I was a teenager in NY learning how to play the organ in church in the early to mid 1980s and I remember rushing home from Sunday Night Service at my church to tune in to FCD in Chicago on AM radio. I would pray I could get a clear signal so I could get my weekly dose of this awesome organist and choir on this broadcast. Never knew I would actually view the hands of the Master organist and choir together many years later. Thank you
For all of you who have sent messages regarding the great memories of listening to the broadcast during the seventies and eighties and nineties I must give recognition to Fred Nelson Jr., Fred Nelson III, Elder Eric Thomas, Monte Phelon, Al McKenzie, Aaron Cockerham, Steve Stewart and other noteworthy organists who have served this great church down through the years.

Wow! It's good to know that this has been a help to each of you who have viewed and made your thoughtful comments. I'll post more in the future. Again, thanks for your comments. You can tune us in (Bishop Otto T. Houston, III and the First Church of Deliverance - Chicago, IL every Sunday night on the web at soul1063radio which is WRSB in Chicago at 11:00 p.m. CST. My organ playing has been shaped by the hands of Pastor James R. Bryson, Pastor Eric Thomas, Bro. Fred Nelson Jr & III (Big Fred and Lil Fred), Bro. Al McKenzie, Bro. Bobby Wooten all of Chicago. I'm so grateful for meeting Pastor Bryson who really showed me how to play the standards: The Lord is in His Holy Temple, The Lord's Prayer, Decalogue/ How I Got Over and many of my favourite gospels & anthems.
Thank you Paulette Lockett-Harris and Bro. Willie Davis for the compliment!!!! Brandon Lewis...this is a Hammond Elegante. Truly a wonderful instrument for the First Church of Deliverance. To all who are blessed.....we will post more. Once again thanks everybody. Rev. Bryson
After all these years I finally get to see this organ up close lol. I cant play anywhere as good as this, but I have a slight First church sound when i play and now that Im watching the playing up close, this gives me an idea of whats missing lol. Please please post more
The little Baptist church I go to has this same organ! I can only imagine how much nicer it would sound if it had two Leslie speakers connected to it,.. let alone four!
James Mitchell... This is not the same organ that was used in the seventies and eighties. That was a Concorde this is an Elegante. They are very similar but there is a slightly different percussive element that can be heard through the 5 Leslie's that are strategically located throughout the sanctuary. Would love to see you visit First Church of Deliverance. Everyone is always welcome!
Thanks so much for posting this video. I always wanted to see the Organ at this Church. Such a heavenly sound. This isn't the original organ that was used in the broadcast when Bishop Cobbs was living and the church first started the broadcast was it? I'm hope to pay a visit one day in person. I use to listen to Bishop every Sunday night back in the early 70's. I was a joy to hear them on the air. God bless.
The broadcast sounds nothing like years before. Choir is messing up, soloist don't know when to come in on a song, sopranos sound a mess. What happened ???????
Dear Rev. Bryson! Are you still playing the hammondorgan in FCD Chicago? I would very much like to get in touch with my old friends there, it´s been a long time. I often think about FCD and all the wonderful and talented people I met when I was in the choir, including you, your musical gift and your welcoming personality. Lots of blessings - "Sophie"
Isaiah Embert probably a foot switch on the side of the volume peddle. They newer Hammond models have a lil tab to hit with the side of the foot to switch off n on n slow
Although I like and admire this type of music, but his hands and fingers are not even moving with the change of chords in the music....🤔🤔 or either it’s one of those scenarios where the video is a beat or two behind the actual music playing
Great Organist!!! However, I don’t care for the Elegante model of Hammond Organ. I rather have a Vintage Hammond Organ, such as the B-3, C-3, or RT-3 models!!!
