I like you. I have a story. Movie Magic Screenwriter keeps flaking out on me, since they changed the serial numbers. Im forced to look into Final Draft and spend the 200 dollars. I would only write on spec stories. My story has been put together after 40 years research. However- it goes against all held beliefs.
@@nomecognome8737 writing is writing you personal story, I have my story to tell and have no interest in being a working writer. On spec- no one pays you unless they want it.
@@Storylosopher I can't get movie magic to work. I'm trying final draft but I can hardly see the letters and the dictionary is inadequate. I'll be looking for an alternative to Final Draft
@@nomecognome8737 Spec is short for speculation, meaning you're writing with no promise of the script being bought. Basically, you're writing it with the hopes of selling it rather than being hired to write it.
😅 In the previous video I said, "you might think," not "you should ask." Anyway, both issues-selling without an agent and submitting to an agent-are common questions, and I'm addressing them. The answer still stands: it's best to focus on getting a manager first. 😉
I am American but black American and I knew so much about the Hollywood CA film industry that I know how California whole film industry is, they are very, very, very nasty. I was emailing prop masters sending them professionally typed letters most of them had their business numbers and cell numbers I was contacting everyone in the film industry and they all was ignoring me. Sag aftra didn't ignore me and it was this one Screenwriter who lived in California she told me if you want to be a screenwriter you must know how to network, you must know people in the film industry if not they will ignore you and I was telling other screenwriters that and they got mad at me saying you don't know what you're talking about. I wasn't being negative I was just speaking facts. With that said I decided to write a story about a different nationality of people I wrote a three screenplays one about Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Italians and I seen that there film industry wasn't as cold as the American film industry. They seemed very nice but most of them didn't speak English they didn't ignore me like my the American film industry was. This Mexican producer told me he except crime/drama Latino stories but I will have to pay to have each word translated from English to Spanish. Everyone in the foreign film industry paid attention to me unlike in America all they did was ignored me. I'm black and I don't speak Spanish at all, but I have decided to write stories of Latino's and have a foreign literary book agent because I feel like my stories will probably be a better success there since my stories are based in foreign countries and I have Hispanic characters. And last but not least the foreign film industry is nothing like my home town America because when you travel the people seems to change as you leave and travel the world.

Anyway, if you have some social midia for both of us have a nice convo about film industry and screenplays, i will love it!

I used to have MovieMagic as well. As always, if you have any writing questions, let me know!
I hear this all time but I don't understand what it means, what's "writing on spec"?

Wow a 4 minute ad.
Why don't we have a chat
I have no interest in a long term career, just one story.
Cough* Pirate Bay. Cough*
How can I sell
Asking the wrong question?! YOU told me to ask this question in your last video about getting an agent. I...I don't like you.

Wow! What a journey. Yes, networking is key, both in the US and in other countries' film industries.
