nice summary. thank you. am still a newer stacker and honestly it took me over a year to justify buying 'junk' silver. but then i remembered collecting my first coins as a kid, when collecting was about the Mercury, Morgan, Peace....Minot Coin had a flash sale a few weeks ago and i got 3 rolls of quarters from him. and oh yeah was it fun to pick through those, sort em by date, examine the wear. the jingle jangle of those 90% ers is strangely satisfying. cheers
I was buying a lot of junk silver. Then something happened in my family that I had to take care of. I’ve been stacking since 4/21. My stack is still intact but now I’m focusing more on paying down my debt. I’m still watching the markets. My 401k is returning at 14% so I bumped up my contribution. Don’t get stuck on silver only. Have a diverse portfolio. Thanks for another great video. ✌🏻
1. Silver Eagles 2. pre 1965 US Dimes, Quarters & Half Dollars 3. Canadian Maple Leafs & Krugerrands 4. Peace Dollars 5. Morgan Silver Dollars That’s what I stack - I no longer buy rounds or bars - always found they were difficult to resell
1. American Silver Eagles - buying Proof ones since 1990 - have 965 of them 2. 90% Quarters - trying to fill my 50 roll Guardhouse box - currently at 42 rolls 3. Silver rounds - I buy these when premiums (on ASEs) are too high 4. Silver Proof sets - collecting since 1992 and can't give up the habit! Nice video - thank you! I've always loved silver - especially USA silver - so that is what I've been buying for 35 years!
I would love for the Silver Eagles to start being made with some security features like the sovereign coins. Doesn't have to be anything crazy like a Britannia or Maple Leaf but something. Just make it a little more difficult for people to fake. Also it would help justify the premium a bit more.
One problem I have with the ASE's is they are so counterfeited right now. The premiums are stupid expensive too. I'm not sure how you have ASE's at #2 citing those two reasons alone. I would much rather stack maples at a buck fifty over spot. Maples have better security features too. I get 90% from my LCS that I can handpick from the bin for spot. 95% of my stack is Maples and 90% constitutional.
They’re better when you go to sell them . I saw vermillion offer +2.5 buy over spot and is selling them +4.5 over spot. Your maple he only buys at spot.
I believe its easy to acquire ASE's for a low premium if you have a relationship with your LCS. I say "low premium" with $3.50/4 over spot considered low. I can usually get a bit lower on cull quality
Josh your videos are so amazing that I can send them to my 80 year old parents and even just watched it with a 7,9, and 10 year old who totally understood what you were showing them so kudos to you for generational video content and for teaching and preparing our whole family❤

I agree with the list. 👌You mentioned 40% and I realized that aside from a few of them I got in change, I don't have any. So, next time I am going to buy some 40% just to have a little. I'm a big fan of constitutional, and adding a little 40% would add another way to be fractional in a barter situation.
My stack is 1/3 ASE's, then rounds, and bars, and 90% as well. Love it all. Thanks for the video, need to get the word out (government does not want you to take fiat dollars away from their control). Shine on, silver, awayyyy.
It's been ages since I bought any silver, I used to get old sterling silverware. It was all for casting and it was the cheapest form of silver that was reliably sterling. If I bought enough of it I could get it for below spot in those days. The coin store made more selling it to me than they could get selling it to a refiner, and it was of course a lot cheaper for me than buying sterling casting grain from a place like Swest or TSI (both of those companies are long gone now). I made silver jewelry and put myself through school with it. Best way to invest in silver I ever found ;)
If I may ask for an answer, I see that you have a lot of different and relatively older coins, and they all seem to be preserved. I am interested in the maintenance method, what if white or yellow spots appear, is the storage method important and do you clean it if it appears?
That's why, if you buy rounds, go for well known private mint that they don't always stamp their mint on the round. Some well known are Scottsdale Mint, Sunshine Mint, Northwest Territorial Mint, Intaglio Mint, etc.

Thanks for the insight - always good to hear what’s going on at the front line. Good video 👍. Due to taxes here in the UK I stack pre-owned Britannias, .925 Sovereign ‘crowns’ (very low premiums) and Maria Theresa Thalers (3/4 ounce) which have virtually no premium.
Right now I’m stacking random 90% $5 commemorative US gold coins. Premiums are cheap and I love that it’s government issued by the US and gold! However I do have a nice chunk of 90% and have been thinking about getting some more. Thanks for sharing! -PiFS 🐀
why do you think the premiums are cheap? you get what you pay for. as you prepare for the collapse of the us govt, the coins will not be worth anything when the country that backs them has collapsed. think it over carefully
The Morgan’s and Peace are some of my favorites, but you will pay more per ounce than any other silver. $25. which is quite a good price for them will cost you $33.62 per ounce or $5. to $8. over spot.
In reference to your comment about the authenticity of the silver round I would have a ping tester on me and ping the silver round on the ping coin ap to test the frequency to authenticate it. You can't fake a ping
Asking your LCS for any new stuff they got is a good start but I ask for impaired soverigns since I can usually talk them down, maples, eagles, brits, if they have any scratches or even milk spotting I talk them down to +1$ over spot and I think thats a deal. Owner just does not like having imperfect soverigns in his case so I take them off his hands. Not a consistent way to stack but a nice way to add a little over time and keeps you relevant by going to your shop often to see how theyre doing. Otherwise us 90% is the best in terms of low premium. Ive had days where its a few cents over spot with an average of 20 cents over spot.

Bullion by Post are selling them for £90 inc VAT! There are other prices in-between but no one else comes even close to Atkinsons. It's having to pay 20% VAT that is the real killer on all silver in the UK. I stack Canada, UK and Australia, because I don't want to own anything that can't be authenticated with the naked eye. These mints use very detailed designs and if they are counterfeited, wouldn't resemble the originals. I'm not enthusiastic about constitutional silver or Silver Eagles or Philharmonics for that reason. If I did want 90% coins I'd prefer the halves, since they would still be full weight, but I assume they are counterfeited, as I know the quarters and dimes are. I can't expect someone to accept such coins when I wouldn't trust them myself. Besides, Australia and the UK are dirt cheap, and Canada is fairly priced. Thank you for this video. I am fortunate enough to have a LCS that will sell off-quality American Silver Eagles at the same price as one ounce silver rounds. I usually buy every one in the tray. Today when silver was between $28 and $29, I bought thirteen ASE’s at $30 each (plus CA tax 😩). Yeah they’re off-quality, but still can’t beat that price IMO.
G'day from Australia. Can't go past the sovereign 1 Ounce silver kangaroo here. Cheapest i can get. Here it is cheaper than rounds. Today an American Eagle would have cost me $41.09 US Dollars compared to a Kangaroo for $34.50 US
I thoroughly disagree with where you put Canadian Maples. Due to their protection from milk spotting, security features, and purity, good premiums, I put them in second or third place.
I've only got 1 full tube of phils, they're probably my least favorite sovereign coin. They're just boring in my opinion, but hey, a deal is a deal! Get em cheap!
All comes down to what your LCS may or may not want to buy, or can liquidate to his wholesaler if cash flow gets tight. Diversify and buy whatever has the lowest premium at the time. Premiums change, as we've all seen.
I like the 10oz, I have a couple 5oz's....I feel like the 5oz is almost 200 and for 100 more you get another 5ozs. I'm trying to buy a 1/2 ounce platinum eagle 1st, cause I want to at least have alittle bit of everything but afterwards I want to do the 10oz silver next.
90 , Eagles , 10 oz , rounds , then foreign
G'day from Australia. Can't go past the sovereign 1 Ounce silver kangaroo here. Cheapest i can get. Here it is cheaper than rounds. Today an American Eagle would have cost me $41.09 US Dollars compared to a Kangaroo for $34.50 US
Been thinking of starting to buy some silver although I don’t know where to start. You’re an Ozzie and I’m a Kiwi. Any suggestions mate?
I like to buy Peace dollars; George V and VI Canadian dollars; and barber halves. Also would like South African 5 shillings with George VI.
I thoroughly disagree with where you put Canadian Maples. Due to their protection from milk spotting, security features, and purity, good premiums, I put them in second or third place.
Q: How do you feel about cull silver eagles? Get them however you can I'm assuming. Great video!
is fractional silver becoming scarce in your area? Because every day trade will be impossible with large weights of silver when SHTF
Good stuff
I’m getting Austrian Philharmonics for $1.50 over spot.
I've only got 1 full tube of phils, they're probably my least favorite sovereign coin. They're just boring in my opinion, but hey, a deal is a deal! Get em cheap!
Just got my first 10oz , it’s a TD .next is a 10oz RCM ,then I can die happy
I'm mainly stacking Aztecs and Buffalos.
90% , ASE and 1-5oz bars r my current targets.
Scottsdale mint produces the best silver for a private mint!
What can i buy ,if i want silver rounds / eagles at lowest price .let me know
Eagles
Britannias
Maples
Kagaroos
Rounds
Collecting 1 each year of Kookaburras
All comes down to what your LCS may or may not want to buy, or can liquidate to his wholesaler if cash flow gets tight. Diversify and buy whatever has the lowest premium at the time. Premiums change, as we've all seen.
I like the 10oz, I have a couple 5oz's....I feel like the 5oz is almost 200 and for 100 more you get another 5ozs. I'm trying to buy a 1/2 ounce platinum eagle 1st, cause I want to at least have alittle bit of everything but afterwards I want to do the 10oz silver next. I'm stacking to leave it to my son after I'm gone so he has alittle something, etc.
Just picked up two 5 ounce bars for 150 each on this dip. I'm stacking for my son as well
