Honestly, life is very simple in Canada. Work 2 to 3 jobs for 30 years to pay off your million dollar house then retire in your 60s then end up in nursing home in your 70s or 80s then you die. The end.

My partner and I are done with Canada and will be relocating to my home country in Europe. After 7 years here, sadly Canada is no longer a good place to live. No access to healthcare and no life balance.
I moved to Europe and then Asia. Lived in a few places. Of all the countries I've moved to as an expat, Canada offered the worst value for dollar and worst quality of life. UK, UAE, Japan, all better than Canada. The Philippines sucked as a serious expat and even then at least for the poor quality services and infrastructure, costs of rent and cellphone service were low to match.
I am an Indian who came here for a graduate degree at a top school on scholarship, my family nor me are very rich, we are comfortably middle class, and coming here opened my eyes to how good healthcare is for the average person in India. Apart from who are truly destitute Indian healthcare is almost as universal as Canadian healthcare with imo much much much better competency. Drugs are easier to get too. The only drugs that are easier to get in Canada are the wrong kind you see people take outside metro stations. I abhore the Canadian healthcare system, especially in cities like vancouver, toronto and montreal. Having to wait 18 hours in ER for a consultation while I am dying of pain in my whole face. Yeah no thank you. The sad part is, the immigrants who leave first are the ones Canada wants for their economy and work force. Such a bad policy.
In the next decade or two, India may well go the way of China and become the other manufacturing giant. It is likely that there will be many more good job opportunities in India than in the US and Canada.

Talking with Canadians about the recent five to ten years you get the picture of what's wrong with the country, and it all begun with an unjustified inflation that has removed purchasing power from millions of people. This directly affected the bottom line of housing affordability and without a high-paying job everything collapses.
Inflation in inevitable in a capitalistic-driven economy. Canada and the world are driven by the toxic, unsustainable market capitalistic economic incentives for profit maximization. That is the major cause of the challenges for affording life in Canada, and all over the world. The areas that seem to do better, generally have more social supports, like Finland or Denmark, or full of really rich people like Monaco. The system is the sickness. That is what needs to change if we want to have a better life to look forward to. The answer is mostly definitely not voting a new party in power. That is something people can do, when it is time, hopefully after doing their research, but that is 2 years away for Federal change of politics in Canada, so if people think that is answer, they are fooling themselves. Want real change? Start educating yourself more and sharing it with others. Are you aware that no country on Earth is sustainably meeting their people's needs? Canada is not unique. The system is the sickness, not the people, not the bad politicians. The problems like poverty, inflation, violence, homelessness, hunger, waste and healthcare delays are all because we are in late stage capitalism, which only serves the rich getting richer due to the profit motive and all the other unsustainable incentives inherent to the monetary-market economy. I know that is not common knowledge but it is true. You are free to do you own research or challenge me on any of these points, and I can point to the sources and/or explain the reasoning. The solution is building a better system, from the bottom-up, community level first, with willing others, so that we do have a future to look forward to. With cooperation, collaboration and co-ownership, we can start doing this today, and well into 2024.
The government should not be worried about immigrants leaving, they should be worried about Canadians leaving Canada. Immigrants are cash cows, but Canadian citizens are meant to be for life-long-term investment. It ain’t gonna happen if the environment is insufferable.
Assuming that most immigrants come to Canada as economic immigrants, the reason they are leaving the country is simple - the country is simply economically no longer attractive nor competitive. There are other reasons too, like sharply declining healthcare. Overall, Canada is a country in "free fall".

Austria is, for example, a country that I admire a lot (search how Vienna is addressing housing)! The government HAS to work for its citizens, not for some interest groups. There is no need for reinventing the wheel, study the countries that are doing well and apply (what is applicable) to your country. After all, Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, etc. are not in some other galaxy so there are commonalities.
I couldn't agree with you more. Canada should be looking to European nations to learn from them on social issues as well as climate change and many other things. It frustrates me to no end to see what's happening but I find it very naive for people on here to say that they are going to leave Canada for greener pastures. Where are they going? To Switzerland? I’ve met some Colombian people who after living in Canada for some years they decided to go back to Colombia or to the USA. Definitely Canada is not the land of opportunities the Government claims.
@@Berlina18 You should ask them if they went back to Colombia to work like the majority of people work there, no contract of any kind (this means not even the salary is guaranteed and can be below the minimum which is 250 dollars…per month) or if they manage to find something to work for just a hundred dollars more than the minimum and working the double they used to work here (in Colombia it’s normal to see jobs that require you to work even 60 hours per week for barely above the minimum). The ones who go back to Colombia because they are better financially only represents like less than the 5% of the population, for the majority of the rest even living as a homeless in Canada is a huge upgrade for how they live in Colombia.

You mean you don't want to stay here where: - you have to wait 3 hrs to see a doctor in a clinic or 8 hrs in a hospital -you don't get paid enough to live comfortably - rent is 75% of your income if not 90% and buying a home is impossible ( landlords won't properly fix anything either and you're lucky to even get one that's not some management company that you can rarely even get through to or passsed on to voicemail machines) - you get to travel the country on one lane roads where you can't pass for like an hour -you freeze your butt off and have a prime minister mandate stuff and then freeze your money when you try to enact free speech -you get live with mice and sometimes roaches because land lords are allowed/enabled to be slum lords - you can't afford groceries which most nearly as much as you pay in rent a month -you get paid unlivable wages and poor treatment from employers -you see people all over the place dying or hunched over high on drugs -you see homeless people everywhere that the government doesn't properly help -it's insanely cold but you can't afford to heat your home -where there's many bed bug problems all over the place -there's tons of crime all over the place because the police do nothing even if you call them for help -no one is held accountable and just pass the buck off to someone else while the problem only gets bigger -tuition costs a fortune, there's no guarantee you'll get a career position, most jobs are only part-time offered, or temporary positions - the streets are filthy and everyone smokes, vapes, does drugs right next to you in public etc.....

Issues Canada faces: 1. Try to find a family doctor accepting new patients. Canada has a doctor shortage. 2. Housing.. either housing is over priced or employees are under paid. The other problems, like over priced groceries are small potatoes compared to the first 2 problems. If Canada tackles housing affordability and medical staff shortages, it has a million other positive aspects going for it.
Oh I heard of this just last week! Am in Africa and was shocked to learn that a doctor migrating to Canada would not get employed in his profession unless he studies the profession afresh! That would mean a wastage of his 1st 04-05 years in Medical School before Canada! I thought it was batsh*t crazy! Strange to see that it is true!
I am a Physical Therapist who tried to get a license in Canada. They turned me down because my school in the USA no longer has a physical seal. They sent my records with an electronic seal. So Canada turned me down. I'm a really good Therapist and I would love to work there. I am a Canadian citizen. I can see why they have a shortage of qualified medical workers.

My wife is Korean, and she and her Korean friends think Canada is clown world, she's constantly amazed how docile native Canadians are to the government, big corporations and far-left activists, letting them get away with incompetence and corruption that would end Korean political careers and destroy political parties in Korea. Basically she said in South Korea politicians and political parties fear the voters and are very careful not to outrage voters, as Korean voters don't blindly vote party lines but will all vote together to punish incompetence and corruption. I told her that Canadians ARE politically meek, if the government demanded we get a bar code tattooed on our butts 95% of Canadians would grumble and comply.

The quality of life in the Philippines, no matter how poor we are, could not be compensated by whatever promise there is in Canada. Overall, the Philippines nonetheless has plenty of beauty, comfort, satisfaction, and happiness for those who are hard-working and socially adept to keep their relationships warm with friends and relatives. While there is so much money in Canada, its growing ugly side, which expatriate Filipinos themselves could attest to, is becoming more and more irritating. It is better to invest one's talent in one's native land here and just visit Canada as a dignified tourist than as an unenthusiastic citizen in that country.

The Public Sector and the Private Sector are not in the same page. For instance, degrees earned in the Philippines may be deemed equivalent to only two years of study in Canada because the first two years of undergraduate study in the Philippines are completed during grades 11 and 12. Take, for example, many Pinay registered nurses; when their credentials are assessed, they may be categorized only as registered practical nurses, requiring an additional 2 to 3 years of study to achieve the designation of a Registered Nurse (RN).

I’m Canadian - born and raised. But I’ve thought about moving abroad multiple times. No where is 100% better but Canada has definitely become real bad over the last 5-10 years. Unfortunately my family won’t leave and I have obligations to them (help provide and care for my parents) so I won’t be leaving anytime soon but wish I could. 😅

If you are not prepared for the challenges and consequences, it is advisable not to leave the country. However, your decision that makes you happier is always the best. Every country may not be suitable for everyone. While the Philippines might be the best option, the problem is that corruption is rampant, and the bureaucracy and healthcare systems are not up to par.
So true and other than rampant corruption and poor health care, Philippines is a better place to live. If only everyone of us would live a life considerate of each other's welfare especially among the politicians and even the rebels/NPAs, Philippines would be a very blessed country and its citizens would not think of leaving.

We've been here 15 years landed during the recession. Started with zero, minimum wage jobs. We've upgraded our skills, educated ourselves about finances. Now we paid off our home and debt free. Soon to hit our 1st million networth. If you've been here for 25 years with nothing to show for, it's on you.

Then there are my two other friends I've known since in my teens. They wanted to leave as well. The only reason why they haven't decided is because of the kids. That should tell you something right there......
Majority of immigrants in Canada are considered at least middle class citizens back in homeland. So many of them don't really expect themselves and their kids doing Uber drivers or manual laboring as a living in Canada. They all compete for white collar job like they had back home, but those occupations are more likely reserved for Canadians who finished 4 year post secondary education. You want a better life for your kid? Your kid may have a better life here, but that will cost you and your wife careers you both had.
There's already enough inexperienced and unqualified people who seem to be unable to do their jobs. So, now let's go ahead and accept substandard education and training. Many immigrants leave when they realize that all their money goes to pay for the inflated prices of everything. The salaries seem high when they compare it to where they come from, but when they realize the cost of living here, they soon realize most Canadians live from paycheck to paycheck. This is not the dream life they pictured. Go ahead and kick one of the hundreds of thousands of homeless Canadians on the way to work. What a disaster Canada has become.
For example a person is paid $4400 per month. That's P180,000 per month. That is huge for the Philippines but barely enough to live in Canada depending where you live. With deductions, only approximately $3000 is left for living expenses per month. $1500 could be for rent only (a 1 bedroom apartment)!
i don't know man. I know a filo couple just came here, had their first car in like barely 6 months. and they seem to be doing just fine, working in the IT industry. It's all about the mindset and the person's profile. if someone is a blue collar worker back in their home country, and came here doing the same work, low wage, manual labor, then that's a disaster. it's a case to case basis. canada is not for everybody.
@@jobreferral-v7m The IT industry is significantly weaker than the US IT industry, so I highly doubt that they're making a significant amount of money. It sounds like they're living off financing, which is very common for Millennial Filipinos (and unfortunately many fall into debt). Many Filipinos in IT actually stay in the Philippines since they'll make more than doctors thanks to Fiver/Upwork. It's why I find this a little less believable - it's definitely not the norm. If they were in IT in the Philippines, then they'll objectively have a better quality of life doing online work with American companies while staying in their home country. This Filipino couple is probably struggling a lot behind the scenes, especially if they came in the past 6 months. You also have to consider utang or sending money back home - many Filipinos come abroad to support their families.
The truth about immigration is that it is not designed for everyone, taking on a gamble to leave a country or state for province for another is risky move but guess what if you are resilient enough the first few years are always the toughest, and then you gradually navigate the system as you rebuild your life. Unfortunately for immigrants (I am an immigrant myself) people think they will come to a new country and start earning six figures right off the bat. While that may be true for some, not the same for all.
No new Canadian should ever be making 6 figures while Canadians starve. All foreigners making that amount should be splitting their work and salary with a starving local Canadian....or get out. Wealth hoarders.

Most jobs are regulated with strict license requirement. The exam OET needed to become a registered nurse in UK is many times simpler than Enclex in US and Canada. Thats the core issue. Only few jobs accept foreign experience and no license like IT. Govt needs to realize this.

I'm a born and raised Canadian. Canada is very unaffordable! Taxes are one of the highest in the world. Taxes, taxes and more taxes. Healthcare is in the toilet! It is impossible to find a family doctor. Seeing any specialists comes with very long waiting list.
Low wages is the biggest problem. I have always said, you don't get rich by saving money, you get rich by earning money. I am not a racist and I have nothing against the immigrants but you have to think logically and understand that when you flood the country so fast with so many immigrants and students that majority start to look minority in their own country, it going to create a cultural shock and employers will exploit paying peanuts for even skilled work simply because there are too many people. Please limit a fair mortgage rate for first home buyers only and give 3x mortgage to 2nd or more home buyers and do strict background check so they don't buy the 2nd/3rd house on their spouse's or kid's name.
I agree that mass migration is ruining Canada. Immigration is good when kept at reasonable levels among foreigners who can be hired to construct houses or those who can establish businesses that produce jobs. But many of the immigrants coming into Canada are neither.
Got here in canada 6 yrs ago and it’s still the same. Been Working 2 jobs because i need to live. It’s like you’re just working to survive. No social life and all. When you’re driving home makakafeel ka talaga na sobrang lonely ng lugar lalo pa’t winter. Pag 30 ko nga i plan to go home na at mag business na lang. wala din naman akong gaanong friends dito kasi busy ang lahat sa work halos di na magkita even on weekends they’re grinding 😭. I have a friend na isang engineer sa pinas ng pumunta dito naging store clerk pero she moved to a different city din to study again.

Pag labas ko ng bahay makita ko lng kapitbahay may ngiti kwentuhan, relax lang. Simple lng buhay kahit mahirap pro masaya. There’s no place like 🇵🇭 . Even if you have paid all your mortgages ,you got your pension , traveling , still the thoughts of going back to my homeland still my priority. Me and my husband has travelled to many places ,US,Can,Uk, and Europe and some part of Asian. But still no satisfactions and for sure we’ll settle down in the Philippines 🇵🇭 soon. High tax rate, expensive housing, and VERY UNREASONABLE qualification for jobs. Most work visas are rejected. Now most people I know from Canada have left.
Part of the problem is that there are too many part time jobs and not enough full time jobs , also the cost of living is simply too high, rents are going through the roof so you have to cram 2 families into a tiny 4 and a half especially in Alberta and BC ,was the same in the 90's when I was living in Surrey, no.way a tiny 3and a half is worth 3000$ anywhere in Canada and that was the 90's
Part of the discussion needs to be that the standard of living is growing worldwide. Highly talented individuals with skills now have options that they didn’t have in the past in there home countries. The gap is shrinking. Think china the opportunities today compared to 30 years ago. We need to up our game and this competition can be a good thing

Be financial literate is a must, create a good credit so that when you need it most the bank will lend you. Then eat,sleep,work, pay your bills, save,invest, take vacation. Repeat the cycle or invest then partly retired early.😊😊
I have lived half of my life in Canada and I can say in the early 2000's is the best time in Canada because cost of living is affordable. But now with the inflation.. the cost of living is so high. I live very minimalist and earning above minimum wage but I am already struggling to pay rent and feed me and my son what more for people who are earning minimum wages. Owning a house is almost impossible. Wages cannot keep up with the inflation plus taxes on wages are very high. House and car Insurance are so expensive and property taxes are ridiculously high. Finding a job is very challenging because employers will hire the person who had Canadian education first before they hire immigrants who had education outside Canada. Weather here is so depressingly cold, there's only 3 months of summer...the rest of the year is very cold. Healthcare system is not as good as before. I dont know if accepting immigrants can help Canada it will only drag the wages down due to many new immigrants. The only people who will benefit on this are the businessess that will pay minimum wages to desperate immigrants. If you are unemployed in the Philippines its ok to come to Canada but if you have a stable job in the Philippines you might as well stay in the Philippines. It's not worth it. The retirement earnings here will barely pay half of your rent. Even people who die here got taxed here. Eating healthy in Canada is expensive because fruits and vegetables are imported. Fish are very expensive here so Filipinos eat a lot of meat- chicken, pork and beef which is unhealthy. This is why Canada has high number of people with Cancer. I miss all the fresh fruits, vegetables and fish in the Philippines. The only thing that holding me back going back to the Philippines is my son. He still doesn't realized the high cost of living here because he is still young. But someday he will realize that there are other places to live where you can live a healthier and happier lives if you learn to live without material things in life.

Those who migrate to Canada from a country where they "suffered" more in various ways will not feel these relatively minor, temporary inconveniences & would be willing to put up with these for long term benefits. Don't forget the native Canadians who are now planning on leaving Canada for the States. Around Texas and Tennessee, the cost of housing is fairly low while the wages are still pretty good, leaving people with the ability to buy a house with only 30% of their family income. Half of the workers at the company where I work at, just North of Toronto, plan on moving out of Canada if rents and the cost of food double from where they are now, they simply won't be able to afford Canada.
I don't understand why anyone would want to come to the US right now. Our housing situation is out of control. Food, gas and utilities are also expensive.
Not recognizing credentials and experience from home countries is a HUGE problem in Canada. Its efforts to seek benefits from immigration will be useless if this continues. In fact it will create integration issues which will create social issues. The Canadian government needs to slap employers on the wrist to stop obsessing over this local experience madness.
But this credentials thing is not only in canada. You cant just simply accept a degree from another country. But they should make a standard test for foreign to take and not make them go to the university again for 4-5 years.
Not all countries, nor credentials are the same. To be specific, you cannot compare the top 15 Canadian universities with universities from immigration countries that are not even in the top 500 world rankings. The immigration policies are out of touch with reality - both local and foreign.

I am a Canadian citizen and I left in 2010. I live in the US and I became a US citizen. I can buy today a house I can call home in Houston Texas for a 250K US being 40 minutes by car to Houston. That is impossible in Canada. Canadians pay more taxes than Americans already plus winter tax ( all things you need to buy to have a life during winter). If you are a Canadian Citizen with no prospects to get a home, you may consider coming to the US. Despite all issues we have, it is still a better deal I find.

It's good that you're pointing out mass migration because that is indeed one of the root causes of Canada's predicaments. Immigration is a good thing if it is kept at reasonable levels and if the people coming into the country have skills that can produce housing or jobs. But many of the immigrants that are going into Canada can neither work in construction nor establish enterprises that will hire the locals.

I even have another fellow who are already rich and stable in the Philippines…….but he seemed not happy and contented of what he have; because his reasons are massive corruption, relentless poverty, rampant crime rates, worse injustices and social imbalance and social divide (you name it)………and it’s all those fuss that always bothers him, he finally had enough………he went back to studying and training for a few years, and settle all his and al his family’s papers and documents………..arranged everything all in time, until one day………..HE SOLD ALL HIS POSSESSIONS AND ALL OF HIS PROPERTIES IN THE PHILIPPINES AND THEIR FAMILY MOVED ALTOGETHER IN CANADA, at first, everything went well, but as always……nothing is permanent. The harsh winters may be another reason why many immigrants also leave. Most of them come from the tropics, or countries where the winters are mild; it’s too much of a shock to get used to.
Though that applies to recent batches of immigrants, please remember that just because they came from countries closer to the equator doesn't mean that they don't get harsh winters. Many countries have mountains and many countries may be at higher altitudes than most Canadian towns and cities. Yes, winters are harsh here, but frankly if you dress for it, you're fine and they know that.

Most migrants will not have experienced a winter like this, unless they're from Tibet, or Siberia.
There are a lot of Canadians leaving. I was surprised to see many Canadians in Bucaramanga and Medellin Colombia. The weather is nice and the quality of life is very good. It's not what you see on Netflix. Thriving economics and affordable housing in very cool areas

Sometimes I wonder who's truly in charge of the country. When the Canadian Immigration and Border Services take three years to process a Permanent Resident application and another three years for a citizenship application, it makes one question the desirability of staying in Canada, especially considering the additional waiting times for health tests and doctor's appointments.
I am Latino '- Chilean. , and with a lot of experience in hr, I left Canada 3 days ago because of lack of opportunities for the Latino, at least in the greater Toronto and Waterloo area where I was there is a lot of discrimination with the Latino and they only hire people from India. a clear example just go to any Walmart in Kitchener and it is full of Indians. I think the discrimination is great. goodbye to the Canadian dream.
Canada decimated it's manufacturing and energy sector on the altar of globalism. We were told that the future would be hi-tech and that we would soon be basking in the wealth of jobs generated by the technology sector. Except for working in an amazon warehouse or driving for Uber, these tech jobs never materialized. Meanwhile the once good jobs that sustained generations of Canadians since the early 1900's are gone. Once a country stops making things it is no longer free.
At this point, migrating to Canada is not a wise move if you are already an establsihed individual professionally/financially. Not worth it, as they say you have to start again and it is hard to find the space that you left from where you came from. Either you have to upgrade your studies to get the status that you expected. One thing too everything in Canada nowadys is soo expensive, 5- 10 years ago housing is affordable now, the rent the prices is up to the roof nobody who is newcomer can afford to have one. Filipino friends of mine and I graduated from the same program this May in Ontario but they already moved to Grand Prairie in Alberta for full time job and I’m probably moving to Halifax for the full time position. Oh I heard of this just last week! Am in Africa and was shocked to learn that a doctor migrating to Canada would not get employed in his profession unless he studies the profession afresh! That would mean a wastage of his 1st 04-05 years in Medical School before Canada! I thought it was batsh*t crazy! Strange to see that it is true!
One major problem is new immigrants lack self respect and will work like dogs and slaves for the employer for low pay and long hours. This turns the work culture terrible for the locals who respect their time and prioritize work life balance.
Better invest in yourself and be an entreprenuer and self sustaining. With the advance technology and social media, be better in any field you choose. Be passion about what you want in life and stick to it. Moving to another country can be daunting and sometimes frustrating and you end up being an employee for life and with INFLATION goin at a faster rate (and there is no signs of going down), it is better to explore your own talents and cultivate entrepreneurial assets so you can be your own boss and not to anyone and not dependent to any country or entity.

I love this country and always will. One of saddest days in my life was when I had to leave it, because I could not see any future for me, staying there at that moment. Now, maybe in the future, I will came back again.
Not recognising foreign credentials are a problem. We lack people with critical skill sets and that is only going to increase. It has been said that Toronto has the world's most qualified cab drivers. The other issues are employment, unbelievably expensive housing and the carbon tax driving up the cost of living.
If our country's educational system could meet the Canadian standard, there would be no problem with our credentials competing in the Canadian workforce. Yes, when you apply here as an immigrant, they require you to have a degree, but it does not guarantee that you could practice it when you get here. Additionally, getting a degree in top universities in Canada is no joke. For example, in medical schools or law schools, they only accept applicants with magna or summa GPA.
As it should be. Despite what is advertised by our corrupt government, you need to be able to speak and articulate in English or French. As a medical professional, bedside manner is a must! But being able to be understood by the current citizens is paramount. You must learn to articulate in English or French, even go for speech therapy, I did. Thick, strong accents are a huge barrier. If you are in healthcare, you must be able to be understood, and you must have a compassionate and caring bedside manner. As for lawyers, no one needs more of those.
This has been an on-going issues since I can remember. Very frustrating to work in jobs not related to your education and experiences. Ang daming efforts just to work in jobs related to your field, going back to school, be certified and daming hurdles. If you have the means, why even bother to go through all these hardships? Ang daming pagtitiis and some people don’t have the energy to wait until life gets better. Simple as that.
I’m a Canadian, I would love to move to Spain one day but I realize my Canadian salary is like double or more of what I would make in Spain (I’m a computer animator). I like Canada for certain reasons, I feel safe and it’s a good place to raise a family if I had one. I live a few cities outside of Toronto, Toronto is super expensive and traffic is crazy. Rent is very high if you don’t make a lot of money and if you live in a bigger city, it gets less expensive if you live farther out, but then you may have a problem with jobs. Anyway… there’s problems everywhere. For my career, Canada is one of my best bets I think. I don’t want to live in the USA even if the pay may be better

I work with many immigrants and yes most want to leave Canada due to high housing costs. When someone wants to move back to an impoverished country, it says lots. The system is messed up when every House, Condo is a Luxury unity, with a Luxury cost!

If youre an immigrant and wanted to have white collar job in canada you must study and earn their canadian diploma or licensure certificate, unless you're a proprietor of a certain business or company. Medyo marami kasing professional dito sa Pinas na ayaw ng blue collar jobs pero balewala kasi ang pagiging md, lawyer, teacher, etc mo pag tungtong mo ng Canada, kukuha ka pa dyan ng course sa na related sa profession mo dito sa Pinas para makatrabaho ka ng ayon sa gusto mo
Honestly, life is very simple in Canada. Work 2 to 3 jobs for 30 years to pay off your million dollar house then retire in your 60s then end up in nursing home in your 70s or 80s then you die. The end.

I moved to Europe and then Asia. Lived in a few places. Of all the countries I've moved to as an expat, Canada offered the worst value for dollar and worst quality of life. UK, UAE, Japan, all better than Canada. The Philippines sucked as a serious expat and even then at least for the poor quality services and infrastructure, costs of rent and cellphone service were low to match.

I am an Indian who came here for a graduate degree at a top school on scholarship, my family nor me are very rich, we are comfortably middle class, and coming here opened my eyes to how good healthcare is for the average person in India. Apart from who are truly destitute Indian healthcare is almost as universal as Canadian healthcare with imo much much much better competency. Drugs are easier to get too. The only drugs that are easier to get in Canada are the wrong kind you see people take outside metro stations. I abhore the Canadian healthcare system, especially in cities like vancouver, toronto and montreal. Having to wait 18 hours in ER for a consultation while I am dying of pain in my whole face. Yeah no thank you.

Talking with Canadians about the recent five to ten years you get the picture of what's wrong with the country, and it all begun with an unjustified inflation that has removed purchasing power from millions of people. This directly affected the bottom line of housing affordability and without a high-paying job everything collapses.
Inflation in inevitable in a capitalistic-driven economy. Canada and the world are driven by the toxic, unsustainable market capitalistic economic incentives for profit maximization. That is the major cause of the challenges for affording life in Canada, and all over the world. The areas that seem to do better, generally have more social supports, like Finland or Denmark, or full of really rich people like Monaco.
The system is the sickness. That is what needs to change if we want to have a better life to look forward to. The answer is mostly definitely not voting a new party in power. That is something people can do, when it is time, hopefully after doing their research, but that is 2 years away for Federal change of politics in Canada, so if people think that is answer, they are fooling themselves.
Want real change? Start educating yourself more and sharing it with others. Many sources are out there: Channels such as Second Thought, Our Changing Climate, World Beyond Capitalism, TZMOfficialChannel, Moneyless Society, Democracy at Work and Michael Tellinger are some great sources to start with.

I know that is not common knowledge but it is true. You are free to do you own research or challenge me on any of these points, and I can point to the sources and/or explain the reasoning.
The solution is building a better system, from the bottom-up, community level first, with willing others, so that we do have a future to look forward to. With cooperation, collaboration and co-ownership, we can start doing this today, and well into 2024.

There are other reasons too, like sharply declining healthcare. Overall, Canada is a country in "free fall".

Austria is, for example, a country that I admire a lot (search how Vienna is addressing housing)! The government HAS to work for its citizens, not for some interest groups. There is no need for reinventing the wheel, study the countries that are doing well and apply (what is applicable) to your country. After all, Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, etc. are not in some other galaxy so there are commonalities.

The ones who go back to Colombia because they are better financially only represents like less than the 5% of the population, for the majority of the rest even living as a homeless in Canada is a huge upgrade for how they live in Colombia.

- you have to wait 3 hrs to see a doctor in a clinic or 8 hrs in a hospital
-you don't get paid enough to live comfortably
- rent is 75% of your income if not 90% and buying a home is impossible ( landlords won't properly fix anything either and you're lucky to even get one that's not some management company that you can rarely even get through to or passsed on to voicemail machines)
- you get to travel the country on one lane roads where you can't pass for like an hour
-you freeze your butt off and have a prime minister mandate stuff and then freeze your money when you try to enact free speech
-you get live with mice and sometimes roaches because land lords are allowed/enabled to be slum lords
- you can't afford groceries which most nearly as much as you pay in rent a month
-you get paid unlivable wages and poor treatment from employers
-you see people all over the place dying or hunched over high on drugs
-you see homeless people everywhere that the government doesn't properly help
-it's insanely cold but you can't afford to heat your home
-where there's many bed bug problems all over the place
-there's tons of crime all over the place because the police do nothing even if you call them for help
-no one is held accountable and just pass the buck off to someone else while the problem only gets bigger
-tuition costs a fortune, there's no guarantee you'll get a career position, most jobs are only part-time offered, or temporary positions
- the streets are filthy and everyone smokes, vapes, does drugs right next to you in public

Issues Canada faces:
1. Try to find a family doctor accepting new patients. Canada has a doctor shortage.
2. Housing.. either housing is over priced or employees are under paid.
The other problems, like over priced groceries are small potatoes compared to the first 2 problems. If Canada tackles housing affordability and medical staff shortages, it has a million other positive aspects going for it.
Oh I heard of this just last week! Am in Africa and was shocked to learn that a doctor migrating to Canada would not get employed in his profession unless he studies the profession afresh! That would mean a wastage of his 1st 04-05 years in Medical School before Canada!

I am a Physical Therapist who tried to get a license in Canada. They turned me down because my school in the USA no longer has a physical seal. They sent my records with an electronic seal. So Canada turned me down. I'm a really good Therapist and I would love to work there. I am a Canadian citizen. I can see why they have a shortage of qualified medical workers.

My wife is Korean, and she and her Korean friends think Canada is clown world, she's constantly amazed how docile native Canadians are to the government, big corporations and far-left activists, letting them get away with incompetence and corruption that would end Korean political careers and destroy political parties in Korea. Basically she said in South Korea politicians and political parties fear the voters and are very careful not to outrage voters, as Korean voters don't blindly vote party lines but will all vote together to punish incompetence and corruption.

The quality of life in the Philippines, no matter how poor we are, could not be compensated by whatever promise there is in Canada. Overall, the Philippines nonetheless has plenty of beauty, comfort, satisfaction, and happiness for those who are hard-working and socially adept to keep their relationships warm with friends and relatives. While there is so much money in Canada, its growing ugly side, which expatriate Filipinos themselves could attest to, is becoming more and more irritating. It is better to invest one's talent in one's native land here and just visit Canada as a dignified tourist than as an unenthusiastic citizen in that country.

Every country may not be suitable for everyone. While the Philippines might be the best option, the problem is that corruption is rampant, and the bureaucracy and healthcare systems are not up to par.

For example a person is paid $4400 per month. That's P180,000 per month. That is huge for the Philippines but barely enough to live in Canada depending where you live. With deductions, only approximately $3000 is left for living expenses per month. $1500 could be for rent only (a 1 bedroom apartment)!

@@jobreferral-v7m The IT industry is significantly weaker than the US IT industry, so I highly doubt that they're making a significant amount of money. It sounds like they're living off financing, which is very common for Millennial Filipinos (and unfortunately many fall into debt). Many Filipinos in IT actually stay in the Philippines since they'll make more than doctors thanks to Fiver/Upwork. It's why I find this a little less believable - it's definitely not the norm. If they were in IT in the Philippines, then they'll objectively have a better quality of life doing online work with American companies while staying in their home country.
This Filipino couple is probably struggling a lot behind the scenes, especially if they came in the past 6 months. You also have to consider utang or sending money back home - many Filipinos come abroad to support their families.

Most jobs are regulated with strict license requirement. The exam OET needed to become a registered nurse in UK is many times simpler than Enclex in US and Canada. Thats the core issue. Only few jobs accept foreign experience and no license like IT. Govt needs to realize this.

Low wages is the biggest problem. I have always said, you don't get rich by saving money, you get rich by earning money. I am not a racist and I have nothing against the immigrants but you have to think logically and understand that when you flood the country so fast with so many immigrants and students that majority start to look minority in their own country, it going to create a cultural shock and employers will exploit paying peanuts for even skilled work simply because there are too many people. Please limit a fair mortgage rate for first home buyers only and give 3x mortgage to 2nd or more home buyers and do strict background check so they don't buy the 2nd/3rd house on their spouse's or kid's name.
I agree that mass migration is ruining Canada. Immigration is good when kept at reasonable levels among foreigners who can be hired to construct houses or those who can establish businesses that produce jobs. But many of the immigrants coming into Canada are neither.

Been living in Van for 17 yrs, now were in Ph more than a year already. Canada is a really beautiful country it is good to migrate if you have enough money to support and live while looking for a job or study or else you were just working your butt just to pay your debt. Be financial literate is a must, create a good credit so that when you need it most the bank will lend you. Then eat,sleep,work, pay your bills, save,invest, take vacation. Repeat the cycle or invest then partly retired early.😊😊
I have lived half of my life in Canada and I can say in the early 2000's is the best time in Canada because cost of living is affordable. But now with the inflation.. the cost of living is so high. I live very minimalist and earning above minimum wage but I am already struggling to pay rent and feed me and my son what more for people who are earning minimum wages. Owning a house is almost impossible. Wages cannot keep up with the inflation plus taxes on wages are very high. House and car Insurance are so expensive and property taxes are ridiculously high. Finding a job is very challenging because employers will hire the person who had Canadian education first before they hire immigrants who had education outside Canada. Weather here is so depressingly cold, there's only 3 months of summer...the rest of the year is very cold. Healthcare system is not as good as before. I dont know if accepting immigrants can help Canada it will only drag the wages down due to many new immigrants. The only people who will benefit on this are the businessess that will pay minimum wages to desperate immigrants. If you are unemployed in the Philippines its ok to come to Canada but if you have a stable job in the Philippines you might as well stay in the Philippines. It's not worth it. The retirement earnings here will barely pay half of your rent. Even people who die here got taxed here. Eating healthy in Canada is expensive because fruits and vegetables are imported. Fish are very expensive here so Filipinos eat a lot of meat- chicken, pork and beef which is unhealthy. This is why Canada has high number of people with Cancer. I miss all the fresh fruits, vegetables and fish in the Philippines. The only thing that holding me back going back to the Philippines is my son. He still doesn't realized the high cost of living here because he is still young. But someday he will realize that there are other places to live where you can live a healthier and happier lives if you learn to live without material things in life.

I want to become self sufficient one day and not dependent on how this government runs there experemented economy. People who runs our government are also human beings they make mistakes.
High taxes , low paying jobs , sit 10 hours in the emergency before seeing a doctor , high cost of living, homelessness and drugs all over Why would one wna stay here ? Work to pay bills? Nah it’s not worth the cost .

Those who migrate to Canada from a country where they "suffered" more in various ways will not feel these relatively minor, temporary inconveniences & would be willing to put up with these for long term benefits. They are willing to work hard & have faith that equitable rewards will be gained in Canada rather than in their own countries. It is those who expect to find the pot of gold in the short term, who will be disappointed.

Don't forget the native Canadians who are now planning on leaving Canada for the States. Around Texas and Tennessee, the cost of housing is fairly low while the wages are still pretty good, leaving people with the ability to buy a house with only 30% of their family income. Half of the workers at the company where I work at, just North of Toronto, plan on moving out of Canada if rents and the cost of food double from where they are now, they simply won't be able to afford Canada.

Not recognizing credentials and experience from home countries is a HUGE problem in Canada. Its efforts to seek benefits from immigration will be useless if this continues. In fact it will create integration issues which will create social issues. The Canadian government needs to slap employers on the wrist to stop obsessing over this local experience madness.
But this credentials thing is not only in canada. You cant just simply accept a degree from another country. But they should make a standard test for foreign to take and not make them go to the university again for 4-5 years.
Not all countries, nor credentials are the same. To be specific, you cannot compare the top 15 Canadian universities with universities from immigration countries that are not even in the top 500 world rankings. The immigration policies are out of touch with reality - both local and foreign.

I am a Canadian citizen and I left in 2010. I live in the US and I became a US citizen. I can buy today a house I can call home in Houston Texas for a 250K US being 40 minutes by car to Houston. That is impossible in Canada. Canadians pay more taxes than Americans already plus winter tax ( all things you need to buy to have a life during winter). If you are a Canadian Citizen with no prospects to get a home, you may consider coming to the US. Despite all issues we have, it is still a better deal I find.

It's good that you're pointing out mass migration because that is indeed one of the root causes of Canada's predicaments. Immigration is a good thing if it is kept at reasonable levels and if the people coming into the country have skills that can produce housing or jobs. But many of the immigrants that are going into Canada can neither work in construction nor establish enterprises that will hire the locals.

The harsh winters may be another reason why many immigrants also leave. Most of them come from the tropics, or countries where the winters are mild; it’s too much of a shock to get used to.
With global warning, the winters are not that harsh anymore. We did not get a lot of snow for the holidays this year..

Though that applies to recent batches of immigrants, please remember that just because they came from countries closer to the equator doesn't mean that they don't get harsh winters. Many countries have mountains and many countries may be at higher altitudes than most Canadian towns and cities. Yes, winters are harsh here, but frankly if you dress for it, you're fine and they know that.

Most migrants will not have experienced a winter like this, unless they're from Tibet, or Siberia.
There are a lot of Canadians leaving. I was surprised to see many Canadians in Bucaramanga and Medellin Colombia. The weather is nice and the quality of life is very good. It's not what you see on Netflix. Thriving economics and affordable housing in very cool areas

When the Canadian Immigration and Border Services take three years to process a Permanent Resident application and another three years for a citizenship application, it makes one question the desirability of staying in Canada, especially considering the additional waiting times for health tests and doctor's appointments.
I am Latino '- Chilean. , and with a lot of experience in hr, I left Canada 3 days ago because of lack of opportunities for the Latino, at least in the greater Toronto and Waterloo area where I was there is a lot of discrimination with the Latino and they only hire people from India. a clear example just go to any Walmart in Kitchener and it is full of Indians. I think the discrimination is great. goodbye to the Canadian dream.

Canada decimated it's manufacturing and energy sector on the altar of globalism. We were told that the future would be hi-tech and that we would soon be basking in the wealth of jobs generated by the technology sector. Except for working in an amazon warehouse or driving for Uber, these tech jobs never materialized. Meanwhile the once good jobs that sustained generations of Canadians since the early 1900's are gone. Once a country stops making things it is no longer free.

At this point, migrating to Canada is not a wise move if you are already an establsihed individual professionally/financially. Not worth it, as they say you have to start again and it is hard to find the space that you left from where you came from. Either you have to upgrade your studies to get the status that you expected. That thing they licensing bodeis that BS. I guess they have the law I dont know if the ones in power implemented it. One thing too everything in Canada nowadys is soo expensive, 5- 10 years ago housing is affordable now, the rent the prices is up to the roof nobody who is newcomer can afford to have one. You will grow old not owning a house nowadays if you are anewcomer you will be forever a renter.
Canada is super cold, super boring and super woke. With competition from other developed (and more exciting) countries for the qualified workforce, Canada has to change a lot to retain and attract new qualified immigrants. Maybe a good start would be to rescue common sense.

Filipino friends of mine and I graduated from the same program this May in Ontario but they already moved to Grand Prairie in Alberta for full time job and I’m probably moving to Halifax for the full time position. I can easily imagine many new immigrants go through hardship finding a job that provide for family and make a living through housing crisis.

Oh I heard of this just last week! Am in Africa and was shocked to learn that a doctor migrating to Canada would not get employed in his profession unless he studies the profession afresh! That would mean a wastage of his 1st 04-05 years in Medical School before Canada!

Better invest in yourself and be an entreprenuer and self sustaining. With the advance technology and social media, be better in any field you choose. Be passion about what you want in life and stick to it. Moving to another country can be daunting and sometimes frustrating and you end up being an employee for life and with INFLATION goin at a faster rate (and there is no signs of going down), it is better to explore your own talents and cultivate entrepreneurial assets so you can be your own boss and not to anyone and not dependent to any country or entity.

Not recognising foreign credentials are a problem. We lack people with critical skill sets and that is only going to increase. It has been said that Toronto has the world's most qualified cab drivers. The other issues are employment, unbelievably expensive housing and the carbon tax driving up the cost of living.
If our country's educational system could meet the Canadian standard, there would be no problem with our credentials competing in the Canadian workforce. Yes, when you apply here as an immigrant, they require you to have a degree, but it does not guarantee that you could practice it when you get here. Additionally, getting a degree in top universities in Canada is no joke. For example, in medical schools or law schools, they only accept applicants with magna or summa GPA.
As it should be. Despite what is advertised by our corrupt government, you need to be able to speak and articulate in English or French. As a medical professional, bedside manner is a must! But being able to be understood by the current citizens is paramount. You must learn to articulate in English or French, even go for speech therapy, I did. Thick, strong accents are a huge barrier. If you are in healthcare, you must be able to be understood, and you must have a compassionate and caring bedside manner.
As for lawyers, no one needs more of those.

This has been an on-going issues since I can remember. Very frustrating to work in jobs not related to your education and experiences. Ang daming efforts just to work in jobs related to your field, going back to school, be certified and daming hurdles. If you have the means, why even bother to go through all these hardships? Ang daming pagtitiis and some people don’t have the energy to wait until life gets better. Simple as that.

I’m a Canadian, I would love to move to Spain one day but I realize my Canadian salary is like double or more of what I would make in Spain (I’m a computer animator). I like Canada for certain reasons, I feel safe and it’s a good place to raise a family if I had one. I live a few cities outside of Toronto, Toronto is super expensive and traffic is crazy.
Rent is very high if you don’t make a lot of money and if you live in a bigger city, it gets less expensive if you live farther out, but then you may have a problem with jobs.
Anyway… there’s problems everywhere. For my career, Canada is one of my best bets I think. I don’t want to live in the USA even if the pay may be better
Well then stay. According to all surveys, by far the top country most people around the world who do want to immigrate somewhere say it is the US... But we all know Canadians are very bigoted and delusional about what the US is like. Not the stories picked up by the news (which aren't any different than what happens in Canada but that's glossed over ) but actual life for the average person.
I work with many immigrants and yes most want to leave Canada due to high housing costs. When someone wants to move back to an impoverished country, it says lots.
The system is messed up when every House, Condo is a Luxury unity, with a Luxury cost!

If youre an immigrant and wanted to have white collar job in canada you must study and earn their canadian diploma or licensure certificate, unless you're a proprietor of a certain business or company. Medyo marami kasing professional dito sa Pinas na ayaw ng blue collar jobs pero balewala kasi ang pagiging md, lawyer, teacher, etc mo pag tungtong mo ng Canada, kukuha ka pa dyan ng course sa na related sa profession mo dito sa Pinas para makatrabaho ka ng ayon sa gusto mo
