- In this video, Cole Kirkpatrick preps his new 2021 Gnarly Routes KTM 300 XC-W TPI for upcoming Gnarly Routes Tours and riding in Texas. All of our bike builds start in a similar fashion. We get the bike on the stand and use our experience from years of riding and racing to prepare the bikes for use out on the trail. The KTM 300 XC-W TPI is a great bike in stock form but there are certain things that we change out to increase performance and durability (protection parts) for a season of riding.
Cole swaps out the 50t stock gearing for a 51t Renthal rear sprocket and a generous amount of lock-tite goes on the bolts. This tightens up the gears a little bit for racing but the 50t is great for general trail riding at a trail pace. The rear brake caliper is outfitted with an Enduro Engineering disc guard to keep rocks out of the way of the rear disc. Enduro Engineering front and rear axle pulls are installed to make wheel removal easier and an Enduro Engineering brake pedal tip increases durability and feel over the stock tip. Silicone is added to the shifter to prevent it getting packed with debris. IMS Core Enduro pegs are installed for more surface area and grip over the stock units. The IMS Core Enduro pegs are almost indestructible! A Trail Tech fan is added to the radiator to keep the engine temps down when the going gets slow and the radiator is topped off with Motorex coolant. An Enduro Engineering skid plate is added to protect the frame and under belly of the KTM power plant and the OEM bolt holes from KTM make mounting a breeze. The XC Gear Mako 360 SX is mounted in place of the stock bar mounts and does exactly what it advertises. It reduces hand fatigue and the impact felt in the wrists on large trail chatter. Orange KTM SXS triple clamps are mounted up as they provide an increased number of mounting options as well as an adjustable offset. Cole prefers 22mm. The unit in this video is no longer available and KTM has updated the clamps to a newer version. With the installation of these SXS clamps, Cole uses sprocket bolts in place of the stock steering stop bolts. The OEM odometer is removed and replaced with a Trail Tech Voyager Pro unit that is mounted to a homemade mount. A new throttle tube is installed and cut to make room for the Enduro Engineering full wrap hand guards and Renthal kevlar half waffle grips are safety wired in place. The tires and tubes are removed and replaced with Michelin Bib Mousse front and rear mounted inside of Michelin StarCross tires. Cole normally runs a StarCross 5 medium rear and soft front in Texas but due to current availability this bike has a medium front and soft rear. Gnarly Routes graphics from Bike Graphix are installed and they add at least five hours power to the build. Look fast go fast! An Akrapovic slip on line silencer is mounted up in place of the stock unit and adds bottom end and reduces weight over the stock silencer. WP XPLOR Pro closed cartridge forks tuned by Solid Performance replace the stock version and a WP XPLOR 8946 PDS trax shock replaces the stock rear unit. The ECU is flashed with Silber Turbo's MX tune for the KTM and this increases the bottom end pull noticeably over stock and makes the bike more aggressive but still very rideable. Finally, a seat concept seat is installed and a MotoMinded headlight.

That’s was beautiful 😍😍plus no loud music just natural sounds
We missed you at the Ozark 100 miler. Your boy Bobbitt got the win, so it's all good. 🏆
Watching each part go on was like watching the national debt counter
brilliant
Love the format. I would watch many more bike builds or mods filmed like this.
That was almost therapeutic to watch.
Yea, it made me watch it completly...i guess the sound hypnotises
Great job. I liked the silicon filler in the shifter tip. Very creative. First it keeps the dirt out, second the silicon will maintain the integrity of the tip if it gets hit.
Nice! Need another one of these when you build up your 2024 XCW.
Everyone that's not gotten the life experience to ride a bike like this, I apologize that your life is incomplete. For those that have experienced such amazing engineering, we are still working on removing the permanent smile from your face!
I think the stock bike is fine for most people who have never ridien to to start with. Lol or have never got the chance to ride a newer bike compared to a clapped out 1985 rm 125. Lol full floater man. That pos put a smile on my face everytime. I might die from a heartattack due to sheer excitement on this machine.
I’m pretty sure I saw this bike. I was riding in Utah in September, up through American Fork Canyon behind Mt. Timpanogos and my group stopped and talked with a group from Gnarly Routes. And I’m pretty sure this bike was there. Great bike build. Well done.
Great job- one of the best build vids I've seen so far
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Perfect build, perfect skills in building!
Great use of foreground! Nice piece.
This is the best video ever made!! I Love it, definitely content worth sharing 👌
Wow, incredible production/editing and an incredible bike build! Only thing I can think to do is to relocate the fuel injectors to the throttle body (Athena Race Kit).
wow beautiful bike very nice silencer.
Great video. Really enjoyed it!!!
This was fire!
I just did this on my beta so nice when it's new and 100percet clean
love this
Dude that is sick! I have the same bike but mostly still stock.
Man this was cool 👍✌️
Sick🤙
nice job bro ;)
BAD ASS!
Try the MXTECH National shock and lucky forks. That’s the ticket. Nice video and setup.
Sir these are cone valve forks with trax shock.
@@devonrose888 I see that. I was offering my worthless opinion that he should try MXTECHs National shock and lucky forks.
National shock is better
Beautiful video and nice ambient drums. Is the bike now ready to race?
Amazing video. Have to admit when I saw the metal skid plate going on I thought "who still uses these over plastic SXS or AXP?"
Thought I recognized the clicker sticker, then I seen SOLID . Love my setup also. That trail tech, does that track engine hours like a factory cluster?
It sure does. As long as you have the tach sensor installed, the Voyager Pro will also keep track of engine hours.
Hey man- great video- really precise eye- great camera-great cut- and really a good soundchoice- can you tell me the artist and the name of this song ? thx
Solid set-up,.....Calisburg Sunday?
I wish, can't make it this weekend but hope you have a good ride! -CK
Can you add a spark arrestor to the Akra pipe?
Sweet build and nice video. Did I just see this bike at Gold Creek Lodge yesterday? There was a bike there with the Gnarly Routes sticker yesterday. Great day for riding North Idaho backcountry!
Glad you liked the video! It wasn't us but there are several riders out there running our graphics kit from Bike Graphix.
Is the WP-trax shock the same stock length as oem?
Hey Cole. What kind of handlebar mount are you running? Did that have a dampener system? Very curious. I’m looking for a riser / dampener
So on a new bike that's so expensive, why aren't these items already on there from the factory ....
No lock tite used?
orsumness,,what was the total cost of parts, ??
hi this akra fit on sx250 ?
What was the total price of that shopping list 😳
How did you mount that trail tech? What mount did you use? Haven’t seen that set up
There's a video on our channel of the build and setup of that mount.
Awesome thanks I will look for it
@@gnarlyroutes you used the same method on this bike as the other one?
Part 2?
Why the silicon in the gear shifter?
My guess is to prevent mud/dirt from entering and storing water leading to corrosion? I don’t know I don’t even ride but I’m still watching lol
Did it win any race?! 😁
I’m sure, have you ever seen this guy ride? Fast as fook
What seat cover is that?
seatconcepts.com/
It's not a seat cover, it's an entire seat from Seat Concepts, I have that same seat, it is an absolute dream and worth the wait of 8-10 weeks.
4:56 doesn't look very safe
When I watched him put on shitty grips followed by safety wire I knew this was a load of crap. ODI Homie, O...D...I.
Name on the Rekluse clutch also sold it. You literally don't need a Rekluse on these bikes. This video is just disgusting 2t porn for those who can't partake.
Dirt Bike ASMR....
Anodized triples but not hubs and caps. Weak
