There is no reason that someone who is a prostitute can't be around children, so long as she's keeping it away from her kids. I've known several sex workers, who did it because it was the only way they could make enough to support their kids, due to lack of education, etc.. They took care of their kids with those earnings, lived in better housing, be there when they were home after school, then had a babysitter sleep over and do their thing.
Escorts are usually better off, though, as long as they are selective about their clientele, which the majority I've heard of are.
These situations are not always true, but I heard nothing to indicate this woman was doing anything that would cause harm to her kids or anyone else's. Who better than a sex worker to understand how important the education is?

Prost itution / Se x Work Should not be a crime. It is a service to a basic human need, and some people are predisposed to want to choose that work, just any other types of work.
