    Thanks Rooney, I have just picked the older version of this game at a convention and your explanation was very helpful in understanding how to play the game.

    Thanks Rodney. Discovered we played a rule wrong! We thought the Prestige Cards also added the 2 advisor's strength to checking majority. Now I understand they are there just to say you need two of that advisor to claim the card.

    12:45 - Withdrawing on First Turn: Did they change the rules in the new(er) edition? I'm pretty sure, you draw first from the top of the deck, then pick and choose from the display by the original rules. Which of course makes a difference, because you might reconsider based on the card, you just drew blind.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  2 года назад +1

      I never played the original edition, so I really can't say.

  • @fmargueirat

    Maybe I missed it, but what happens if the withdrawing players ties in the number of symbols with another player?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  5 лет назад +3

      They won't get anything - you need to have the most.

    What happens when I withdraw and have no majority rather have a tie (in terms of advisors)? For example (in a four player game), I (player A) am withdrawing and I have two monks, and player C has two monks as well (both player B and D have already withdrawn). Does it mean no one will claim monk token at the end of this visit? Or if I withdraw and discard my pile, then obviously C has majority with two monk cards and will automatically claim the monk token. Is it the case? That will be a flaw then. Right?

      Hi Faisal, I usually do my best to answer all questions on the videos I make, but I don't have my copy of this game currently, and I shot this long enough ago that I don't know the answer to this question. You might find it helpful to visit the game's page on Board Game Geek and see if this question is answered there.

    If a crown palace is placed in a city which already contains another palace, when the crown is returned to the supply at the end of the visit, does that city now have 2 palaces for the rest of the game?

    Anyone know if the card physical quality is good? Im thinking about replacing my copy that is still in great shape for the new one just cause the cards are easier to understand, I find too many players confused with the old design.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 лет назад +2

      I don't know what the card quality is like in the first edition, but I think you'll be happy with the card stock here.

    Great video, as always! So is the Taj Mahal token just a 4 pt bonus to the first player who withdraws with a majority on the last visit, assuming they claim that city?

      It seems to be exactly the same as the previous, just looks different. (cards will be easier to understand for sure) and Im pretty sure there wasnt a 2 player variant in the box.

    Great review Rodney. I can't explain why but every time you say "And that's the setup" I feel so relieved, like a weight has been lifted from my soul 😂.
    I have one question though, I hope you have the time to answer it, keeping in mind this is an old video. This game is voted by the majority on BGG as a 12 year old and up game but it doesn't seem that complicated to me. I think my 9 year old (and a half) could play it, what do yo think?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  2 года назад +2

      Interesting question! I always find it tricky to assess this, because I think it's VERY dependent on the child. My son and I were playing games more complicated than this when he was at a younger age, but he had an interest and a decent teacher (if I may say so) - and I built his knowledge up slowly over time (I didn't start him on Caverna). Could someone younger than 12 play this? Certainly! Could someone whose 30 struggle with this? Certainly! It's so hard to assess.

    • @xeptyon
      @xeptyon 2 года назад

      @@WatchItPlayed Thank you for such a speedy response 😄. And don't sell yourself short, you're a master teacher 🔥. What you said it really got me thinking, it's a really good point. Not always is about age but about "game maturity", of course some mechanics and theme can be too much for certain ages but what you said it's really wise.
      Thanks again Rodney! You're the man.

    Why must you make every game sound so appealing when I'm on a "no new games I still have 93 Gloomhaven scenarios to get through" diet?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 лет назад +2

      I'm here to test your will power - and I mean, you'll finish those 93 scenarios eventually, and then what? :)

    • @thankukorea

    So what was the point of the Crown? Does it just let you put down another palace over a claimed palace?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 лет назад +3

      Right! Which can be helpful if you're trying to link your palaces together and someone else got to a key spot first.

    • @thankukorea
      @thankukorea 6 лет назад

      so when you get one point if you have any palaces in an area. After you finish placing your palaces if you have an interrupted line of roads from palace to another palace (of yours) you get a point for every province you go thru. (hope that made sense. So the crown allows you to place a palace counts for the spot its next to when connecting roads. (In other words it gives you flexibility connecting palaces where otherwise you'd be blocked by an opponent)

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 лет назад

      Right, the Crown Palace, let's you go somewhere that you normally couldn't (because another players palace would be blocking you).
