Mad content! Love to see how the outfits you trust do what they do. That being said, I was looking forward to seeing some of the Voodoo involved in the Bolt-Together units. Still tho... This was awesome.
It's nice to see Al surrounded by something that he enjoys! He's also became quite the interviewer/presenter as well! Loving the show. Inspires me to continue my quest to build my ideal car once money is in my favor!
Yeah I noticed that too he seemed to really hit his stride in this video. The beginning is too funny. The shop owner talks about what the shop does in a professional courteous manner and then asks al what he would like to do "See some cool shit" xD Al sets the tone to make it more fun and less serious which is nice since a business tour can be bland sometimes, but just when you think it's all fun and games Al starts asking intelligent and thoughtful questions and we gain detailed knowledge about some of the finer points about the industry and how they can apply to make your car go faster. And you can see the shop owner sort of turned off auto pilot tour mode once he ralized Al was curious about how the details really worked. Perfect balance between learning and fun makes the video a delight.
@@El_Chompo Pete isn't the owner, mate. Just thought we'd clarify so as to eliminate any potential confusion. He's one of our employees and an auto enthusiast like yourself. Thanks very much for watching!!
He's really good at it. As I'm sure everyone here in the comments knows, his deadpan delivery belies the sense of humour that is probably obvious to most of us bogan Aussies. He does a great job of leading the interviewee into interesting tid bits. I found the SkidFactory through MCM, but honestly... Al is so much more watchable because he has the depth of experience combined with such a likeable character that I enjoy anything he shares.
I started drag racing in 1963. I was a grunt working for my neighbor's older brother who ran a 1957 Ford Sedan with a hot 312 Thunderbird engine. Later on I ran a 1963 Falcon gasser with a 427 Holman/Moody engine. I used a Hughes C6 because they were a home town builder that had a solid rep for good builds. I later changed to "Clutchflite" (a Torque Flite with a clutch) and went even faster. (The C6 didn't have a lock up converter) Hughes had always been a drag race sponsor of one type or another. "BeeLine, Be there!" God I miss that old place.
Love it, Al as per other comments, you are not only a fantastic builder you really are getting a style for interviews, love your laid back "don't suffer fools" style of presenting and dry humour, even if people are not experienced or mechanically apt your way of breaking it down to a layman's level is great and gets everybody engaged, keep up the great work, your clips are the most anticipated of the week.
Met a fellow fan (Skid Factory & BCW) today, I’d spotted his Allied t-T-shirt and started talking about drag week vids, he then told me he was having a hard time with depression and the interactions with fellow fans was the best antidepressant he had come across. Just thought I’d let you know and say Thank You and well done.
Sounds like we need to send him a T-shirt and hat to help cheer him up! Let us know if you have his contact information. We'll be happy to help a bloke out.
Hughes Performance Thank you so much, I would love to help make that happen, unfortunately I only know him as a fellow fan, so I don’t even know his last name. If I ever see him again I’ll follow up. I have to say If you treat your customers (and it sounds like you do) as well as some random on RUclips, then you are definitely due any and all success that comes your way!
Factory tours! Coz merely doing drag week wasn't enough! I hope visiting this place was a checkpoint anyway or I dread to think how much sleep you didn't get! Have a bloody like, sirs!
Ah, I love an old-school US factory; piles of parts stacked around, piled in shopping trolleys, home-built equipment... and turning out world-class products! Great job lads!!
Great to see a walk round video of a workshop, where the correct questions are asked, and followed up with knowledgeable and great answers. excellent video
Thanks for this video. As a European where most cars are manuals(this changing slowly towards automatic) this is very interesting! I will be visiting the Hughes Channel.
It's a shame torque converters are disappearing now that we're finally getting some auto-love. Sure those double-clutch boxes shift lightning fast and are super efficient, but there's no feel like releasing the brake after loading up the torque converter and feel a smooth constant surge of torque while the gearbox is running through the gears.
I've had great luck with Hughes Performance after changing from another brand. They took the time to answer my questions instead of me having to play musical converters to get things right.
Great vid Al, very informative, always interesting to see a behind the scenes production mob....Benny walk through a classic, must have more projects at BCW
I wanna see more of these types of video: fascinating "how it's made" style with Al's voice over. Needs more B roll of the guys working on them in production though, do more!
You are out in my neck of the woods! A lot of great stuff to do out here in Phoenix and you are already in a great area for any car or truck stuff. Have fun out here
Quick question Al, I'm tossing up doing me upgrading my 4l60e behind my cam ls1 to a 4l80 due to me putting a v2 vortech on it but was wondering your opinion on whether a 4l60e can be built to handle 550 rwhp? any thoughts

Haha no fly's on Al!!
That was a pure Aussie moment right there 😆
That is gonna have to be the next Skid Factory shirt.....
The legend that sorted out the barra's bearings!
Exactly!
What problem??
Benny: "Al, distract him while I grab some cool shit"
"Breakage".
no messing about.
These are the best type of ads. Fucked if I know what goes into good parts, but the people that make them are the best people to teach you.

You guys are going from strength to strength. I'm loving these tech episodes; they are adding depth to the channel!
Pete is so humble, Al is in his element. How good.
Good job asking cool nerd questions Al. Presented really well.
Love these types of videos where legends can just talk the Torque.
Great engineering walk through, many thanks to Hughes Performance and guest's. Great vlog.
Thanks for sharing and best regards from the UK.
Hughes converter powers my rock crawler. Good stuff!
Love how you guys end your videos with the Awkwud little background snippet like this one or your out takes.
Great job and great informational video.

Nothing gets me more excited than a new skid factory video :)
MCM and Skid Factory, knowledge of what to do and what not to do with your ride...keep it up mates...
Very fancy. I'm sure that much work doesn't come cheap. Thanks for the tour 👍
Great job Al. Needed much more detail of the actual process as described by Al.
Taking environmentalism to a whole other lever! This is true recycling! Hughes knows what's up. Good Job!
Really great walk through of the process, these convertors really do hid alot of technology, Cheers Al
I love seeing guys making actual stuff well. Thanks for the tour.
amazing walk-through!
Great episode guys! Good to see you in my homeland looks like we treated you right.
Only a couple minutes in, but I know I'm going to love it.
Next, hit up garret 😍😅
The Hughes guy was a great presenter, awesome video
The whole reason for this video was so Benny could walk out with a new torque converter and nobody would be suspicious. LOL😄
Brilliant job guys.

Yeah, thanks Pete, and of course Allen.
Not an auto fan, but it was cool to get an insight into how auto's get customised
Fantastic video!! Nice insight on the rebuilds!!!
Got one of their 10" stalls for my C3 vette, still gotta put it in tho LOL Maybe I'll finally get to it next spring on my channel.
Turbo Yoda meets Torque Converter Yoda
LOL!!!
That's some resplendent red there on all those converters
I watch Pete’s channel too. It’s funny watching him trying to talk to Al and the camera at the same time. His neck must get sore.
More.... we need more!
Al is SOOOO much more comfortable in front of the camera compared to a couple (right?) years ago!
.. and Benny does the proverbial 'mic-drop' with a couple of converters, walking out the door.
Interesting Vid!
great vid lads, love this kind of content !!!
15:07 Benny , how many of those do you really think you can get into your airline carryon?
Ive brought back Camaro front Rotors (disc brakes) in my carry on luggage before. I did get some funny looks at security/xray !.

Wow, nice catch!!!

Wow its an amazing technology
I'm not into autos but if I ever need a torque converter I know where to start

is there a a company that specializes in torque converters for import performance applications? I'm wanting something for a f4a51 Mitsubishi. cheers

are you guys doing a meet up here in Phoenix?
I assume there are model numbers stamped to differentiate ?
