Perfect timing. I got the new part in a few weeks ago! I have made this upgrade before, and its not hard to do. But I truly appreciate the Brownells, "after school special" educational films! Thanks Caleb!
I've already enjoyed years of customizing my AR platforms to my needs, and am just about ready to dive into the wonderful 10/22! Excellent video and very well done tutorial/explanation! Thank you!
Thanks! That was very helpful. Your calming voice was helpful! "Don't panic if the pins fall out." Now I can't wait to go out shooting to see the difference.
If the only difference is that hump, couldn't you just grind the hump off on the stock catch? Seems like that'd be pretty simple. I wonder what Ruger is thinking by having the bolt catch work that way in the first place.
brownells trying to make a sale but he did point it out to make it obviously easy to diy. I recall old man Ruger was funny about a lot of things so no telling what he was thinking back then.
My thought, only for an experienced shooter. (My) kids might try to go too fast and not excercise proper (index) finger control. I can see (my) kids "slingshot" and followed with 1 or 2 unintended rounds. Thanks. Good instructions.
Yet another mod that should be a manufacturer standard. C'mon Ruger, step up your game. It's like buying a Glock, it'll work just fine, but to get it to where all others come in their stock configuration and arguably better, you gotta start adding aftermarket components.
@ 6.00, you show the difference between the factory Bolt release, and what the Volquartsen release is like. Why doesn’t everyone just grind that difference in the “Projection” off? Save yourself some money since you are already there taking it apart? All it takes is a Dremel tool, or something like it…………..
@@DanielReyes-hz1qk it's really minimal modification. There's a little hump that gets filed down. It's not like a major modification by any means and the factory part can be bought for cheaper than the volquartsen if you wanted to just keep a spare in stock configuration
The reason to buy the volquartsen part, is so that you can put the gun back into its factory configuration. My first 10/22, modified the factory part using a dremel, works like a charm. Second one, I bought the vq part. I don't know why I would ever want to put it back into its original configuration, especially with regard to this particular modification.....it is probably due to the guilt I was feeling over using a dremel to modify a part on a gun. lol

Thanks for the video. It made replacing the bolt lock easy to do.

Great video. Very helpful! Thank You.
I put one in my 10/22 a while ago but I think I missed some steps after watching this.

Yup, 5 minutes and done. It's silly to buy a part for this when its so unbelievably easy to do yourself

Thanks 😮
My 10/22 only locks open on empty magazine. Oldy but a goodie

I did this mod myself to the factory piece. I have noticed if you bump it it will release the bolt. Does this one still do it?

I'll never understand people buying these when all you need to do is modify the factory release which takes like 5 minutes with a file
I don't like modifying factory parts permanently, I'd rather buy an aftermarket part designed for the job. Will I modify an aftermarket part? Sure

I bought one a long time ago and realized how easy it was to modify the original part. All of my 10/22’s have been filed since then.
I was gonna say the same!

So are we just gonna ignore the AT4 in the safe? 🤣🤣
