I have the DIY kit of this wallet - it wasn't easy to make, but is so much more satisfying to carry when you made it yourself! It is so gorgeous, I ordered 2 more to keep me busy! Popov leather have THE BEST customer service.

I just got in this 5 card wallet in Heritage brown with red tiger stitching. Very impresive wallet for the price. Popov customer service is top notch. Great communication all the way to delivery. Very happy with my purchase.
I bought one of these (as a DIY kit, which is great by the way), and noticed something that you did that I had to learn. When I put my cash in, it works much better to put cash in the pocket that DOESN'T have the exterior card slot. It makes inserting and removing the cash that much easier.
@@kayseeday it really wasn't hard for me. I find that I use cash fairly infrequently, so just having it on hand for a few times I need it was fine. It's still easy to access, secure, and right where I need it. That said, if you're going to use cash on a daily basis, or carry lots of it, then you may need a taurine bill pocket.
Popov Leather always do an excellent job. I know others have mentioned this but the leather used for that particular piece is actually natural Chromexcel-a combination tanned leather from Horween. It’s one of my favorite leathers with a great smell!
There's been a few comments on this. The leather used from the description is Derby which is part of their Essex line, different from Chromexcel. BUT, yes, the Naural and Black colors are from their Chromexcel leather line. But honestly, any version of leather from Horween is intoxicating!
Hello, first off I love your channel. I'm a hobbyist leather crafter with hopes of making it a small part time business. I love seeing these reviews especially from the ones from individual crafters. The fact that the interior second layer pocket isn't stitched on the bottom bothers me. I know if they did then you would see the stitch line on the exterior and it would look out of place but still really bothers me . Love the videos and can't wait till the next one
I’ve had a Popov card wallet for years and love it. Still has that great Horween chromexel smell. Not embarrassed to take an occasional sniff...in fact, it’s a requirement.

Since subbing to your channel I've grown a new appreciation in quality wallets. I've used three different wallets so far this year, the Ridge, the Stow and currently I got a Popov traditional english tan navy thread bi-fold I keep six cards few bills cash so really isn't too thick. It's the best leather wallet I've ever owned I find my self taking it out of my pocket just to feel and smell it lol
I have 2 of Ryan's wallets...I love the feel and smell as well 😁. My only issue is the thickness once carrying my daily cards. Doesn't disappear in my front pocket they way I would like. Gorgeous wallets though. 👍
In the 5-card offering they only have 4 colors, driftwood isn't one of them from what I can see so are you referring to the Natural color? The color, which my packing list indicates it's English Tan, is Horween's Derby leather, which is part of their Essex line, not Chromexcel, but I do see the Natural color is from Chromexcel.
@@walletopia they used to have driftwood name for the natural chromexcel, I’m pretty sure that the color you have is natural chromexcel, but I may be wrong , both English tan and chromexcel are excellent choices.
I have bought 3 or 4 of these and gifted them to family. While it is a pretty common design, it is great to support makers like them. I'm curious of your opinion on the soft hand of this leather? It's a bit too soft for me. Great review!
You nailed it. It is a common design, so what makes it special? Part of it is supporting makers like Ryan and his crew. A lot of effort to keep their shop at high quality. Regarding the leather, personally I don't mind the softness of it. I also don't mind the scuff marks, scratches, etc. that happens when leather is softer without a high-gloss finish. Even at a high weight, this wallet is very flexible (soft), but once I get cards in it, it straightens out and I'd like to believe the patina develops faster (although I have no evidence it does) 😀

@@walletopia I can confirm this. He may have sent you a Driftwood 5 Card driftwood chromexcel wallet and label it as English Tan. I know because I have both the 5 Card in driftwood and the card pocket in English Tan and you could easily tell the difference.
I know all about that leather smell. I bought a wallet from a leather manufacturer in my neighbourhood two months ago. It smells like leather to this day :D

Now, I know I'm color blind to light and dark shades of reds and greens, but at least I have their color option selector to guide me 😂. I went back and checked my purchase and it says English Tan. They do have a Heritage Brown option, but it's much darker than the one I have. But I'm not picky either, anything in Horween I'll take.
Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if they've thought about a sixth pocket, oriented the opposite way so that the chip on your card is exposed. The stitching might get complicated though..

The wallet looks great, but I think that inner pocket is far from a 'great design'. Usually that piece would be skived and stitched so it limits the bottom card to go too deep in the wallet.
Absolutely! We’ve had MagBak around for a couple years and I own that product. With Apple expanding into that market with MagSafe, we should see some interesting things.

Yes, the weight on the leather will create some bulk, but the quality helps make up for that!

I think they left that t-slot unstitched so that cash folded once could be tucked away into that pocket.
Do you prefer a vertical or horizontal quick access slot?
