According to legend, in 1962, when Alvin Dark was managing the Giants, someone saw Gaylord Perry taking batting practice, and remarked that he might hit some home runs. Dark supposedly replied that there would be a man on the Moon before Gaylord Perry would hit a home run. He hit his first major league home run at about the 50:15 mark of the video, about 29 minutes after Jerry Doggett announced that the Apollo 11 astronauts had landed on the Moon.
