thing I didn't count on was letting several typos slip by (not hard to do with 635 printed pages) -- which I caught 3 years later and fixed in a second edition. Hopefully the publisher you end up with will have a good proofreader. Sunday in California.... Bye!
