- Philadelphia Fire Department Engine 69 & Grass Firefighter 1 responding to Kelly Dr & Brewery Hill Dr in Fairmount Park for a large brush fire. Engine 69 is a 1996 KME (EX-Engine 116, EX-Engine 16, EX-Engine 43, EX-Engine 46, EX-Pipeline 6) and Grass Firefighter 1 is a 1982 Chevy/Saulsbury. They are housed together at 82nd Street and Bartam Avenue, next to the Philadelphia International Airport, in the city's Eastwick section.
Great catch of Engine 69 and Grass Firefighter 1 arriving on the scene for a large brush fire
That is the coolest brush truck I've ever seen! Very nice catch!
Oklahoma Emergency Thanks!
I agree that is the most amazing brush truck ever
didn't know these still existed in the city.. nice catch!
Thanks!
Wow, that 1982 Chevy Silverado has been in service for more than 34 years.
it really needs to be replaced.
Hopefully soon
it probably doesn't see too much action
Try a 1967 GMC Pickup. Finally retired 1 1/2 years ago.
Hey if it's old and runs use it
That brush is sick, amazing catch Aaron
Thanks!
Great units, great catch!
Thanks!
Awesome video! That's one gorgeous old 80s Chevy pickup right there!
Awesome! Lovely old Chevy :)
RTobi (Rummeltobi) Thanks!
You lucky duck. Great catch
Lancaster Responding Haha, Thanks!
Aaron Mott I still miss the quint. They're awesome if you spec them correctly which 69 was definitely not.
VERY AWESOME CATCHES!
World Emergency Buff109 Thanks!
Wonder if p.f.d.Will replace grass 1 cause I think they still run grass 3.
Cool!
90210FireBuff Thanks!
Beautiful old truck. I saw you said it has something like 12K miles on it. They must be saving a bit of money by keeping that thing around and in service instead of getting a new unit. Great catch!
This one only goes out once or twice a year. GF3 gets a little more action, but still not much. So it doesn't have much road time. It may have been around 30K now that I think about it, but still, 30K in 34 years is nothing! And Thanks!
The city has a lot of money doesn't spend it tho
Very nice!
It does look old
JoyTimeTV Thanks! Its 34 years old and still running!
Wow it is old
Gret shot love brush truck great job
Dope!
AshResponds Thanks!
is there anything older in service with the PFD?
Marine Unit 2 was built in 1954, but vehicle wise, this is the oldest.
great video man!
Thanks!
That unit does not need 2 b replaced she has some years on her but she's not even broken in.Know bullshit from the 1st day she got put in service till now.She probably has not been used more then 20times I say a hand full seriously....
sweet catches
Q JONEZ Thanks!
Have not seen the old girl at 69's house 4 a while where is she....
Chris Partlow Retired a little over a year ago.
nice old brush truck.
Dustin Poe That it is!
Trained as a paramedic on a mini pumper in 1991
Nice!
Thanks!
How is that old thing still in service 0_o
Xtermn8 TCH Detroit 6.2 power
Xtermn8 TCH And its hardly ever used. I think they said there was only something like 12K miles on it.
Aaron Mott so basically its brand new
This is a fact till this scene hear. The lastime grass1 went out on a call was 1999.
Thats not a fact. They've had a few large brush fires in the Cobbs Creek area and I know they were called to the Northeast when GF3 was out of service at least once. All within the last 2-3 years.
Aaron Mott YR WRONG.
I don't believe I am.
She was barely used don't understand y the dept retired her it kinda stupid r they gonna replace her.
It's funny cause the 1st time I saw chemical 1 they had it stationed at 49 house.Know logo's were even on it so thought the city purchased a new grass unit likely they didn't kool 2 c grass unit 1 is still Rollin.LOL!!!!!!!!!
Haha, yeah 34 years still going!
maybe just replace the light bar, its baerly turning.
Appears to be not rotating at all. I'm sure it's an original lightbar and the motor may be shot. So, if the lamps work on the rotating portion of the bar, position all reflectors foward and wire a flasher to them. Word!
1st thing they got rid of the QUINT for that refurnished engine rather they get the quint back.2nd don't think grass unit 1 had 120k on it I early gets used I mean early that's a fact the last time I saw grass unit 1 in action was in 1999.So y would phila get a new 1when it barely gets used........
If they get federal money to replace them, why not lol
