My father named me for his older brother who didn't make it home from Europe in WW II. Dad did but lost his hero ... his big brother and at yet he was deeply proud of their service but rarely spoke about things. He earned the honor of being laid to rest in Arlington and since the day he got his piece of sacred ground the meaning of Arlington truly hit home - and this song helped me heal from his no longer being in my life. I was able to understand better the man he was and all he did for me and so many others. The words that get me every time "on sacred ground in the best of company ... I'm one of the chosen ones I made it to Arlington ... " Everyone should visit there one day and listen to the quiet and then to the peel of 21 guns and the mournful wail of taps as the bugler offer the final salute as another is laid to rest ... it will move you in a way that will change you forever - in a good way!

❤️ While I also find it sad, I probably hear it differently since my father is a vet and eligible for burial at Arlington (he has chosen to be buried at a different national cemetery). I find it profoundly beautiful and heartwarming that the soldier made it home and not left in a field somewhere overseas. A salute to the Blue Star and Gold Star families out there. Blue Star families have a direct family member serving in a war zone. Gold Star families lost a direct family member to war. God bless them all!

This song brings me so much pride and sorrow. All my family members who have served qualify to be burried in Arlington cemetery when they pass. My boyfriends cousin passed overseas and is burried there . It’s such a powerful song and should bring a realization that this is why we don’t disrespect the flag or soldiers that were lucky to come home safe.
❤️ this heart is for my adopted father and my Uncles who all served during World War II . And this ❤️ is for my birthday dad and my cousins from my adopted family who served in Vietnam. This is the first time I hear this song, I have a lot of other music by Trace Adkins.
I was stationed in Arlington for four years. I started to write about how I felt after the Third funeral I watched. I wrote more than this but this is all that didn't sound like something I'd already heard. "I've walked the fields of Lee's old farm and watched the caissons roll. I've heard the bugles haunting sound and felt the rifles toll."
This song gets me. My kid brother is buried at Arlington. It kinda sucks cause I can't visit him as much as I'd like. I'm getting old now so traveling is becoming a problem. Anyway, all that aside I'm extremely proud of him.
Thank you Maggie for your heart felt reaction to " Arlington". My family has served in the Military for 4 generations and it's wonderful there are people like you who appreciate us and our brothers and sisters who never made it and rest in 155 National Cemeteries. Thank you!

I remember the first time hearing this song; I was in the car and had just entered our neighborhood. I was like you, I didn’t catch it until he sang “I made it to Arlington.” As a veteran myself, it hit like 1000 daggers. I couldn’t even finish the drive home, I had to pull over and finish the song before I could start driving again.
Everytime I hear this song I think about my lil brother thats in the National cemetery in Salisbury NC. He was so proud to be in the Army and left us too damn soon.
Thank you for listening to this song. I had never heard it. I served in desert storm many years ago. And thanks to all are vets and military members for your sevice

As a tradition (of sorts) I play this song to myself during every holiday… I don’t care which one. I encourage everyone to make a visit if you go to DC. It is Hallowed Ground. Trace has the most amazing voice. He is a big tall drink of water who has a lot of daughters and is a beautiful soul
Trace Adkins has so many moving and amazing songs.
Semper Fi is great.
Another great story song by Darryl Worley “if something should happen”
❤❤❤ I love Trace Adkins! His voice is soooo rich. I have always been a sucker for deep voices.😍❤❤❤
I watched it many times when it first came out, and it still gets to me
This song brings me so much pride and sorrow. All my family members who have served qualify to be burried in Arlington cemetery when they pass. My boyfriends cousin passed overseas and is burried there . It’s such a powerful song and should bring a realization that this is why we don’t disrespect the flag or soldiers that were lucky to come home safe.
I live 1 mile from Arlington and pass it everyday and I have 2 family members and 3 friends there and never forget it every time I pass.
I can’t stop crying… this song kills me in the best way possible. Nobody could have done this song better than Trace Adkins. ♥🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
, beautiful song , sung from the heart ,.....
Thank you!

One of the most respectable reactions I've ever seen. You get it. 👏👏👏
this is one of a few song that brings tears to my eyes
I remember the first time hearing this song; I was in the car and had just entered our neighborhood. I was like you, I didn’t catch it until he sang “I made it to Arlington.” As a veteran myself, it hit like 1000 daggers. I couldn’t even finish the drive home, I had to pull over and finish the song before I could start driving again.
❤ this song makes me cry and gives me chills every time I hear it
The line where hiis grandpa clicked his heels and saluted me. Gets me every time.
Everytime I hear this song I think about my lil brother thats in the National cemetery in Salisbury NC. He was so proud to be in the Army and left us too damn soon.
After this, a reaction to 8th of November (Big & Rich) would be great.
Trace is a POWERFUL bass voice.

As a tradition (of sorts) I play this song to myself during every holiday… I don’t care which one. I’m lucky to be an American and humbled by the price so many people have paid simply to let me see another day. I often end those days listening to it before bed, and it still brings me to tears….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve heard this song 100 times and it gets me every damn time
Thanks for reaction, Means alot to Vet's that it means something!!!
I suggest trace’s song “Till The Last Shots Fired”. It’s another powerful song.
Maggie, I am 6th generation veteran, I spent 10 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. My first duty station was Naval Hospital Bethesda (now Walter Reed Army Medical Center) I have been to Arlington many times. The first visit was Memorial Day 1987. I encourage everyone to make a visit if you go to DC. It is Hallowed Ground.
As for this song, I'm 55, and I tear up every single time I hear it.
