Dad never said “Don’t touch this these are special”… so when I found it, I thought I could go to the store and buy bubble gum (early 1960’s ). Fast forward 30+ years later I was collecting my own coins and found where a few Steel Pennie’s and rare Buffalo nickels were worth quite a pretty penny and have always wondered if I squandered away a small fortune… Always good to tell your children about collector items and also about greed!
A silver dime could buy a loaf of bread back then. I know because I did it. Based on the price of silver right now, you can sell an ordinary silver dime and buy a loaf of bread with the proceeds. Steel pennies were the common variety. If there was a real copper one from the same year, it would be worth a lot. So the silver dimes probably would outvalue everything else in the jar.

In 1974 when I was a freshman in high school a friend of mine checked out a book from the school's library. He found 5 perfect 1963 red seal $2 dollar bills.
It's a trip to find out that $2 bills have actually been around for decades I thought that was something that sprang up in recent years like sometime after 2000
Notes with the seal and serial numbers are United States Notes. All others are Federal Reserved Notes. To the best of my knowledge, the last time United States Notes were issued were in 1963 under order of then-President Kennedy. Both types of notes are legal tender, which means that they are not lawful money, but by law are treated the same as lawful money.
5:58 I once worked as an assets protection officer at Target #300 in Mission Viejo, CA. And a cashier was checking out a Mexican family, And she called me over because she was concerned about the bills they were using. She thought they were phony money. He had one of these two dollar bills 1953 with the red seal and, five 1935 one dollar bills, with blue seals. I pulled a $20 bill out of my pocket, and gave it to the gentleman, and walked away with the $1’s & $2 bills. Later the check out girl asked me why I did that. I said they were indeed real bills they’re just very old, and I collect old currency.
"1943 Copper Penny sold for $1.7 million dollars" in New Jersey the other one sold in "Texas for $1.4 million dollars"..1909-VDB-$285,000 Dollars..In 2018 in "Florida another 1943 Copper penny sold for $1-Million dollars"..The Bicentennial quarters depending on what you have some of them are selling for $95,000..I have ten envelopes filled with $2 Silver certificates in plastic..They are all old mint condition I haven't even looked at them in the last 40 years.. Heritage auction in Florida sold the 1914 D penny $158,625 dollars old Wheat Penny's that's what's selling now..1909-S-VDB Wheat Penny-$1Million dollars 1964 Kennedy half dollars I see them selling for $155,000 dollars..Old Wheat Penny's they are selling faster than gold coins..Old currency I don't even waste my time.. check out Heritage auction in Florida..The 2000 Sacagawea coin that came out of the Cheerios box-$55,000-1932 quarter just sold on eBay for $80,250 dollars..👉🏻💰💰💰💰Wheat Penny's selling for Big-Bucks..🎉
I came across three silver certificate one dollar bills from 1957, in fair condition. Getting old is hell, had to buy an heating pad for my back one day a 1961 half dollar fell out of it, Ben Franklin on the front & Liberty bell on back.
I have a two dollar bill that was given to me by the secretary of the treasury when I was a freshman in college in 1974. It has been folded several times but you know what I don’t care that means all your little criteria it’s still special to me. It’s even signed by the lady. She came to our university she was promoting I don’t know hot but we all were given a two dollar bill. I asked her if she would sign it and she said well I already have but I’ll sign it again and she did. So my two dollar bill has her signature twice one printed on the bill and one written on the bill. Any upset might not meet your criteria of being folded because it’s been folded up in my jewelry box for many years!
This video is about the potential value of the $2 bills if you have them and want to sell them. That is what the "criteria" being presented about the bills in the video is all about. If you have a $2 bill that you have an emotional attachment to and don't plan on selling no matter what the value is, then why did you bother to watch the video and make a comment that has nothing to do with it?
I took a 1$ silver certificate into the bank back in the early 1970's and received a small silver box with a bag of silver grains inside. still have it.
I have 17 of the ones with the red ink. Two of them are really different. Two of them have the red seal on the left side when they are facing you. They also have the word TWO in big letters on the right side with no red seal on top of the two. 0ne is a series 1928 D the other is a 1928 F.
I have two of those 1928s that you are describing. They were given to me by my grandpa. Unfortunately, they were folded and well circulated before I got them.
1973 flew into London on military leave . The lady in front of me got her lbs. changed to $s. She got a 1928 S $2. , I traded 2 $1.00 for it . Keep it behind some military pics in a photo album. Hitch hiked thro GB to Scotland for 15 days. Hooked up with a couple of German fellas , great trip ! Castle ruins, butifull scenery tent camping.
Obviously, PMG is more strict than PCGS. That MS 69 $2 Note would be 66 or 67 in PMG holder. Anything that's not centered is automatically MS 66 or lower. Thank you for the video
Your link has come up a few times for some reason. I finally watched it tonight. I have a $2.00 bill if I remember from 1953 that I grabbed/exchanged out of my till eons ago as a Cashier as I was intrigued to know if it was worth anything. I used to go to Antique shows before I was seriously injured and they became too difficult to ambulate.I would have taken it there but never got the chance. Im going to pull it out of its spot and get a photo to send to you. I f it looks like it may be worth something according to the information on the video, of course.😉
My oldest brother back in 1976 got a couple newly printed at that time because of the bicentennial year the first batch had a postage stamp attached to it and I think it also the ink stamp like they put on your mail when they receive it at from where it was mailed from as I recall
We went to the mint in DC late 90's on vaca. I bought two 2 dollar bills on the same sheet uncut bought 2 of these double bills and had them framed along with the description page of all the bill parameters this guy is talking about. 1 double 2 dollar sheet is shown the front side the other is shown the green backside. Had them framed as a keepsake for that vaca. I just got up to check if they had a star and nope lol...But its a pretty cool framed picture. In those days in the FBI exhibit in DC they had a .45 machine gun exhibit. You sat in bleachers behind bullet proof glass and an agent comes out and blasts a target with a .45 machine gun. Pretty cool. They have every pistol made on exhibit. They don't shoot the .45 anymore I hear.
Oh darn I folded mine to put it in the safe. They used to hand them out at one restaurant that we used to go to about 20 years ago and I always save them.😮
I have 5 of these from when they were printed in 1976 when I worked at a bank. They are uncirculated and we had the PO stamp them with the date for authenticity.
I also worked at a bank and found a $2 bill that was cut incorrectly. The paper obviously was folded when money was cut and instead of being an oblong bill it has this corner that unfolds into a long (about an inch) piece. Never found out if it was worth more than $2. I also collected all the silver I got over the teller counter and saved it until I has a few hundred dollars and sold it to a collector! Wish I has it now! I has pretty good collection of old money however.
I worked for the First National Bank or Citibank in the 1970's. I was able to get the very first $2 bills in which we were told to place a postage stamp over it and I believe it was stamped by teller to show the date. Do you know anything about this and would it be worth more?
I got two thousand in new ones back in 2019 from my local bank. Took them a few days to get them for me, but they’re all consecutive numbered and in bundle’s straight from the fed.
It took my bank two months to get some in so I could buy a stack. I was calling them for months before the new $100's were coming out. I wanted to get a 1st day of issue bill. Kept getting No Idea. Then while laid up with the flue, I turned on the news, and the new bill came out today. So I missed it. Wanted it next to my 5 1st day issue $2 bills.
I sent for your book but also you will be hearing from me. I have some 2 dollar bills a lot of pre 1970 nickles and some buffalo nickles same for dimes pre 70s and some silver ones. Also a few 1923 silver dollers and a lot of wheat pennies. My wife worked at walmart and would look for old coins. Thank you😊
My sister was working in a quickie mart when a young teenager came in and paid for his purchase with a bunch of old coins. Some turned out to be worth several thousand dollars.
Some people have coin collections. When they die, they are inherited. Most people have no clue about the worth of coins. Usually they go back into circulation by these people spending valuable coins. I got an 1835 nickle at a store one time. That coin was minted a year before the Alamo!
Cool my mom had one like you said it was taking away from someone because when i was a kid she torn it in half & she had it in our cran box it was a tin box we used for our crans and i still remember it to this day❤ those were the good days Not any more😢😢😢
I have a 2009 penny that I found in Circulation and it weighs 3.1 grams. Its not a proof coin. How do you tell if it is real? The 2009 penny has the cabin on back of it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
I literally have over 100 2 bills dating from the 20s up to 2004. I have been collecting them since I was a kid. The last time my mom went to Washington DC she bought me a quarter sheet of $2 bills uncut.
I have a $2 bill with four number 3’s on it, series 1976 and the letter C from the bank of Philadelphia. The serial number starts with C. It has a D2 in the top left and aD4 in the bottom right. Is this an average bill or should I take care of it? Thanks.
I was a teenager in the 70’s and had received a $20 bill in change, along with other bills. At a later date, I used that bill to pay for my purchase and suddenly I was accused of submitting counterfeit money and they were threatening to call the police. I offered to write a check but they refused and said I had committed a crime. I had noticed it was a $20 but didn’t pay much attention and since I didn’t have another to compare it with, didn’t notice it was different. Cooler heads and probably better aware prevailed, and I was allowed to go. Apparently, it was a $20 silver certificate, so the other alert employee at the store realized it and swapped it out and probably profited from it as it was crisp. After that, I paid more attention to my change other than the amount.
I have 10 1976 unfolded perfect condition 2 dollar bills that my mother kept for me I was given them in 1981 from my aunt. I also have 1979 Susanne b Anthony silver dollars which they don't make anymore. There actually 40%really silver instead of th3 silver coated we have today
The wife and I use to make and sell jewelry. At shows we'd give dollar coins and $2.00 bills as change. It always caused a stir and people would always say how rare the bills were. I still have about $200.00 worth stashed away somewhere. Banks will give all you want if you ask them
I have one, but I guess it's just worth 2 dollars. Normal bill, no star, no fw, high serial number, 1976, 3 creases from staying in my wallet. Oh well.
i tried to join but the bottom of the picture page doesn't show so i cant select join but I'm interested to know what you think of my $2 bills and if they're worth anything
I used to work at a bank in the 70s. When these were re introduced, i found a bill with a big green/black smear across the top of the bill. I bought it and have been saving it just in case it was worth some money. Any help finding out would be appreciated.
I hate to burst your bubble but, just because somebody’s asking $2000 for something on eBay, doesn’t mean it’s going to sell for that. You have to look at ended listings to see what something is actually selling for.
I have a bundle of an uncirculated sequential 1976 star note of 2.00 bills with C 00_ _ _ _ _ _ * serial number (sorry can’t reveal the rest of the #s) How much do you think is the value now.
I still have these $2bills with the red ink on them . I never really researched what they are worth. Probably won't I plan to frame and give to my grandkids which are six and seven years old. Their in mint condition I'll frame them just to prevent from anyone spending them.
I have 3 $2 Federal Reserve Notes. They are in series. They were purchased in 1979 at the Post Office in Ho olulu, Hawaii. They have a 13 cent stamp and hand cancelled by the Post Master. They do not have any creases and are sealed in a plastic sleeve. 1976 series... My question is... Because there is a hand stamped postage stamp do they have any value?
Trade limitations of 'cash' for precious metals began with FDR ending the gold standard on April 5, 1933. Thus beginning the gross devaluing of the United States Dollar. It is commonly perceived and wrongfully taught that Nixon ended the gold standard in 1971, when he did not; it was actually FDR (again, 1933). Nixon merely froze the availability of transfer for American currency to gold in response to massive inflation of American currency during his term as President. Fortunately today there is a process in place if you want to make such exchanges, but it would be nice if the American Dollar had actual value as the silver certificates from earlier... Sadly it does not. Your "money" is simply a debt note with no actual value backing it. Hence, your purchasing power continuously falling.
I have one that was first day of issue and went to the post office and they put an air plane stamp on it and postmarked. Late seventies I think. Buried in a trunk in my bedroom. Perfect condition.
I have a set of 1953 silver certificates in sequence that have never Ben circulated 60 2 dollar just wondering what they mite be worth I will send pics if you reply back
I actually was given some two dollar bills, and I still have them. Maybe I should go to the bank and get some more, and then keep them overtime and then try to sell them later on, although I don’t know if that would be a good idea.
My grandfather used to get a roll of 100 two dollar bills every payday from his bank. He would spend them everywhere. He would go to bars put a two dollar bill on the bar and ask for a drink, when patrons saw this they would offer to pay $5, $10 even $20 for his two dollar bill. He made a ton of money over the years with that trick. Mr. X
Back in the 70's, my husband and I had a used car lot. A guy found a book from his Dad that had gorgeous large note $50 bills in it. He used the money to buy a car from us. I thought they had to be worth something and contacted a local pawn shop. I took his word that they had no value and since $300 was a lot of money, my husband spent the bills. I still want to be sick when I think of it.
I have 2 two dollar bills 2017 both have the same #7 and then the serial # is the same except the last number. One of the is the number 1 and the other is number. I guess they were in the same batch. I don't know anything about this. So just was wondering if that is significant in any way. I also had a few of those silver certificates and the red one too! So bummed they were stolen from my house 😒
Always loved two dollar bills. I personally just counted out $846 (WOW!!!) I have in my "cool money box." Used to give them to my momma to put in her safe when I was a kid. Can't wait to see how much I had her hold onto when I was a kid!
I’ve always kept my $2 bills. I’ve got a few from 2013, some from 1995, and some from 1976 for some reason. (I was born in 1982). They are all badly folded and used. The ones from 1976 will have some random number written on it with pen. One of those even has a bright purple stamp that reads USPO July 4 1976. I guess the post office was having fun that centennial. I dunno.
@@jaymartell2967yeah, just not real sure why they did it though. Was it all post offices? Just some rando working that day? I mean, it looks like the stamp used to post mark mailing stamps after use. Does it give the bill any more value? Less?
During a recent cleaning, I found 5 consecutive 1976 (A) $2 bills, and 1 $2 (F) from 2013. I also have a $1 silver certificate from 1957, 1 $5 Federal Reserve note from 1934, and 2 $10 Federal Reserve notes from 1934. I also have 3 foreign notes dated before 1974: a 1 pound note, (along with coinage) a 10 Franc note and a 1000 Lira note. In coinage, I have a roll of Canadian pennies, a roll of "wheat" pennies, and 5 uncirculated Sacawega dollars. Can you suggest anyone who would be interested in purchasing this currency?

Is there anyway to find out if either of these two are worth anything more than face value. I looked for an email to send you pictures but I can't find it.
Where does one buy these bills? Coins? The only place I have ever gone to is Ebay, And some of the coins have been messed with..Like a machine taking the face off a coin, or Morgans ...How much does a morgan weigh? I should have looked that up first..It is taking a chance buying from ebay sellers, but then I have got a couple of good deals.. Some Deals I bought 20 years ago , are worth more now so hanging on to them can pay off..I buy these coins & bills for my Grandkids. The year they were born, proofs, all kinds..They didn't know it at the time, but when we would go to the bank we would ask if they had any funny money for the day, the tellers would know after a while what we meant..But those coins, are in they're little box...I wonder if they will remember when I give it to them.
50 of each bill adds up to $10K. I put one of each in the safe every week. when I get the 50, I go to the bank and have them run it through the counter and wrap them, then home and vacuum pack the stacks for the safe.
So um, you are saving 10k per year in paper and not gold or silver which will actually hold its purchasing power? Seriously, do not stack cash for long term savings, turn it into gold or silver, inflation is the value of '1' approaching zero. The only way silver and gold become worthless is mad max/zombie apocalypse with beans and bullets as currency.
Yes convert it into silver dollars; I heard it’s limited on market & no more can be mine (cost prohibited) this will go up up silver: but paper bills not so
@@PHILDRU911 I do, but you need the worthless paper for dealing with government. I'm not posting my bail or paying my property tax with something of value.

@@pat4005 that $2 bill is very special to this woman, why are you casting shade on this persons story?
I took a 1$ silver certificate into the bank back in the early 1970's and received a small silver box with a bag of silver grains inside. still have it.
That is SOOO COOOL!

I have a sealed 2 dollar bill dated 1976. First day issued. I got it from the Franklin mint. I need to find it 🧐
My oldest brother back in 1976 got a couple newly printed at that time because of the bicentennial year the first batch had a postage stamp attached to it and I think it also the ink stamp like they put on your mail when they receive it at from where it was mailed from as I recall
I have a 1928 C two dollar bill. Outside a couple creases from being folded it's in great condition. Unfortunately no star on the serial number.
When I go to Vietnam I take $2.00 bills as gifts. They are considered very lucky charms.
I was in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Interestingly, on ship, we got paid cash in $2.00 bills!
They don't shoot the .45 anymore I hear.
what brand of car is a vaca, or is it an air plane,,,never seen one

Saw that $2 bill on Pawn Stars today 12-24-2023. It wasn’t sold because the man figured he wasn’t offered enough.
I mean, if you want real value, you shouldn't really take your shit to a pawn shop in the first place.

Our grandparents gave us a 2.00 bill with a post office stamp on it too.. still have it
I've got a whole series of mint 1st run $2 star notes. And all I did is ask my local bank if I could buy a stack 😊
I did the same this but only $400 dollars worth....
Probably stolen.

Hey Friend,CAN you tell me if these $2 Bills Worth Someting...??
What about a gold
2 dollar bill..? Worth
Anything?
I have 10 1976 unfolded perfect condition 2 dollar bills that my mother kept for me I was given them in 1981 from my aunt. I also have 1979 Susanne b Anthony silver dollars which they don't make anymore. There actually 40%really silver instead of th3 silver coated we have today
Sorry to break this to you, but your 1979 Susan B Anthony coins were not minted in silver. Silver was last used in circulated coins in 1964.
My grandmother gave me a $5 1951 silver certificate back in the 60s. I still have it. I also have a few star notes. All different denominations.
I have some uncirculated 1976 2 dollar bills with stamp & seal on them, they worth anything?
The wife and I use to make and sell jewelry. At shows we'd give dollar coins and $2.00 bills as change. It always caused a stir and people would always say how rare the bills were. I still have about $200.00 worth stashed away somewhere. Banks will give all you want if you ask them
I have one, but I guess it's just worth 2 dollars. Normal bill, no star, no fw, high serial number, 1976, 3 creases from staying in my wallet. Oh well.
I own one two dollar bill from 7-11 from 10 years ago when they were very briefly back in circulation and still considered bad luck.
I have about 100 $2.00 bills from 1976, all have corresponding serial numbers. I guess they're worth something?
How much does $3 bill cost? I have 7 of them that was given to me as a present was three years old.
I have 2 100+ year old pennies. Could they be worth something?

I have a 1976 2 dollar bill. It has a fold in the middle and a high run number. Should I bother having it checked out?
I would think that off-center bills would be worth much more.
I was thinking 🤔 the same thing.
I used to work at a bank in the 70s. When these were re introduced, i found a bill with a big green/black smear across the top of the bill. I bought it and have been saving it just in case it was worth some money. Any help finding out would be appreciated.

Yea i had found a book at a garage sale for .25 cents and inside was a bunch of paper US money, turned out it was all worth around 800.00 bucks.

Maybe $3 or $4 a piece
I still have these $2bills with the red ink on them . I never really researched what they are worth. Probably won't I plan to frame and give to my grandkids which are six and seven years old. Their in mint condition I'll frame them just to prevent from anyone spending them.

Oh no I'll never cut them. I have them in their original cover in a protective frame.
Good afternoon, I've got a 1919 penny with a stamp. On its face indented, can I send a pic to see if it's worth anything or not?Thank you mark
There are plenty of 2 bills in VN. Just visit a local bank there and get them.
I did same thing.
Mr. X

I thought they had to be worth something and contacted a local pawn shop. I took his word that they had no value and since $300 was a lot of money, my husband spent the bills.
Better off buying silver or gold coins.
