    I don’t think people disregard KDB’s ability, I think people just don’t rate city because they’re not a “legacy club”. They’re too good and people don’t like them so whatever Kevin does isn’t as rated by association. If he played for a traditional top 4 club like Chelsea (I miss him every day) ,Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal people would already give him prem goat status

    For me there are a few reasons that all add up keeping KDB off the radar.
    - De Bruyne’s personality is quite introverted.
    - Man City’s team is so good, you don’t feel like he’s carrying them on his own.
    - There’s an element that when City do well, you think “well of course they’re successful, they’ve been artificially improved as a club”
    - His ability is also subtle and understated. Some long shots, unbelievably intelligent passing. But no highlights like overhead kicks etc that will be played over and over again.
    - I also think he’s not playing in an era where there is much competition for him. He’s so clearly ahead of other midfielders, it’s not even worthy of discussion, so that’s another reason people spend less time discussing and arguing over his ability.
    Ultimately, he’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen and I think if you ask people they will agree, he just doesn’t get talked about a lot

    • @alone2break
      @alone2break 9 месяцев назад

      You're right about midfield competition.. Even players like odegaard isnt as effective as him. Maddison, rice doesnt have kdb full skillset. Foden and saka are dribblers, szoboslai is the one that may grow close to kdb levels but he's still way behind in chances creation.

    • @avalanche_mmy9408
      @avalanche_mmy9408 2 месяца назад

      Regarding competition, yes there is not a lot of comp for him...but you can always compare the stats
      Let me compare an amf to amf...to keep out the stuffs like...gerrard was a box to box etc....lets compare him to lampard..highly rated prem amf, some say the best goal scoring cam......kdb has same g/a as lampard in TWICE as less matches...you can see transfermarket if you dont believe
      Regarding city being a great team that he is not the clear cut driving force....its in the recent yrs that city has become good as a team....before 2023, especially before haaland...he literally carried them.....20 assists in a prem season with sterling and jesus is no joke...and 2nd all time in prem in terms of assists
      And dont get why people say gerrard had a mid team, kdb has an all stars team.... gerrard had players like torres, alonso, owens, suarez at club level.......and dont even talk about what he had at national level: owens, rooney, ferdi, lamp, scholes, cole, terry, beckham
      There are only two reasons for that imo...nostalgia and him playing for city

    A big reason as to why Kevin De Bruyne sometimes doesn’t get the respect that he deserves despite being one of the best players in the world and an all time great midfielder is he plays on Manchester City.
    From a footballing perspective, they keep growing and they’re an elite team, their fanbase is good but it’s still rising and they don’t have that same sort of fan support as clubs like Liverpool Real Madrid Barcelona Arsenal Bayern Munich or Manchester United. Just imagine if he played on a club that had a more passionate fanbase, the guy doesn’t need PR to play well on the field as he lets his performances do the talking and that should boost his status in football.

    Similar to Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne went from premier league reject to the best player in the league and you can argue that he’s the greatest midfielder to ever play in the premier league. With all due respect to Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard they’re amazing players, but what Kevin De Bruyne has done for Manchester City in the last 6-7 years not only has he been pivotal to their dominance, he’s been their best player the talisman, a guy who has stepped up for them time and time again in decisive moments whenever it’s in the premier league or champions league yet people take his greatness for granted and it’s baffling.
    He had to come from adversity because when he was signed from Manchester City in 2015, the only thing people talked about was the fact that he was a “premier league” reject ignoring his excellent stint for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, where he was unstoppable won the DFB Pokal and had 20+ assists in the league. At Manchester City the rest is history for him, whether it’s individual awards team trophies big game performances how consistent he’s been goals+assists the eye test etc, he has been one of the best players in the world in recent years and has dominated the premier league year after year. As a midfielder he has it all, the vision passing technique crossing chances created goals incredible long shots that’s what made him so good and from watching him it was obvious that he was the real deal. He’s a player who can pick out a pass out of nothing and that instinct to know where your teammates are and to know what you’ll do when you have the ball you would think that he would play a short pass, but then produces a laser pass and gets an assist. Under Pep Guardiola, he redefined his game, in an era of football in which people think that playmakers don't exist, this guy has shown that we still have number 10s in the game today, you just have to be a more well rounded player in modern football as that's what made him a complete midfielder. Not a lot of midfielders can do what he does and he has done it time and time again. He has put up impressive individual stats in the league, he’s won 2 PFA Player of the Season awards and surprisingly he’s never won premier league player of the month, throughout a season he is very consistent and his performances never drop off. I know he’s a little injury prone and his availability that hurts him when we have this conversation on who’s the greatest premier league midfielder ever, when fit he showed no signs of slowing down and he kept getting the goals and assists at a consistent level. Manchester City are such an elite team that even when KDB has some periods where he’s out injured, it doesn’t stop them from winning trophies they won a premier league title without him, when he’s on the field, they’re much more unstoppable and anyone who’s watched this team in the past couple of years know that Kevin De Bruyne is Manchester City’s best player and still is even though Haaland is scoring a lot of goals.

When you comparing Gerrard best stats Gerrard had plenty double digit goals per season and many of them came in clutch time. He scored in all finals fa, league cup, ucl and Eula cup. There’s a reason why this team won 5 premier league titles in 6 years and he was vital in their treble win last season despite being overshadowed by Erling Haaland. When people watch him in the next couple of years in his peak, they would wonder why he never won a Ballon Dor in his career and many people will also ask this question on how Belgium with Kevin De Bruyne couldn’t win an international trophy despite having the premier league’s best player and a star studded team. That can also hurt him his lack of international success that shouldn’t take away from what he achieved at club level even if he came up short with the Belgium national team on a couple of occasions and that led to people saying that he bottles it in big games. Against Real Madrid Barcelona Liverpool Chelsea Atletico Madrid PSG Bayern Munich Manchester United Tottenham Arsenal etc, we’ve seen moments where he has destroyed some of the best teams in the world and he is also one of the best big games players in the world as he always shows up when the lights are the brightest in the premier league and champions league and some people think that he does nothing in big games.
    After being out of action for 5 months, what he did to Newcastle United especially when his team was down 2-1, off the bench after 20 minutes got a goal and an assist to win the game for Manchester City and keep them in the title race and without being at their best, his return from injury gives them a boost in the title race and they might actually go on to defend the 3 trophies that they won and KDB is game changing a difference maker. Kevin De Bruyne is elite and Manchester City are too good and you can even make an argument that in the last couple of years, they’ve turned the premier league into a farmers league because with him back fully fit no one is stopping them from going on their traditional winning streak and Man City wins the premier league again this season that’s 6 league titles in 7 years and a 4peat of premier league titles and last time I checked, we see this from Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga every season and I know Liverpool have pushed them all the way to some thrilling title races that have been decided on the final game of the season, the reality is that Manchester City are dominating the “most competitive league in the world” and it has become a farmers league and have made football a little boring because they’re too good and everyone is tired of winning the premier league every year. With him 32 baring any injury, I see him playing at an elite level for 4-5 more years and since he has a prolific goalscorer in Erling Haaland who just cannot stop scoring, Kevin De Bruyne’s assist numbers will inflate even further and let’s see what more he has to offer for us because what he produces is jaw dropping.

    The thing about KDB is efficiency. I'm Belgian. Literally watched him from his earliest times as a professional player and knew him to become one of the greats after he started playing for the national team.
    What people didn't understand at the time is the danger he creates with his passing. He looks deep and has the technical ability to put the ball on a dime. The biggest difference between KDB now and KDB then is the quality of his teammates. Mourinho was mad to let him go.
    I still remember in the runup to Brazil he was playing for the national team and tearing it up. I told my brother then, he was better than Hazard. Hazard being the main man at Chelsea and KDB unceremoniously shown the door at the same club. But purely on the basis of key passes there was no contest.
    It doesn't really matter if you put in 4 stray passes in a game, when you also deliver 3 key passes. KDB has always had that ability.

    30 year old 4th generation city fan and i couldn't care less. People who watch him every week know that NO ONE else has ever had KDB ability in the premier league, he has the vision to make passes that people don't even think are possible. He has a full highlight reel of assists that no one else could replicate or even imagine to do. He turns up in big games with big goals or assists, he's had the odd bad game but who doesn't??? We've had Silva/Toure in the past and now KDB, Foden will be next. Always looking at the future, leave the nostalgia debates up to Liverpool/Chelsea and Utd fans cause that's the only debate they want to discuss these days. The only people who like to discuss comparisons are the ones that ain't got the football to talk about. His impact on citys success for a 10 year period is clear of Gerrard/Viera/Lampard and if he continues with 4 premier league titles which no one has done. How will this team not be considered the best ever? With the best players ever?
    Rodri best CDM/Haaland best striker/KDB best midfielder/Walker best RB. These players should go down as the best ever in their positions. They said no they weren't (no champions league, no treble) what they going to use next? We have nearly all the records - when did you have to have a minimum of 90points to win the prem before city set the standard year after year?? never.
    This city team has dominated english football for a decade. Liverpool haven't since the 80s and utd only did it in the 90s. Arsenal have never done it or unless it was before ww2. Chelsea have never dominated football for a period that long. We beat Liverpool to a prem title twice with over 97 points???????????? without losing a game after christmas. it's beyond boring how this team doesn't get the actual praise of how ridiculously good guardiolas city team has been.

    Great video as always, my man. I've been in love with KDB ever since his Bundesliga days. Never in my wildest imagination I thought he'd come to grace us with his presence here in Manchester 💙 🤍
    You spoke about him being such a clutch player. It would've been fitting to cover his Wolfsburg days to give that bit some context. That 2014/15 season he had in Germany was monstrous - especially THAT goal vs Lille, those performances vs Pep's Bayern, being the Bundesliga POTY, carrying Wolfsburg to a trophy and a 2nd place in the league, and most importantly - serving Lord Bendtner 😂

    KDB is probably the best midfielder I've ever seen. I think his accomplishments are only diminished by his circumstances. anyone else on his level was never in a club like City with that kind of squad and spending power. Funny thing is that with all of City's depth they are so obviously worse without him. Look at how their form dipped when he was injured. The man truly deserves his flowers, because he has the rare trait of being able to produce his best game every game

    Since 2018 Mohamed Salah and/or Kevin De Bruyne have been the best player in the Premier League. Not to mention that not too long ago, they were seen as “premier league rejects” after their failed stints at Chelsea and have dominated the Premier League and have gone from strength to strength with Liverpool and Manchester City respectively contributing to their domestic and European success winning every available trophy in the Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola era while being the best players on their respective teams. Both players are all about preference de Bruyne is a playmaker who gets loads of assists, Salah is a winger who plays very wide yet scores loads of goals but who would you prefer Mohamed Salah or Kevin De Bruyne.

      That's a very tough question to answer. They play different positions and for other teams. Salah is the man for Liverpool and KDB for Manchester City. Side note. When KDB played for Chelsea as a youngster, Mourihno had a very experienced midfield. KDB wanted to play and he asked for a transfer. So as a coach/club you do not have an option. They knew KDB was good and talented.

Then after another half year of not getting his chance at Chelsea he forced a move to Wolfsburg. There he became player of the year in Germany. Grabbed 2 trophies and ended 2nd after Pep's Bayern. (Also single handedly destroyed Bayern Munich that year). Before Chelsea he played at Racing Genk. (Thats where i first got to know him as a Belgian) As a young teen he quickly became one of the supporting pillars of a top Belgian Team with already dishing out double digit numbers...He's always been good wherever he played. i think theres a few reasons he isnt in the traditional gerrard lampard scholes debate. one is that his role is far more attacking than the 3 the least being gerrard. then the fact he plays for the best team in the league by far similar to scholes. Also city fans are far fewer in number to the other 3's teams and his agenda is pushed less but even when pushed its taken as a joke cus their city fans. i honestly think hes in the debate but i am a lfc fan and my bias for gerrard makes me pick gerrard>lamps>=kdb>scholes. hes more of a mix considering he has a great team and a attacking role to get the award. if scholes was in a team like lfc at the time gerrard was nobody would remember him. on the otherhand if gerrard were at city/utd/currnt lfc he would be undisputed best cm in epl.

Second Man City fans get called a lot of things like fresh fans, glory hunters... not accepting the fact that Man YTD, Chelsea supporters actually started supporting them at their peak, trust me when time passes and these teams grow people are gonna start appreciating them and if you say why did salah get that good appreciation it is simply because Liverpool had the recognition before Salah even came.
