The second day was needed! It took 2 days to shoot. I think the first day was all the scenes where they were dressed disheveled and the second day was the actors ‘transformed’ scenes.
DID I hear you say that the 2nd day of shooting the MV wasn't needed? If I did hear that correctly, it is totally incorrect. IU, who Produced the MV and wrote the lyrics, decided that the scheduled 3rd was not needed. That they had enough. So the wrapped up filming after the 2nd day. There is a behind the scenes video of the MV. So V didn't show up on the 2nd day just for the hell of it. The 2nd day of shooting was ALL the scenes with them in clean clothes and no injuries. And IU can hear but is mute. The fact that she can hear is clearly shown in the video. When they stop to catch their breath, IU reacts to the sound of the Cube and looks at it. Inside as they are looking at the scene before then they both react at the exact same time to the sound of the cube passing overhead. Then in the wedding scene IU is holding and singing into a microphone. Symbolically showing that she is mute but in this fantasy world she has regained her voice, which also suggest that shrclost her voice in the not too distance past and singing was something she enjoyed and can for a brief moment enjoy again. The lip ring is the final nail. It is symbolizing a lose of ability to orally communicate. The ring is not present in any of the fantasy scenes. So why do they need the lip ring to show that. Well how do you show that someone no longer has the ability to do something when that something is not visually detectable? For example in V cases, we can see there is an issue with his eye. During the fantasy scenes we can see his eye appears OK. But with someone who is either deaf of mute, how do you show that, especially in a video with no dialogue? Well you can use sign language, right. That certainly a symbol that someone cant either hear or speak or both. But if it is just one, say speaking, then how do you show that to the audience? Well you are attention to the mouth in such a way that is has 2 conditions, one in the real world and one in the fantasy world. And note here that there is nothing of this sort involving IU's ears. What else can you do to drive this point home for those who are still not getting it? Well during the fantasy scenes you show her doing something that in loves her speaking. How about a microphone. If she could hear maybe she would have used headphones. Now why is it that important to make the distinction? Well I believe it has to do with the fact that, as her fans know, is and has been dealing with an issue with her left ear. Causing her pain and impacting her ability to hear herself in that ear, which is extremely important to a singer. I believe that IU didn't want to create any suggestion that she was communicating a worsening of her ear issue by suggesting that she was deaf. Why are you guys suggesting that the Director will clear up issues of meaning. The concept, the storyline the lyrics are all IU's. She picked the director once she had decided on a conceptual image for the storyline. It us the Director's job to make IU's concept and story come alive on screen. But what he thinks about what the meaning or story is actually irrelevant. Any ideas he has to offer must fit within the story that IU wants told. So IU's thoughts about those things are the only thoughts that count. And she did speak about the video in a letter she posted on the companies web site. And to be very honest some of the theories and claims made, especially in the very early days of the video are quite offensive when you consider what IU's message actually is. And that is LOVE. I mean how many times does she have to say that word before some people get the message. It isn't about discrimination (which some are using as a synonym for hate, which it is not) or is it about the treatment of one or another "marginalized" groups. Making the video into those things removes the Love Wins message and replaces it with victimhood, get revenge, hating the haters etc. The entire focus changes. Love is love is love regardless of what hardship a person is going through, how a person is being treated, how unfair life is. There are people who only focus on those things and they are never happy. But the people who focus on love will find their happiness, regardless of the ending scene. Did I read correctly that one of you is a producer and the other a director? Are you sure? Lol. There is one reference for that Mike of clothes that fits the best based on the video. And it's a little sad and scary that so few mentioned it. That pile is clothes looks exactly like the piles of clothes at the Nazi death camps. There were multiple piles, one of clothes, one of shoes one of jewelry and one of gold filled teeth. But extermion was the order of the day back then and in this video. There is a saying that those who forget history are bound to repeat it. You have people like Taylor Swift that is raising money for a group whose world view is exactly the same as Nazi Germany's leadership. And while she thinks she is helping people she is in fact what Lenin call useful idiots.
