    I presented my 11 year old grandson with his Great grandfathers hornby train and tender given to his father in 1934. I remember my dad showing me the train and its been stored away ever since. Then I found some 00 guage tracks and my grandson got it going. Hes chuffed to bits with it.

    You can tell it’s early by the GN (Great Northern) Railway wagon. The GN got absorbed into the LNER IN 1923.

      But that does not help date a toy train as they make versions or older actual trains even today.

      @@seaturtledog But back then a trainset was made to reflect current trains. Railway modelling didn't become a hobby for adults until the nostalgia of steam railways set in.

      Yes I've seen the review, £400! Cheep tacky looking and not worth a quarter of the price. Bet they dont sell many. Its an insult to the late Queen!

      Actually, it's worth less now, the value of Hornby O gauge peeked in the early 1990s, and has declined since, declined considerably in the last 10 to 15 years, as many collectors have passed away, and many collections have come on the market, and less people take up collecting these sort of old toy trains.
