I was going to experiment with it, but seeing as you at least test drove was curious how it went setting the dome parameters. Thanks!!
Yes it's a pain in the ass to be honest. Adjusting the Dome Offset helps a little and you can force the dome to the right place.. but it gradually rotates out of sync because the top OTA is riding so high. SGPs dome geometry sucks (I assume) but it's the better one so far. If push comes to shove I'll turn slaving off and manually nudge it to keep things ticking along. Hope to solve properly eventually.
Yeah. I feel like straight up and down it lines up, but once it rotates, it's going to have a tight tolerance. I have advertisers so I have to make the sex jokes easter eggs they won't notice.
Hah I heard that too, LOL that was a large ... connection wasn't it?
Nice. Wait, does it even get that cold in Australia?
Yes! Sometimes I have to wear a jumper!
@@DylanODonnell At what temp do you think it becomes cold?
A “Hell freezes over” video? Thought that would be reserved for the one where Dylan does visual astronomy and waxes lyrical about eyepieces. 😂
Or gets religion.
My Ghosh! Why I am such an avid watcher of your channel Dylan! You got everything! Question ❓ what are trying to show with this scope? Wide field?
Thx Ray! Yeh just a wide colour preview.. not my main imaging scope ultimately :)
@@DylanODonnell Awesome 👍 I don't get on twitch often. Do you mind sending simulcast on RUclips? Looks like I am missing some live events!! I still owe you what I promised!!
dylan.. wtF was at 4:06. you have some explaining to do.
My rig is starting to look a lot like yours. C11 Edge in a NexDome on a massive EQ mount (mine's a CEM120). So now I think I need to put a refractor on top. Just wondering if there's enough clearance for both scopes to see through the shutter for any sky position. It looks like the shutter is barely wide enough.
It’s tricky actually .. I fiddle with the offset to get the top scope clear but it’s not as precise as I’d like for both.
Did’ja use the focal reducer? Yep, ya did!
I've done this meme before, albeit with a smaller FL of 750 on the big scope guiding the smaller scope. Still, it works really nice. I mean, I'm not going to buy a guide scope for my guide scope when I want to image off my guide scope... right?
Best hair ever. You should start a band :)
Wait are you an astrophotographer or a visual astronomer? Hard to tell with all that hair. 🔥
g`day dylan so your dancing with the devil in hopefully no moon light lol .......cant wait to see what you can do with the evolux 72.. tonight looks good in sydney... hope your house came out of the floods in good shape and the family is all ok ...all part of living in paradise the rest of the time i guess ... great video mate cheers
james D
thanks man! power had to be safety checked and repaired but otherwise ok!
Been waiting 4 months for my filed flattener/reducer...
It's a bit like that these days isn't it?
you got the taste for a refractor. lol Can you tell me what camera you are using on the OAG
Just a little zwo 120mm on the OAG. Works a treat :)
@@DylanODonnell WOW!😳 I'm looking at getting the Celestron OAG for my c8 and was told that my 120mm mini wouldnt cut it! proof is in the pudding. Cheers
Hi Dylan. My name is Ed and I'm located In Va Beach Va USA. A few nights ago I used my Nikon P900 and recorded several off the wall still shots. Is it possible to send them to you for your review.? I'm happy to give permission to have them on your channel if appropriate. I suspect something was off because my camera should not have had the angle to catch whatever it is. Ed
ruclips.net/video/5nTXdjSn6kw/видео.html :)
@@DylanODonnell I sent the pictures to your business email. Be sure to zoom
Australia is either on fire or under water I guess. Tough luck on that. M42 looks good there.
What was that at 4:06?🤣
Standard insertion ;)
Nice one.
You definitely need a C11 for a stable base for that refractor.
Does the trick :) $12k mount for $1.5k OTA 😂
Nice!
I also like the green adonized steel. I think all green anodized aluminum would be better were it green adonized steel. :P
What frame rate is the camera on your new guide scope ?
Little ED scope :”it’s not the size it’s how you use it”. C11: “ I got this”
LOLS
Long hair Dylan? I've been growing mine since before COVID. It's almost down to my waist now ;)
Yes I've given up on social norms throughout the pandemic too.
6:27 Nice burn to the visual astronomers 😂
Who, me??
Where did you get this lab coat?
Are the purple stars there because of the telescope(glass) or just because it was without a cut off filter?
Yeh no filter at all.
Adonised!
you need to link your twitch in the description 😃
Probably a good idea .. thx 🤣
seriously considering between the 82ed and 72ed, keep hearing people saying with the cost of 82ed + red/ff might as well get the esprit, would you agree?
I think so yes
@@DylanODonnell 72ed it is then lol
First time I have EVER even considered Twitch... Damn you, you have me now considering signing up for yet ANOTHER platform just to see your live stream stuff ...LOL
Hehe it’s a weird beast .. but I like it :)
The Dave Grohl of Oz astronomy :) :P
