iLok is Down and Pro Tools Wont Work! | Here is The FIX!!!! iLok holds the licenses for your protected software. When the iLok cloud goes down, so does a bunch of other stuff including Pro Tools! Here are some ways I have found to continue working.

I’ve had my ilok for absolute years. I’ve got so far 713 licences on it & never had a back up. Doh! I suddenly was paying some attention to it tidy & realised I really should back this thing up. ZDT & TLC done.
I just also thought just how incredibly catastrophic it would be if my ilok burned out or something.
I came to find out about the addition of the cloud option. You’ve just convinced me not to go there at all.

That iLok system is EXACTLY why I won't get Pro Tools. As a truck driver, I don't want to connect my laptop to some strange or spotty wi-fi to use something I'm paying for. Thank you Logic for not puttin us through this b.s.

Hi Wayne, it's the worst thing they ever invented so frustrating ,the moral of this story is don't buy a Daw with an ilok.
Im here cause its down at the moment grr. they want anywhere from $50 - $70 for a lil dongle. That's such a rip off. better than messing up a session but a clear scam.

Hello! I don;t have Ilok protection based plugins yet but I am thinking about getting some and I have a question. So if I have the license on the desktop activated and I want to activate the license on the ilok usb, when I deactivate the license on the desktop will it allow me to copy the license to the usb (not just move it from the desktop) so I have all licenses on the desktop and USB ilok even though they could be activated in one location at a time? So this way this is also like a back up by storing the licenses in the both locations even though I do understand clearly that they can be activated in one location for use at a time.

Crazy. I found this video 2 years after its been posted because Ilok cloud is not working today. How have they not implemented an architecture to mitigate these issues from happening?

Logic Pro X my dude...... coming off ProTools was a rough transition but Im glad I made that change
On the emergency DAW front, Reaper is a good choice. It's tiny to install. It's free for a fully featured trial and the license isn't much more than the price of an ilok key.
this is my first time dealing with this but it is bullish&t... I'm taking your advice and seeing it the deactivation process is available for me..cause honestly I have a deadline of today for these stems and now apparently I'm stuck... This TIP WORKED PERFECTLY!!!!!! Thank you!! Im back to work!!!

It has happened to me a couple of times.
Today has been a full day in the studio as it has been good.
No issues at all.
Except for Melodyne shutting pro tools down after committing the changes to that insert.
It was easier to print instead of committing.

That sounds hella risky to deactivate the pro tools subscription. I've seen that you can drag the Pro tools subscription to the ilok usb icon...I'm getting an ilok 3rd generation key, ordered one and will arrive soon. Is it necessary to deactivate the pro tools subscription? I'm using Windows.

Simple solution thank you!! You're right this cloud Avid Licence thing has been driving me nuts, Happened to me in the middle of printing mixes to go to mastering. I had to re print them to make sure that All the UAD plugins I had on the cloud were activated when I printed. It's so Irritating, really bad on avid they should sort this out because it is actually getting in the way of people working!

I haven't went full on pro tools yet because of the stories like this.. my main DAW is Studio One and its been pretty stable for me other than a crash here and there and I hear a lot of engineers been low key switching to studio one.. this how you make your living they need to stop playing with your money 💰 😒

having to learn where the tools are so been still working only in protools still
but looks like protools after all these years busting my ass to learn it
has convinced me to just convert over to Logic Pro sick of the crashes

That's why I bought the protools that came with the ilok. It was the same price people! Don't rely on the cloud for shit, get all your plugins offline and turn your WiFi off on your studio computer

It's pretty obvious that iLok isn't about protecting the consumer's licenses, but is about preventing piracy for the companies whose licenses they store.

@@abbiecotto Sorry I'm late man and yes it was. I'm on a Macbook and what I did to make it easier if it happens again is I put the Ilok manager in my dock so I can get to it quick and redirect the licenses where they need to be.
My ilok is in the clouds ☁︎☁️
Hey, first of all just want to say thanks for all the helpful content you upload 👍 secondly.. I decided to get pro tools, on a monthly subscription. Iv downloaded and installed it. When i load it up, its asks me to log into my iLok account.. (I dont have the ilock usb) when I login to ilock it says I dont have any licenses..and I just don't know how I can fix it. Have you got any tips for this?
Totally understand the frustration. team avid share the same frustration as well. Besides the downtime, they also decided to turn off their status page status. ilok. com which tells users what issues are happening. So sorry for the troubles. the avid team is already in meeting with PACE (ilok) and are reevaluating structure and precautions so these awful blockers don't happen again.
I work for a uni in the IT dept and I dont use Pro Tools but I set up license software. I have set up about 70 different licenses on our network services and trying to get this iLok network license to work h as been the most difficult and fustrating one I have done

I hope one day Studio One becomes the "Industry standart" DAW and everyone see where the truth is. Just use Studio One or any other DAW and get rid of the headache!
Oof, I remember when this struck. Luckily I wasn’t actively working at the time due to study, but it was a pain and took me days to fix it after the servers were back. Like I was out of commission because I had to refresh my cloud session. Bought a key first chance I got after that. Then a few weeks later some people I knew were working a session and decided to use collaboration cloud. After a good long session, the servers went down and they lost it all. I never took my chances with that garbage, I’ve always got at least 3 storage mediums on me at all times when I work a studio gig

I just bought FabFilter and every time I put the license on the plugin it tells everything’s good and to close pro tools and then when I reopen it, it tells me to put the license again and it’s been happening over and over
They need to port Protools and all Waves Bundles over to IOS! All future Macs will be built on IOS footprint with the new chips and there are more mobile music production being used now more than ever! Especially as a content creation unit and for portable broadcast setups!

I’d been using ilok cloud to use the same license on different stations and was thinking protools was automatically booting up on the one I wasn’t using. I almost erased it from that computer trying to fix it because it was so frustrating.

This time all other daws beats "Protools" lol. Remember WAVY told us he use Protools and we should too. Hey, Wavy I have a question. When I am getting ready to record vocals, my microphone seems to always cut in and out in certain areas of the recording. Now I know it's not the mic nor is it the preamp for this issue, but could there be a reason behind this, and perhaps a solution to this problem? If so, just please holler at me at a given chance. I had this happen to me several times, once it was the mic cable 🤦🏽♀️ and another it was that I had a plug-in on the track I was recording on that had me in a demo mode. It was doing that to me on purpose! Ha! Do you have a lot on the track? Or are you bussing.. I think it was nectar that was doing that.
Id say either a plugin causing too much analog Or a Bad Xlr Cable Could Just Be A Faulty Mic also
