- What do you call a carpenter who doesn’t have a hammer? Unemployed!
Speaking of the proper tools, in this week’s episode, husband and wife PI’s Mark and Wendy Murnan answer the question, “What tools do real private investigators use in their profession?” Is it the latest tech tool or spy gadget? Or perhaps a “gat” or a “shiv”? Nope, the immensely practical tools of the PI trade are mundane, but far more profitable than the latest gadget. Tune in and grab your pour-over as the Investigators in Cars share with you the “Top 5 Tools of a Private Investigator”!

One of my favorite tools as a PI is a "Dog Leash". If I need to go up close to a house and get a vehicle tag or something. I like to have the leash in my hand. If I am approached by the home owner, I tell them I'm looking for my lost dog. It works every time.
That’s a great idea! We’ll have to add a leash to the “toolbox”! Thanks for contributing.
Can you make a video on just the "research investigator" tools to investigate a targets entire digital footprint? For example remarks they have made they may reveal their biases
That’s a great suggestion, thanks!
West Palm Beach is so nice area to live 🤩
thanks for sharing your business advices 👍
Thanks for sharing the top tools of a private investigator. It's interesting to see how practical tools can be more valuable than the latest tech. What tool do you find most essential in your daily work?
A good internet connection! Then our relationships with sources of information at the courts, law enforcement agencies, etc. What about yours?

Wait no Whiskey and Lace? Alice Cooper you liar!
Awesome. Thanks!
The problem with gun fights is that you have to win every one of them. That includes the ambushes and the ones where the plucky PI is out numbered by people who have probably engaged in more gunfights than the PI.
I think everyone has probably engaged in more gunfights than I have!
The proprietary databases is interesting, I obtained a PI license at the beginning of the year and don't have any connections to the industry so my tools are lacking. So I've been using the public databases, this was very helpful. Thanks yo.
What osint public ones did you find useful
My husband and I watch your videos all the time and we love them! We just started our own PI agency in Houston and would love for you guys to be our mentors
Thank you for watching our videos! We'd love to chat with you both. Perhaps we can arrange a Zoom call? Why don't you send an email and let's set something set up. Thanks again, make it a great week!
Thank you folks! Great advice
This was great! You two look like you have a lot of fun doing this.
Thanks for watching, and yes we do!
Hi guys I’m 50 and is it to late to start? And wich niche would be best at this age
Thank you for your time and effort
Hello, and thanks for watching! It's never too late to start something. Look at it this way; ten years from now, you'll still be 10 years older, whether you did something or not, so what do you have to lose? Depending on where you reside, the regulations vary widely on what is needed for licensure. My suggestion would be to contact every PI firm in your area and ask whether they are hiring or offering internships. Do some research on the local investigators and find an agency that provides a service you're curious about. Also, contact the state PI association and get some information from them about local associations and meetings where you might be able to do some networking.
And keep us posted on your progress! Best of luck to you in your search.
@@InvestigatorsInCars I’m located in uk and no regulations for that
Anyone can do it ..
I was thinking to start my own business
And get more experience by time ..
@@dnbvideo55 Good for you! Do as much study as you can before soliciting for business. We have lots of videos describing different aspects of the profession. There are excellent books on the subject as well, so read as much as you can. Ask solicitors for advice and business. Best way I know to start from “scratch” is to connect with attorneys/solicitors. It only takes a few to keep yourself in business.
@@InvestigatorsInCars thank you

Do you have a video on what data bases you use for your research?
I don’t think so. We use TLO, Tracers and AutoDataDirect for most of our searches.
Nice video. Prospective PI here. Love to get a coaster if you still have some.

Thank you, and yes, apps make all the difference!
@@InvestigatorsInCars Let me ask you this do you still have a separate analog voice recorder or do you use an app on the phone I think this video might have been before voice notes on iPhones in touch
@@floweuphoria69420 I still use a dedicated digital recorder since I do a lot of telephone interviews from my office. I’m sure the iPhone is probably capable but I prefer the office phone set up. Just my preference.
Like that shirt dude! markus you sport a beard with style dude!!
Cheers for the Video! Excuse me for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Haaneely Undetected Approach (Have a quick look on google can't remember the place now)? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering the dirty secrets and mind control games of a spy without the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work colleague got amazing success with it.
I want a couple coasters!

Is the training hard or not
Paradox seeker Not particularly, but finding a sponsor or other entry into the business can be. Thanks for watching our video!
What apps do you use?
Hi, Josh. The app I use most is a mapping app to find addresses. If I need to access a database on the road, I'll access my browser thru a Surface Pro. I keep the phone apps to a minimum, usually for news and podcasts.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your question as well.
@@InvestigatorsInCars thanks for the reply! I just started my own PI firm, so your videos have been very helpful to me.
@@NerdDad765 Congratulations! Please hit me up on Twitter and DM me your contact info. We'll send some coasters to you and I'll add you to my contact list. Best wishes, Josh! I look forward to connecting with you.
