Eradicated is a fancy way to say they’re being turned into steaks for China and Europe. I honestly don’t have a problem with horses bred and raised for meat purposes, but a whole grouping of unique horses that aren’t being selectively bred for continuation whilst being eradicated and sold for meat really does bother me. Brumbies just like mustangs can have amazing genetics that we shouldn’t be callously eliminating from the gene pool of equines
@PsychicIsaacs same as the wild mustangs in the US. It's horrible to see and they don't care. Often the ones that get away die within weeks after the way they were hunted.
Have I met a brumby? Yes! I have met two brumbies! I have met Daisy and her friend Cooma at Lisa’s house, and I don’t think that I have ever said ‘I love that horse’ about any horses EVER until meeting those two. There is something very different about Brumbies - they are just so sociable and engaging. If there was such a thing as ‘companion breeds’ in horses like there is with dogs, brumbies would be the companion breed! They are just joyful. I crouched down in front of both of them to tie a shoelace last time I was there - Daisy leaned over the fence and licked my bald head all over like a dog! I’m really not a horse person, I’ve always found the body language hard to read… but not with those two. I knew it was just affection. It was lovely. I was happy to savour that moment - a beautiful gesture of affection. Love those two. Just wonderful. Thank you Lisa ❤
Oh my gosh I loved this lady! First of all, I have always been interested in brumbys after reading the Silver Brumby books as a kid. I loved them so much. Secondly, this gorgeous little girl reminds me so much of the New Forest pony (ive had 4, and live on the edge of the forest) - was she similar to ride? The way she was described sounds so much like the forest bred new forest ponies. ALSO treeless and hoof boots?! Also me! Those barefoot saddles are amazing and I’d love to hear your take if that’s the first time you have tried one. I have been using them for about 15 years and have several barefoot saddles. I believe those boots were scoots? Just what a fantastic set up, and I love the sound of the challenge to train them. What a lovely idea to focus on training and groundwork to set these lovely ponies up for life.
I remember watching an animated show as a kid called Silver Brumby, I haven't thought about these horses in so many years! Thanks for making a video on them, they're so beautiful
I have 2 Kosciuszko brumbies and I 100% agree that they are the most versatile little horses and amazing to train. It's such a special privilege to have them connect with us after being born and bred wild. I'm still in awe whenever I ride /am around my 2 special brumbies . It is beyond sad what is happening to them in the Snowy Mountains of Vic and NSW where they have lived and adapted for over 200 years. I live in Sth Aust too 😊
Am also from S. A.... Unfortunately, have never seen the Brumbies ... Thanks to the great people who are saving... and enjoying... them! Lisa in Los Angeles. 🇦🇺🐨🖖
Beautiful video. My teenage daughter has a brumby also from VBA that went through the Australian Brumby Challange as well. Amazing horses, wish they could continue to exist in the wild.
This is beautiful. I was smitten with the brumby after reading a children’s book series based on them. Thanks for taking us to meet them! Have you ridden an Akhal Teke in this series?
I wish I could meet a Brumby one day! They are so beautiful! Thanks for this 😊 Hopefully you'll visit Finland one day and ride our national horse which is the Finnhorse 😊
And Cooma at the end hands down to Lisa for how well she has trained Cooma she hasn’t even had her for that long!! When we went to meet Cooma we were already able to hand feed her and Lisa had only had her for a few weeks!!
My older sister has a brumby named Gyspy and I have rode her at pony club! She is a grey tobiano with blue and brown eyes. She is REALLY cheeky!!! From Laura :D
@@ljelliston Right now she is super fat! We can't even fit a saddle on her!!! But I don't ride her anymore I ride my Arab gelding, Tanami. He has brown eyes and he also has a chestnut coat with white flecking. The good thing about is that you can't tell if he has any grey hairs from old age! :)
My daughters first horse at the age of 9 was part brumby and he was a phenomenal horse! Never missed a beat, great hooves, healthy and always looked after my daughter through everything! High recommend Brumbys as horses for riding ❤
great video thank you for the great content i am excited to hear you have nz episodes coming up i live in the south island and have recently got a yearling filly from kaitangata there is a mob of horses there that were once used in the mine there but no run in a forestry she has been so amazing to work with i am hooked on feral horses now! cannot wait to get more!
Our brumbies are special and we are fighting to save them. One thing though. They are not a breed, they are simply wild horses . Around Australia there are many different types of brumbies.
💖💔💖💔💖💔💖💔💖💔💖💔💖💔💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖🌹Its terrible knowing people are going out hunting and killing Brumbies... Then there are wonderful people saving as many as they can.
Nice! I wish perhaps you could tell us more about each breed : characteristics, riding dynamics etc. While you are able to experience each in your travels your audience will likely never ride or be involved with more than a handful.
This breed is so varied that it’s hard to call it a breed. They’re basically a regional breed horse, where every region has its own version of what a Brumby even means. Mustangs are way less varied than Brumby horses from what I’ve seen
Before you guys go and say, "great I hope we still have wild brumbies" they are actually a threat to the local wild life because they have no natural predators and they eat all the grass. I wish there were lots of people going out and training them and selling them or educating people about them because they are great horses but I wish there were more domesticated ones and less wild ones.
They are beautiful and strong, but there are to much in australia, +/- 400.000. so they are a problem for the environment. Also like the camels, rabbits, dingos ao. The government let shooting +/- 10.000/year from those wild horses. There many protest about that, but they are a real problem like for water, flora, plantations... And almost nobody want to have one. Yje government is to blame for all this. They had to act in time, but at the other hand, the real problem came with the mecanization. It's terrible they have to kill those wondefull horses, but i don't have a solution. Even in national park there are to much. In 2000 they shoot in 3 days 600, from the 1700. The brumbies in australia are called like the mustangs in usa. But i don't know if the mustangs are also a problem in the states. I think that if they should be more like taller sporthorses, the problem would'nt be so big. In every case they have to find a solution in australia. Alyssa, maybe you could also make a video about this aspect, witch is very important for this horses.🥰
Very sad to me that this horse can be ridden without a bit, but this owner chooses to still use one. Why? Surely the comfort of your horse is your first concern.

To think that these iconic brumbies are being eradicated is such a sad thing . Look at what they can be . Hats off to vba and Lisa for this ❤❤❤
Thank you Renee

It’s worse than that…
They’re being shot from helicopters and their carcasses are being left to rot in the bush.
@PsychicIsaacs same as the wild mustangs in the US. It's horrible to see and they don't care. Often the ones that get away die within weeks after the way they were hunted.
I got teary-eyed watching this, as I as a child probably read Thowra the silver stallion a million times as a child
She has such a lovely, refined head for a wild horse, and so chill!

@michaeltownsend429 What a well worded comment. Thanks for that endearing little story & best wishes from the NL!
Beautiful story, you can't go wrong with Kosciusko Brumby, the bond is incredible

Hi Anne, did you get your Brumbies direct from parks, or through one of the rescues/sanctuaries?
@@ljelliston the first from a clinic run in NSW and the second from a rescue in SA
I have never met a Brumby horse, Alyssa. It appears to be such a gentle-natured horse. Thank you for sharing. 🐎💓
What a stunning mare - so gentle beautiful and obviously so intelligent!
Beautiful video. My teenage daughter has a brumby also from VBA that went through the Australian Brumby Challange as well. Amazing horses, wish they could continue to exist in the wild.
Tall, sleek horses have their place, but in everyday life the little ones get it done! 🐴❤️🙏💞🐎
@Angela-vu9tt Been trying to give a similar argument my whole life to people, but the tall ones aren't hearing it! 🤣
Wow, what a beautiful location and what a sweet horse. Beautiful coloring!
I’ve met many brumbies (I’m Aussie) and they’re all wonderful

Yeah Great work Lisa!! Daisy is the absolute best horse I’ve ever met and rode!! She’s so much better behaved then Misty!! I love Daisy so much ❤❤

They are so beautiful and deserve to be preserved.
So glad ❤ you got to ride a Brumby!!
Loved watching this again. ❤
This was great! Thought Brumby’s were on average taller, guess it depends on the individual horse?
Hi Susan, the high country brumbies are generally smaller than the desert brumbies, Daisy was one of the smaller ones in the challenge that year.
Smaller but better ❤
The silver brumby movie and series is what introduced me to the brumby horse. They are basically Australian mustangs.
Yes, in usa they call them mustang and in australia brumby, according to google.
A spectacular video with excellent information 👏👏👏👏👏
I have never heard of the Brumby, what a sweetheart.
Nice video I can see a bit of Exmoor and Highland in there. Thanks
I had no idea there was some many different horse breeds it’s amazing.. Thank You sweetheart 😊

I work at a Brumby sanctuary they are amazing creatures I had the absolute honour of adopting one myself 🙂🐴
Amazing the Australia, I love🐺❤️
i'm on the journey to draw every horse breed!
Yes. My daughter had a brumby who was determined to throw her rider. After throwing my daughter, it turned back to try and strike her.
If this mare is typical of Brumbys, they are very different from American mustangs. I wonder what lineage is?
When it comes to treeless Saddles, Barefoot is a pretty nice brand
Nice vlogs 💞
