We aimed super high when thinking about making this show. So really glad its resonating with you. This is my field of expertise so was really fun to see it all come together. 5 camera shootout 'PEOW PEOW'
I had never heard of the brand myself and after being in the room and filming the guys talking about it, I really want to get my hands on one. Great job!
The cartier tank is also the watch for me that I cannot justify. I'm just more of a sporty person and I live in a tropical country so water resistance is essential. BUT when I see it on people's wrist, I just have such a soft spot
I was feeling both sensitive and vicious when Adrian declared Omega fans both sensitive and vicious, but this show is so enjoyable that I cant hold a grudge.
I want a Santos maybe more than any other. Absolute class. Also where can I get one of those gorgeous wall clocks? Oh, that Bremont. That is like hanging a centerfold on the wall. Porn I can hang on my wall without shame. Edit: looks like Bremont themselves sells one. Pricey but gorgeous.
Q: What is the watch (brand) you can't justify and why? Answer: Ming. I appreciate the design language, but the odd hype and contrived scarcity / restricted ordering format make the watch (brand) more frustrating than fun. Seems that most "lucky" (successful) buyers are either speculators / hopeful flippers or disappointed customers when they see the pieces "in the metal"--which is why so many are for sale right after drops. Also, it's an amalgam of parts from sometimes unknown suppliers and the releases notoriously have functionality and finishing issues.
Yeah I'm with you on Ming. I can't stand them. I respect doing something different, but really isn't my cup of tea. Plus the hype is just annoying. Cheers, Adrian
Definitely underwhelming and overrated. I waited 13 months for the 17.09 and it was my biggest disappointment purchase. The ridiculous scrutiny they put you through at the purchase was even more ridiculous. They spent one week “investigating” my account to authorise my purchase. Let’s just say..never again!
This summer my wife got me a watch consult at Ben Bridge in Portland Oregon. I got an hour 1:1 and got to try on a bunch of watches. I never got Cartier. I got to try on the dark gray Cartier Santos, and it was the most mind changing watch I’ve tried this year.
Best episode yet. Love the question you guys answered. I’m a big Grand Seiko for both their dials and their innovations with new movements. I’d love to hear you discuss them more and maybe have everyone bring their favorite brand when it comes to dials or an innovation in the industry they were excited about. Also, I’m looking forward to giving four pillars a try the next time I see it in stores.
This series just gets better with each episode. The banter and the laughs keeps it from being just another “technical” watch discussion . You three rock 👍! Looking forward to the next installment ⏱.
I met Rich from Studio underdog at the London Watch Show last year as he spotted my Brew metric Retro dial watch as I walked past him. We had a long chat. What an amazingly lovely guy. Can’t wait to get the mint choc chip edition as soon as it’s restocked. All watches now with a better strap from the strap Tailor too. Loving this podcast chaps.
Great chat. I’ve got an endurance and it’s a tank. I swim, work out, and travel with it. Got to have one quartz as I use it to set my mechanicals. I’ve got the light blue.
I have a feeling about that watch exploding - so fucking cool! Its just so cool, I will own one someday. Just bought the Bb chrono in steel, so next year maybe🫶🏻
I effing love this show - its such a great listen. The one where they dial in remotely loses something, but all 3 together in a room is really effing good.
The remote dial in (LIVESTREAM) in is NOT the show. That's the in between slot as our show is launched Bi-Weekly. The livestream is only there for one week then we pull it. So its more the opportunity for the guys to connect directly with the audience as the main Show is pre recorded. Good point Kevin Clark
Nice bro!! I just pulled the trigger on one as well. I wanted a series 1000 but I came across a series 1500 and the price was too good to say no. Please consider checking out my own channel to take a look at my video I’ll be putting out on it I want to hear your opinion. Did you find the blacked out one or a stainless steel?
It was about Fing time we had a podcast like this! Love it. Would love to see you cover SERICA watches, such a cool brand out of Paris France with a great story
Checkout the Time and Tide YT channel. Check out the big video we did on the 'Which TAG Heuer Monaco is hotter' Bloody fun story there. We went crazy on that one. There's also plenty of Doxa vids there.
Just stumbled across your podcast and really liked it! So much more relatable than the aggressive Americans and the loony Dutch Irishman. And you’re talking about watches people can actually consider rather than RMs worth 100s of Ks. My recent purchases were a Tuseno Shellback because it’s a really good holiday / swimming / t-shirt watch which looks great and does the job of a Tudor / Rolex etc, and because I have a strong affinity with the vintage, a Tag Targa Florio Fangio 1957 which is so understated and just a gorgeous shape.
It's the PAM968 Bronzo for me. I want one so bad but the premium Panerai charge for a Bronze case is hard to justify, especially when thier Carbon cases can be had for similar money
I actually sold my 39mm Explorer a year or so back because it felt a bit big and bulky. Its replacement was a Santos De Cartier in medium and I adore it. It’s super thin and on the supplied leather strap it feels almost weightless. Great for hot days when your wrists swell (no micro adjustment on the bracelet is a bit of a disappointment, even if it is gorgeous). It’s sporty, classic, you can dress it up or down with relative ease. It’s an absolute stunner and I wear it pretty much every day. Some people fear the inevitable scratches, which it picks up very easily (I’m sure a few stray photons from my desk light have enough energy to leave a mark on it), but it adds to the charm, the first one always hurts, but soon it settles into those scratches and looks worn in, like a well loved pair of leather boots.
Adrian - agreed on the Breitling. I've been eyeing one for months now, but just can't justify the price tag for an itch that can be scratched just as easily by a G-Shock or Luminox.
Tissot T-Touch Solar Altitude, compass, multi timezones, never needs a battery, bloody interesting hands moving depending on your onscreen touch interface....check it out, I've had one for years. And the new connected version is just bonkers concidering you never have to charge it and it connect to your phone via bluetooth.
Funny that I was debating between both of Adrian’s choices. The grand Seiko looked great but seemed to wear small on my wrist. I went with the Endurance Pro in the baby blue. I’m not afraid of scratching it. I can wear it no matter what I’m doing. Very busy dial but very clean lines. I’ll even wear it with a blue suit. Very durable. Grand Seikos finish was high quality though.
I beleive that Breitling is a great brand that for some reason has pieces that are beautiful but with some quality issues. So, I totally understand the thinking process of Adrian. Both TAGs are just amazing, what I would do is sell two pieces of my current collection and combine the "budget" of the two to purchase the Monaco V4 and "justify it" by convincing myself that is not just one very expensive piece but it's the presence of two watches embodied into one. And the Cartier is just a classic piece of watch design, if you can, you should get it! As always great video guys! Keep it up!
The Brietling Colt Skyracer will match that Grand Seiko SBGN003 in terms of accuracy and out perform it based on battery life. It's 7 years on the Sky racer versus 2 years on the SBGN003.
I have a dog running business and the Endurance Pro has become my daily work watch. It is not a cheap plastic watch by any means. I have literally bashed it a bunch and there are no marks on that watch. I highly recommend
@YorkiepoocharlieI think you need to try one on to really appreciate how tough and durable it is. It has Breitling build quality without the stainless steel. But yes I agree with you. One of the things I love most about the hobby. There really is something for all of us
My unjustifiable is the IWC Big Pilot 43, every time i get close to buying it it feels about $2k more than I want to spend on a time only watch with a printed dial. But I can't stop wanting one. Is it love? Or is it pilot cosplay?
My major stumbling block when it comes to the Cartier Tank is just the fact that it's a dress watch. Esthetically, it's my ideal, but I'd rarely get a chance to wear it. The whole episode I'm thinking to myself "Bamford Tank!" Gun metal or DLC case with the Bam blue dial & black Roman numerals (mechanical movement please!) Black strap?
Adams point about the Cartier rings true for me also. That ilke of watch including the Longines "dolce vita" I've admired, but, have always thought they were "true dress" style for me.
George's passion here is why I just ordered his Bamford Monaco (pre-owned). The love and attention to history in the design is something truly special.
As always our local Aussie guy makes the most sense. The Cartier is the only one worth considering, timeless and elegant. The others are not legible, too cartoony and juvenile in comparison. Surprising because you'd assume the two Pommies would have chosen something like the Cartier.
I have the desert sky from @studiounderd0g fun little watch always puts smile on my face when I wear it and nothing wrong with the seagull at that price, nice to see the mechanics at work when using the pushers. If memory serves me correct the colourways for it we’re inspired by a pair of Richard’s trainers!!
On pulling the trigger. When you have that watch that's right on the line. You find yourself really finding fault with each one that you find. You see flaws with it or the watch being used but pristine. This is your mind attempting to show you that this watch may tic the box, but its not doing something that you're just not seeing in the piece. It's weird it's happened to me a couple times. Good chat lads keep them coming.
Discovered this podcast today. I've listened to all three episodes so far one after the other. I'd like to know your thoughts on which brand has innovated the most and who is still innovating. There are a lot of watches that look near identical and it seems to me that innovation is now stemming from colours instead of design. Bonus question: Do you think Covid has positively or negatively affected horology in the long run? While some brands had to close their doors it seems others, as shown in this episode, have sprung up out of nowhere.
We are pretty sure there are also a bunch out there that are waiting till the season ends and then binge the lot. This is super relaxing to watch and be entertained by. Thanks for joining Mike. Answer. Covid whilst being the thorn in all our sides has stopped people travelling and therefore created surplus money in their pockets. Perhaps for many, buying a new watch in this time equals GREAT ADVENTURE that they would have not otherwise explored. So yes many brands have capitalised on this and have only grown stronger. For us we are super pleased the travel restrictions are over as this has aloud us top all come together to make this incredible show!
Definitely with Adrian I wanted a sky blue Breitling endurance pro as a holiday watch but after actually trying it on in store I just couldn’t justify the price So I purchased a seiko paid solar rubber strap chronograph for £350.00
I tried the tank large on my 7.5”, and couldn’t pull it off. So went with a Santos Medium and amazingly it works for a larger wrist person. I think it’s the square… Also agree about the Breitling. Really want that movement in a cleaner case setup.
I bought my son the light blue Endurance Pro last year. It has been through quite a bit, still works like a charm. I wouldn't really call it a cheap plastic watch, though. I'm tempted to get one myself actually, it's an awesome sports watch imho. On a different note, killer Night Diver! I have the re-issue, which I totally love! And the Dark Lord, omg, so cool too! And the Cartier Tank? Yes, please! High on my wanted list!
Man, I never knew the Endurance pro existed till watching this podcast & now you have infected me with the same virus Adrian. I have to go try one now! Loving the podcast btw
I would say that the Endurance Pro and the Grand Seiko are different products for different lifestyles... the aerospace is probably closer the grand seiko but its still not as dressy as the Seiko...
But no one buy the gS and prople buying breitling endurance😅. Grand seiko need to work more on the price a bit hight. The true buy second hand gs is a lot cheaper
I think you missed the point behind the Endurance Pro. Lightness is the goal and lightness is expensive. Cars, running shoes, boats, planes, etc. And how did you unscrew the crown on the floor without screwdrivers, and turn the dial when it's pinned in place?
Great episode, guys. Loved it. For me, I just can't pull the trigger on a Breitling Superocean. I love the design, I love the colours (especially the yellow), but for some reason it just isn't THE diver for me. Bit of a Goldilocks as I am with diver sizes, quality and price. I still haven't found the one for me. The Cartier however, I will have one day soon!
Absolutely love this show and the chemistry, thank you (and Four Pillars Gin) for making this! Personal unjustifiable for me is the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary. Love the brand and its rebel-alliance independent spunk, the brand's values of conservation, the heritage... love the actual watch to bits (that dial, that bronze, those cathedral hands), but for some reason just can't justify pulling the trigger. My circumference (wrist) isn't the issue I don't think, but having made several trips to the boutique and leaving empty-handed I'm starting to feel like George's act of god at work. Can't wait for the next episode! 🇸🇬
Great episode. I had exactly the same with the Breitling Endurance pro, I was initially sold but for the price. As time has past, the more I lost interest. I am sure if they had made them circa £1700-1800 they would have sold a boat load.
My unjustifiable is the Rolex day date, my first watch is the datejust so I can’t get rid of it but I can’t justify having both watch since they are so similar
I have the yellow Breitling, love it. Practical, great looking with Breitling heritage. Also have a super ocean and a Tudor chrono. Among other cheaper examples.
First time watcher👍 three guys who are easy to listen to, bring their own areas of expertise and personality. Super excited to hear about the Studio Underd0g. Hadn’t heard of this micro brand before. Love it. Keep it going lads
Love the unanimity on not caring about "in house". I'm so sick of this vague term that is often BS and even when used correctly doesn't always mean a better product.
I struggle with the Rolex Day Date. I love it’s heritage and place in the world of Rolex, but my brain tells me I can get a very similar look in a fluted jubilee Datejust. I know they aren’t comparable in terms of what they are (precious metal versus steel), but that’s the one I’m struggling with in my head and my wallet. Love the video guys. 🏆🥇
Precious metal watches as a whole is a really good point. The cost of a gold watch vs the same in steel is disproportionate given the amount of gold used.
Look into a Tissot T-Touch....freaking loads of extra functionality than the Brietling and half the price. I've had mine for years....never misses. And mine is on the same Orange rubber strap, so I feel like this is a bloody good comparison.
I had a similar mindset as Adrian about the Breitling Endurance Pro, but in the end, I pulled the trigger. I experienced exactly the same problem as Adrian did when he handled the prototype! Within 5 weeks, it stopped hitting the second marker and was returned. Never buying a Breitling again!
Great episode! I was a big fan of Tag Heuer several years ago. The Formula 1 was my first entry level luxury watch. I bought a few more Tags since then (also a Breitling), but I have moved away from the brand mainly due to the sub par movements. I am surprised to hear you guys are huge fans of Tag. Most watch aficionados trash the brand. Any reason why you guys are still on the Tag boat?
As George repeatedly discloses, he is the official customiser for LVMH which includes TAG Heuer, so he has a professional connection. Time+Tide also works with the brand on campaigns, a fair bit going on. At the end of the day, we are also fans who really like some of their watches.
Thanks for yet another amazing episode guys! This has become a essential part of starting my week as I watch the show on a Monday morning as I start working 👌👏🙌

You could say Adrian is some kind of watch therapist. You just trust him ya know....
We just can’t quit Omega
Good to see Cartier getting the love and attention they deserve. Proper watch makers. Everything they do is class 😍
Cartier are great. Like you say, they are class.
I have slowly been schooled over the years to the Cartier camp....and I must admit. They are some of my favorite watches to shoot.
Such a great lineup - Tank. Tank Must. Tank Americaine. Santos (all three sizes). Drive. Calibrier de Diver. Crash 👏🏻
Ballon's de best. Luv circles.
Just finished watching the latest Adrian Barker video only to get a notification for the latest about effing time, great!
Glad to hear to youtube machine working, for once!
Q: What is the watch (brand) you can't justify and why? Answer: Ming. Great video!! Kudos -- on the Bremont clock on your wall -- love seeing that all the time as I watch your videos. :-)
The TOP GEAR of watches series this, well done!
Great chat. I’ve got an endurance and it’s a tank. I swim, work out, and travel with it. Got to have one quartz as I use it to set my mechanicals. I’ve got the light blue.
I love how you use it to set your mechanicals. I also use my quartz watches for the same reason.
Bought endurance pro last year, great summer watch
Adrian - what about the aerospace? Especially if they revise it soon with minor incremental changes ?
I have a feeling about that watch exploding - so fucking cool! Its just so cool, I will own one someday. Just bought the Bb chrono in steel, so next year maybe🫶🏻

An idea for an episode- how to bid watches? Who are the best platforms, and what do we need to pay attention to when biding?
Adrian - agreed on the Breitling. I've been eyeing one for months now, but just can't justify the price tag for an itch that can be scratched just as easily by a G-Shock or Luminox.
Such a good point! The GShock does everything and more than the Endurance, perhaps not as good-looking. But certainly more ruged.
@@BarkandJack I've been eyeing up the Luminox Pacific Diver in orange... which has a Swiss quartz movement, and is a quarter of the price

And the new connected version is just bonkers concidering you never have to charge it and it connect to your phone via bluetooth.

Hey you know what would be an interesting episode, I don't know if its already filmed, one about affordable grail watches, ones under 2k-2.5K
Great comment Manuel. we will def consider such a thing for the future.
What George said about the Cartier I’ve been doing it for years with my Chopard luc 1927, put a red alligator strap for summer!!! Great result
I beleive that Breitling is a great brand that for some reason has pieces that are beautiful but with some quality issues. So, I totally understand the thinking process of Adrian.

Hey I like thinking. Funny how in this game we need to come up with reasons like this for justification. I for one need more of these ideas myself.

Haven’t been able to watch any of these Live but always enjoy the replay. Great job guys!! Keep it up 🙌🏻
Good fkn lord all three of the wrist checks are gorgeous, especially that zenith holy moly the color way is fkn nuts
The color way on that is second to none. Just an amazing piece and the movement through the open caseback is what takes the breath away!
Love you guys. Caught out by the assembled talent in the industry, kept in by the banter.
Tank has always been my dream watch and im so happy i got one as a wedding gift from my wife last year, There is such a healthy fan base
As always our local Aussie guy makes the most sense. The Cartier is the only one worth considering, timeless and elegant. The others are not legible, too cartoony and juvenile in comparison. Surprising because you'd assume the two Pommies would have chosen something like the Cartier.
Hey George, adrian, is it cool if I laugh my tits off at this? Because I certainly am 😂🤣
Question. Buying watches with or without papers
Depends on trust and if you gonna keep off flip
It's an equation of reduced cost vs re-sellability. If you think the watch is a keeper for life, then it becomes your heir's problem 😉
@@Timeandtidewatches good response Andrew
This was quite enjoyable :D I love this collab you guys are doing. The only show /podcast, I watch at the moment, pun intended .
Pun NOTED
I have the desert sky from @studiounderd0g fun little watch always puts smile on my face when I wear it and nothing wrong with the seagull at that price, nice to see the mechanics at work when using the pushers. If memory serves me correct the colourways for it we’re inspired by a pair of Richard’s trainers!!
I now have the desert sky in my crosshairs. I want it!!
Well done. I enjoyed your show!
Watch Banter that can finally match Theo and Harris. The three of you make the best new watch talk on the internet!
We do love a chat!
I think I agree with you on this one. Great insight TUZU
I just wanna say that your show make me effing laugh! Its great. Keep it up guys. There is a magic between you that just works..
Haha, glad you think so Jeroen.
Laughing is a must in this game...Great to have you along on the ride!
Definitely with Adrian
I wanted a sky blue Breitling endurance pro as a holiday watch but after actually trying it on in store
I just couldn’t justify the price
So I purchased a seiko paid solar rubber strap chronograph for £350.00
That Bamford Tag is the best Monaco I’ve ever seen. There’s just something about that color of blue on watches that does it for me
I tried the tank large on my 7.5”, and couldn’t pull it off. So went with a Santos Medium and amazingly it works for a larger wrist person. I think it’s the square… Also agree about the Breitling. Really want that movement in a cleaner case setup.
I wanted to like the Tank too, but preferred the Santos medium as well. It just sat better on the wrist. Cool watch.
Good move on the Santos Steve....that makes complete sense.
My unjustifiable is a Zenith Defy Classic Skeletal. Love it, but it's really difficult to justify just from a practical perspective.
Time+Tide loves that model - we say do it. You won't be disappointed, and now that the watch will be discontinued, it will have extra significance.
I bought the yellow one and it is my go to beach and sport activity watch and agree. Doesn't feel plastic or cheap at all.
Any ideas who the brand is behind that blue Tank Strap?! Stunning.
Man, I never knew the Endurance pro existed till watching this podcast & now you have infected me with the same virus Adrian. I have to go try one now!
Loving the podcast btw
very interesting, you guys rock, thanks
2:18 the George Bamford doll, available in specialist Soho shops...
The finishing on the Seagull movement looks good. Better than 1963 reissue (and I like that a lot). Chinese watchmaking. Who’d have thunk it?
CIGA Design is taking it to another level again - we are newly obsessed, check em out - Andrew
Well, great. This episode convinced me to buy a Cartier Tank because I was stunned by how good it looks on a bright strap.
You’re welcome 🎩
Great job once again guys!!! 😀It was about effing time someone addressed these issues. 🤣Luv the show. Pls keep it up!!! 👏
Thanks for your great words Vasco Ricardo. We are planning so many adventures for the future so great to have you on board.
I think you missed the point behind the Endurance Pro. Lightness is the goal and lightness is expensive. Cars, running shoes, boats, planes, etc.
And how did you unscrew the crown on the floor without screwdrivers, and turn the dial when it's pinned in place?
@Adrian you can probably scratch the Breitling Endurance itch with a Luminox chrono for a lot less
Ahhh Cartier....one day for me also.
@@marcusflack1523 for me it's a Santos medium!
“George’s act of God” 👏🏻😂
I almost bought the Endurance at the boutique in a casino here in Vegas. After actually trying it on, I hated it. Feels cheap.
It does feel weirdly light.
I wonder if you just cleaned up at the casino if it would have supercharged your impulse trigger? Ya never know.
Great episode. I had exactly the same with the Breitling Endurance pro, I was initially sold but for the price. As time has past, the more I lost interest. I am sure if they had made them circa £1700-1800 they would have sold a boat load.
Maybe....but I think even....maybe not.
Never buy a breitling brand new, you can get them for 2200 euro which is fair
My unjustifiable is the Rolex day date, my first watch is the datejust so I can’t get rid of it but I can’t justify having both watch since they are so similar
decisions decisions.
I got the wife the Watermelon from Kickstarter. Just love the colour. Took a while but when it arrived such a great looking watch.
I enjoyed this. Thanks, guys.
Our pleasure MS.
I was super surprized to see them all respond so fast myself. Bloody refreshing. And would be interesting to hear that unpacked some more.
@@AboutEffingTime but two tone being less than steel... On the secondary market... Makes the brain hurt.
I like the breitling but wish it had a different function on the bezel
@@Timeandtidewatches Appreciate the explanation. I must say the Night Diver Adrian has is stunning. I owned the previous version. Love the channel!
Thanks for yet another amazing episode guys! This has become a essential part of starting my week as I watch the show on a Monday morning as I start working 👌👏🙌
bloody great its giving you good start of week vibes!!!
