  • Learning how to pitch a script can be very nerve-wracking for many writers. It takes confidence and charm, but there’s also a strategy that can be learned.
In our latest video, we’ve created a step-by-step guide on how to pitch a movie idea and sell your script with style.
    Here’s what’s coming up:
    • Types of film pitches (elevator vs. extended).
    • What happens in a pitch meeting (general vs. specific).
    • How to write a pitch for a movie (do’s and don’ts).
    • How to sell a movie idea (hint: prepare and practice!).
    • Following up on film pitch / meeting.
    • Real-life screenplay pitch examples.
    Over to You:
    • Ask yourself: is my screenplay “ready” to be pitched?
    • Remember: it’s a two-way conversation, not a speech!
    • How many film pitches have you given? How did they go?
    • Rejection is a part of the process. Stay inspired and keep writing.
    • What do you think of our methods outlined in this video?
Let us know in the comments section below the video.

I do believe what's important is whether the Film story or the idea is worthy or not, focusing on other details may shift it to a job interview instead, and that's why we are watching many Low movies nowadays.

Kind of confused about the movie idea section because a pitch competition brought me here where they only took a pitch with no screenplay. But, it does make sense in the context of being in front of a producer.

Also, do you suggest visual aids like a pitch deck, or is it traditionally just a verbal pitch with no visual aids? Thanks!

visual aids can definitely be helpful as far as a written deck, but not needed for verbal pitches!

I love writing and want to be a scriptwriter/ actress but I have no friends and no one to help me start. Lol People say surround yourself with others who share your passion, but I don’t know where to find them. 🙃

Hi Bella! We recommend that you look to online screenwriters' communities as a start. For example, Stage 32 can be a great resource. You may find this article helpful: www.scriptreaderpro.com/screenwriting-resources/

Screenplay pitching is the lifeblood of the business. But you say it's worthless without a script. This was not helpful. I'm gonna have to invent the method to sell this industry sucks.
