Glad you enjoyed the trip and that was a great review. If you ever get out to Arizona again try to hit some of our dark sky sites!!!! There's a few in northern az, southern colorado, and west New Mexico...
Wow John, that looks like a fun little scope. Super impressed with what you were able to snag from here in the city. We live on the peninsula too. I normally view in the country about an hour west, but based on what you showed in this test, I'll have to try my rig in town too. Cheers 👍
Sir I have a doubt pls reply I have a telescope Celestron 114eq is it required to polar align the telescope when I was new I don’t know about polar alignment I see objects in space like planets it’s look fine but is it necessary to polar align the telescope
You haven’t said what type of mount you have. If it is an eq mount, see my video: How to use and EQ mount. The purpose of polar aligning an EQ telescope is to keep an object within the field of view by turning only the RA axis.
@@LearnToStargaze I have eq mount I think polar alignment does not matter to much for eq mount for dobsonian it does not even matter but for star tracker it’s really important
@@adityakarade8034 you can’t polar align a Dobsonian. If you use an eq mount without polar alignment, it just means you have to use both slow motion controls to stay on target. Star trackers are for astrophotography, which is a different hobby from stargazing.

Thank you for the review! Nice Telescope and of course and a very nice trip with all these astronauts. Funny to hear that they, although they're from the profession (at least somehow) :) they never looked at these objects 😁 I was wondering if you used a barlow for visual use. I'm looking for a Scope which my AZ-GTI can handle but looking at all this gear you attached, that will probably work. As I would use it for visual mainly, It has to fit in my backpack so I can take it on my bike.
Interesting video. How does this Skywatcher 82ED compare to the cheaper 102/1000 mm First Light ES achromat ? Which one delivers a better image quality and resolution ?
Great video! I guess you're in Nova Scotia, beautiful province! I enjoyed my east coast trip from just outside Toronto where I live. Amazing you were invited out to Arizona, can't beat that, now you just need an H-alpha solar scope, trust me you'll love it if you don't already have one. Clear Skies!
@@LearnToStargaze Nice, I had the PST, it was my first solar scope and I loved it, I now am waiting for my Lunt 60 (had one and sold it years ago) If you saw the image I managed with my old PST using only my phone you’d be surprised.
@@mattk5020 Telescopes go on mounts, mounts go on tripods. You'd need to get a telescope mount. The 5" Mak would gather about 2.5 times more light, and have 1.5x better resolution. The advantage of the 82mm scope is that it's better for astrophotography, it has a lower focal ratio, and is designed to produce flat fields (with a field flattener).
I have not, but the review would likely be similar to this one, the lenses in the evostar use the same technique, they’re just slightly slower for a given aperture. They also don’t have as modern mechanics as the exolux. I actually had a whole section on that in the video, I just deleted it for brevity.
It looks like you attached a Celestron StarSense Explorer dock for your cell phone. I didn't know that you could do that. Can you buy it separately to attach to a telescope?
Celestron gave me the 130DX for a previous video. I used the mount from that. Made finding objects in the city a breeze! StarSense does not seem to care about light pollution.
I just grabbed a tripod from a StarSense 130 Celestron sent me for a previous video. You could buy an Omni 102Az from Costco for $139 (in the USA) and use that tripod as well.
Yeah, we talked extensively about that, but it made the video way to long. The quality in the optics in these APOs more than makes up for the 20% smaller aperture.
@@Fatal_Inertia most astronomy club members don’t even have a telescope. I went to a national asteonomy club meeting once (RASC GA 2019) and I was the only one who brought a telescope!
hi, as i am starting astrophotography i would like to find a good telescope which will be mainly for observing planets, i would also like to buy a camera for good quality photos, a canon camera would be useful but i don't know what model, i would like a telsscope and the camera was not used and the telescope cost around $400 and the camera around $400 max, I would be very grateful for your help
The best planetary images seem to be from large aperture SCT telescopes like the C8 (I got mine on eBay for ~$300. There are specialized planetary imaging cameras with small pixels, ZWO makes these for around $200.
I’d get the 62mm version of this scope, the sky adventurer GTI, A ZWOASI533mc camera, 30mm guide scope+ 120mm guide camera, and an ASIAIR to get started.
@@LearnToStargaze IMO evolux 82 is too big and too long focal lenght for swsa (no gti). It's even with flattener 477mm. Without guiding it will be impossible to get over 30s of good exposure, and even with it you're nearly on capacity limit. Evolux 62 with 400mm (and 360mm with flattener) will be much better companion for swsa and you loose only 117mm (easily you can crop it)
Hi I’m a big fan hope you reply but I just got the Celestron Astro master Lt 70az because you made a video on it. Any tips to do something cool with it thanks! Edit: I live in Dubai by the way so light pollution is 📈📈📈
There are a couple advantages over a photographic lens. Photographic lenses need to be stopped down and use many glass elements. With telescopes like these you have less elements which leads to less loss of light. They don’t have an iris so they have to be optimised for full open aperture and the optics are mainly made to show stars (dots of light) as dots. Photography lenses need to correct for more errors but often have trouble showing stars as the pinpoints of light they are. Cost and other factors also have effects but in the end each is a different tool for a different job.
@@michaelklemm-abraham7298 "Photographic lenses need to be stopped down" -- Why? Are you talking about flattening the field? I believe telescopes use field flatteners, too, don't they?
@@mountainhobo if you have a doublet or triplet lens in you telescope you need a flattener. 4 or 5 element telescopes don’t need a flattener. Stopping down the lens is necessary to reach optimal sharpness or showing stars as what they are: points of light not blobs.
@@LearnToStargaze Understand. Its just that it seems like in the past it felt more like an attempt to help out people starting out than that of the past few vids. I wasn't intending to be negative or anything. I have eyed that scope. Its not a bad price but not sure if the short focal length works for me. Anyway it was a good vid and do hope to see more!

The Evolux is designed for astrophotography, so it should have sharper stars, and less aberrations.
