Imho HSBC revolution is the best value for money. 1. Low income requirement to sign up 2. Versatile in terms of rewards (you can convert points into miles or cashback) 3. High rewards for online shopping, entertainment related expenses & food 4. If you are a movie lover, you can also buy HSBC movie cards for GV which is a high discount from the usual movie ticket prices. 5. Lastly, don't think you will be charge with any annual fees (always got mine waived automatically)
I have to add that you have to pay $25 to convert uni$ to miles for this UOB preferred platinum card, this should be taken into consideration. Certain cards like Amex platinum doesn’t charge a miles conversion fee.
Considering the 4mpd which Amex platinum doesn't offer, i would say 25sgd is fair cost (of course convert only when you chunk up enough miles for your travel needs)
@@jacky5297 Amex platinum does offer almost 4mpd for certain spending. But I guess this UOB preferred platinum card provides 4 mpd for almost all spending. I think users should just be aware that there is a $25 charge for converting miles so you should accumulate enough points before conversion.
Kelvin is damn smart.. haha always using the interviews to get answers to questions he personally has, eg striking work life balance, avoid getting corrupted by money, what’s the meaning of life etc 😆 But half kidding, those are great qns to ponder. And good on Kelvin for making the interviews a win-win
I feel if you always travels, then milescards with 4 mile/ dollar will be better. if not the cards which Miles don't expire will be better. Any thoughts kelvin? I'm holding the citi premiere and dbs altitude.
cc typically offers miles expiry of 2 years, and krisflyer adds another 3 years. If 5 years are not sufficient then maybe mile game is not really suitable to your needs.
But there are also debit cards with miles for those with impulse control issues. I would like to hear what the interviewee has to say about those cards.
I don't understand his logic. Why not just get a cashback card, and use the cashback to buy a business class ticket??!!!! Getting a credit card must ALWAYS BE VALUE. NOTHING ELSE. No experience bullshit. You are essentially spending money you could have gotten from a cashback card to buy the ticket. It's opportunity cost.
Simple reason, it will probably take you a decade to be able to get 7000sgd from cash back, while it is very possible to do so with mile card in 2 years time with average spending...
@@jacky5297 No. he already said you can only take business class to probably Japan + top up in 2 years, not to Europe. That's quite doable with a cashback card with average spending.
@@CatandCook1989 Let's do some maths here shall we? assuming you spend 1k sgd a month, 4mpd means 4k miles per month. It will cost you 140k miles to redeem a return business class ticket to Japan (this is not the most efficient redemption but let's do it for simplicity sake). You spent 35k SGD (35 months x 1 k) to get this 140k miles. A brief check shows that a business class return ticket to Japan costs approx 3.5k SGD give or take. How much do you have to spend to get 3.5k SGD cashback? Assumming you get 1.5% cashback in average, you will have to spend 233,000 SGD, which takes 233 months assuming the same 1 k sgd per month spending. @@jacky5297 sorry but my cashback card offers me 5% to 8%. Every month I have 50 to 80 dollars based on a monthly spending of 1k to 1.2k. So why not? Assuming 3 years as stated in the video, you will have to earn at least 9-10% cashback to get close to that amount? what card has that?

Interesting points and miles perspective outside the US. Do the cards you apply for have big sign up bonus with required spend?
Yes!

Up to UNI$10 per S$5 spend via mobile contactless
Up to UNI$10 per S$5 spend on online shopping and entertainment
Each UNI$ is the equivalent of 2 miles, which means S$5 spend will get u 10 x 2 = 20 miles, therefore 4mpd. Do take note of the S$5 earning blocks.
