    The handle of the knife is indeed crucial when using it! In my hometown, Taiwan, we sometimes use fishing heat shrink tube and put it on the handle of the knife to increase comfort and improve the efficiency of the knife, especially on the traditional Atayal mountain knife! Thank you very much for your wonderful sharing, and I look forward to new videos in the future! brother!👍👍

    I did the same thing on both my 9 and 6. I went with the black and red though. Much better feeling in the hand!

    Interesting review. I get what you’re saying; I have big knives that can’t chop their way out of a wet paper bag. They cut well but don’t chop well. Some bounce and are outright dangerous.

    I make all my knife grips my own to fit my big hands and different grip positions especially with fixed blades..

    There is something with my rd6 blade that isnt like my other blades. I can hear it with that one also. Sound is unique

    Heck yeah man! I love the TKC scales! I replaced the scales on my NS7 and NS4 and it totally changed the knife and made them a favorite of mine compared to unusable with the crap Ontario scales👍🏻

    New handles look good and the knife looks good as just does not perform too well as I guess you can't win em all....Nice job....Good stuff....

    You are my number one knife reviewer now. Great content. I got the orange scales for my RD6 and RD9. I also have the SP49 and SP51 which are both nice choppers but also saber grind and a little more belly. Maybe the RD9 needed more belly width and a saber grind. Are you still liking the BK9 more? I just hate the fact that Kabar skeletonized it and their other blades aren't. You would think they would save money by keeping the BK9 one solid piece rather than taking that extra step. I did e-mail Kabar with that question.

      Thank you so much. And I couldn’t agree more about the becker. It seems like an extra step. Leaving it in. Make us happy

    Hows the coating on yours? On mine it was so rough that it was like a brake to chopping. After stripping it off and putting a nice convex edge on it, it chops decent. Seriously I might as well have started with knife and handle blanks to get to where it is now

    You used a drill press as an upsidedown router 🤣😂 🤣 my kinda man PBKG! Might not have every tool but I can workshop-Macgyver any tool I need! I'm surprised that RD9 isnt chopping well... Maybe your buddy got one of Ontario's famous lemons with a really bad grind. In their later years they were screwing up a TON of grinds. Mine chops better than my SP5.

    • @peterbiltknifeguy
      @peterbiltknifeguy  3 месяца назад +1

      My sp5 sucks at chopping also. The rd9 does chop slightly better 😂

      @@peterbiltknifeguytouché 🤣😂🤣 there aren't too many Ontario's that are particularly good choppers. Some of the bigger Gen 2 SPs are, like the 50 or the 53. The Kukri isn't bad. But I still wouldn't put em up against El Chete!

    Knife is a certified turd . How can a 9” blade with such thin stock and flat grind, perform so poorly? I honestly don’t get it? Terrible Balance is the only thing I can relate it to. What do you think is the real issue, mate? Sounded like it was vibrating a ton as well. Just a poor specimen on all facets.
