I did a Westbound Crossing about a month ago. As a solo traveler, I opted for fixed dining. Same people every night. I usually went to the solo traveler met ups after breakfast, about a dozen or so regulars. 3 Guest Speakers I went to see, A lady from Woods Hole, a retired US Ambassador and Stephen Payne, designer of QM2. Having done it once, now I understand meeting people on board who were doing their fifth or sixth crossing
Good for you doing the meet ups! I was curious about that but didn’t attempt it. There is a fair amount of return cruisers and I can see why! Thanks for watching!
Loved this overview! As someone in his early 30s, I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed my time on QM2 - what a beautiful experience from start to finish!
Doing this solo myself next week as partner didn’t fancy it flying out to New York on Monday morning for sailing on the Tuesday can’t wait been a long time coming
It will be fun! It is hard to realize you are piloting your own fun but you will get use to it and enjoy it! Content ups if you are interested in meeting people traveling solo! Have a great time! ☀️🚢
A week today I'll be boarding QM2 for my sixteenth voyage on board her (twenty with Cunard on four ships). I can't wait. To say I love this vessel, the only Ocean Liner in the world still in service, is a vast understatement. I first crossed the Atlantic in 2006 on board QM2, my first time with Cunard... intended as a one-time sailing. Was I wrong!
That is amazing! I would imagine if you stepped onto QM2 and experienced the service and wonderful programs awhile ago, it would be hard to switch to anything else! I did appreciate their fine touches! ( the afternoon tea is so fun!). Thanks for the insight. Happy Cruising!
There are several live satellite channels (mostly news) , movie channels (including French and Japanese on my October sailing) , replay of the 'insights' lectures and a live bridge camera.
It was an older crowd but not entirely! I saw younger people mainly with other friends or relatives. Lots of interesting people at any rate! It was a nice experience for me personally! Happy travels!
Guess where you're going... yes... old person in just a few years (it happens far quicker than you can imagine). Let's hope no-one young complains about you.
@martynmiller4247 I'm already older. That's not the point. The people acted like they were in an old folks home, especially the Carintha lounge. I went in there once and did a bee turn. Anyone that doesn't think that are the ones who are just like that. Most look like they should be in rehab instead of sitting and eating all day.
Would you travel on the Queen Mary 2? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments!

Doing just what I did next week can’t wait

You're welcome! Glad it helped. ☀️🚢
Yes! They have wonderful entertainment and enriching presentations on their ships.
Correct. Cunard is traditional too.

We are scheduled for the west bound crossing Sept 2025. We have a Queens Grill Suite booked. So looking forward to it.
That sounds so nice! I know people really enjoyed the suites!! Enjoy every moment! Happy cruising! ☀️🚢
Booked on round trip transatlantic in October 2025. Bucket list trip
Nice! It’s good to experience the elegance and tradition of Cunard. It was so British and enjoyable! Enjoy your cruise!🚢
I’m on the same sailing! Perhaps we will meet at some point.
January 2026 51 days to Sydney Australia.
Wow. That’s a dream! Enjoy!☀️🚢
Do they have tv programs or just about the queen mary

They have their own channel as well as movies and other shows. I didn’t really watch tv but I know there is a selection.
Thanks for the in-depth reply! That is so helpful!
I was on that sailing. Too many old people. But i got across the pond which was my goal. So it served it's purpose.
