I think I found the deleted file but it won't let me open it with anything, something about its format not letting the program open it, also couldn't recover it to its original file, so it's pretty is much gone, it was an art project that I was working on for 4-5 hours and after I finished I closed my laptop without saving.

in the data recovery folder, I found a file which is an AID format, and it's not open by the illustrator or any other apps on my pc

I found the file but it says THIS FOLDER IS EMPTY!! and I had the option of recovery activated every 2 mins. What can I do?? :(

Sometimes CCleaner type software might do this and I request you to try a demo crash and check whether you get the file lost file as recovery or not!

My PC used a HDD disk but it broke and I had to change it to an new SSD disk and I was able to recover the .ai files with a program recoverit wondershare, now I have a question, my 400MB file was saved successfully but the 19MB one doesn't look like much well, i retrieved 5 equal copies but i got 2 different errors, it says like this:
"The Acrobat PDF file format is experiencing difficulties. Expected a dict object" and "The file "name ai" has an unknown format and cannot be opened"
Could you help me? I'm on a project with over 300 hours and at least lost 2 weeks, it's lucky I saved it to the cloud. If you offered to try to see what was going on I would send these 2 files by email, I would be grateful

If you are using the latest CC version then it has autosave option in 5-30 minutes!
Try to enable that with the minimum possible time and hope your next project won't get damaged!

I really feel pity when I see something like this with my viewers!
This may happen for several reasons like:
1.not enabling auto-save,
2.cleaning junks/temp files before attempting to recover file,
3.auto deletion of junks/temp files by installed software,
4.faulty ram/hard disk etc!
Hence, I suggest you to try demo crash of any scratch project and check whether your version of PS can bring out crashed file or not properly!

When I tried opening my project it was showing text import option I tapped on okay and I did not see any of my drawing on that project
It was empty. Pls what should I do?
I am really sorry to listen to it and this may happen due to many reasons!
If your Junk/temp file is cleaned before attempting this procedure or if your PC hardware is not capable of holding crashed file back!
You may try a demo crash and check whether it can save unsaved illustrator file or not!

What if I lost my file before turning on autosave? If I can't get it back I lost my 8 hours of work....
It works even if you don't enable it but the best practice is to enable the option manually!

Same happened with me even autosave option was enabled in my illustrator and it works all the time but this time it recovered the file but not the work in it. I was working on it for 7 hours. 😞 Please tell me if you found any way to recover your work?

It may also happen due to Ram weakness and to inform you, our primary and unsaved works first get temporarily saved into ram and we recover from there!
You can try a demo by crashing any rough project willingly and then try it!

This can not be done if you clean junks.

Basically, the file recovery works with temp and junk file process and this also matters with RAM strength !
If you clean your junks and temp file before attempting this procedure, then you might not get the file!!!
Its bitter but true!
You can manually try a file recovery by doing manual crash and can check whether our PC can auto recover or not!
This may save you in future!
Also check if there's any auto junk cleaning tool or not!
