Boniface Mwangi is a photojournalist activist who documented the post-election violence in Kenya in 2007, and has been arrested many times for denouncing political injustices. He is a two time recipient of the CNN Photojournalist of the Year Award. He has established PAWA254 in Nairobi which is an Art Rising collective where visual arts is used to power social justice. It is an Arts and Artivism hub based in Nairobi. PAWA254 is a workspace that offers workshops, trainings, forums and events for all artists who are creating for social impact. PAWA254 empowers young professionals and disadvantaged youth to effect social change through new innovative projects.

With a good ending for once!
I am ashamed of myself for not having watched Softie. I can’t even recall hearing about it being in cinemas.
I love that it focused on Njeri and the kids’ journey too. I remember watching Selma, and crying rivers the entire movie because I could not imagine what life was like for Coretta Scott as Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. engaged in the civil rights movement.
Whenever Softie is available for us to watch again, I will definitely do it.
That closing statement by Mugambi hits home. Fifty years from now when I am an old Mzee living out my sunset years,if I won't have joined the ancestors, I will have the satisfaction of seeing my grandkids and great grandkids learning through Softie of a courageous, virtuous man named Boniface Mwangi who gave his all for the country. And I'll be there to do a DJ Afro commentary on when he brought pigs for mpigs to parliament and when he fought for Langata road primary school ground and many more.

Look Boniface, go the path Njugush has taken with TNT2. Yes you don't need the money but people are willing to pay , you can use the cash for PAWA . It's time you allow us to pour into you. Please reconsider and allow us to also give you props by buying your product. Will check out the book.

I made it a point to go watch Softie when it came out at the cinema. I can’t express how I felt afterwards.
I wish this movie can be showcased kwa mtaani like how the Facture back in the days the movies on lorries and we could sit on hours and watch. Unfairly judged Boniface for a very long while. I was caught in the negative spin that the powers that be had made him out to be; and for a pretty significant amount of time. Most times he was right about many things than he was wrong about them. All I see is a patriot doing patriotic things.
I just noticed that Softie is available on RUclips. I wonder whether Boni is finally able to make money from it 🤔
