I'm Ghanaian and I stand by Anas on people need to be held accountable, the corrupt officials need to rot in jail, journalist should stand and we need to see practical change with their story they cover, Africans should have a sense of INTEGRITY , we need drastic change or we're no different from our fathers who haven't evolved much from the colonization independence era, and filling up all political positions claiming our generation is lazy when they're partly at fault.

Do we Africans even have the luxury to the heated debate like this for synonymous words activism & journalism? Dont we have the elephant in the room?

This is an interesting debate. As a communication student, I hope to be part of such discussion some day.
Now to the topic at hand, I think there's a fine line between activism and journalism, but activism is gradually being subsumed under journalism. In my view, activism is limited to certain aspects or issues in the society. Activists do more of what pressure groups do. That's why we have social activists, civil rights activists, financial activists etc. They only become active when theirs an issue that goes what they stand for.
As for journalism, it encompasses every issue or ill in our society. Journalists report on every issue that affects society. However, journalists may choose activism when they become passionate about a particular issue.

I see activism to be more militancy thereby loosing one's status of being a civilian which where Journalism falls

The brother behind the mask dropping GEMS and he is not wrong that uour culture dictates and doesn't blame the west. The sisters spoke their truth tall sister in reacting from pain and fear which is valid however, Africa is a testament of confusion. my people we're so wounded.
One Africa. There is no safe journalism any where.
