They're the reason why I always stood for the pledge of allegiance back in high school. A friend had asked me why i would stand for the pledge of allegiance, and I told her that " You see a flag with some stars and stripes, but I look at the flag and see the blood of all those who fought, who gave their lives, who lost limbs, who shed blood and tears, and for my two brothers who are serving. your not the only one mike as a 17 yr soldier its very hard to keep the tears back we sleep in peace because they are now at peace ,thank you brothers and sisters
My father named me for his older brother who didn't make it home from Europe in WW II. Dad did but lost his hero ... his big brother and at yet he was deeply proud of their service but rarely spoke about things. He earned the honor of being laid to rest in Arlington and since the day he got his piece of sacred ground the meaning of Arlington truly hit home - and this song helped me heal from his no longer being in my life. I was able to understand better the man he was and all he did for me and so many others. The words that get me every time "on sacred ground in the best of company ... I'm one of the chosen ones I made it to Arlington ... " Everyone should visit there one day and listen to the quiet and then to the peel of 21 guns and the mournful wail of taps as the bugler offer the final salute as another is laid to rest ... it will move you in a way that will change you forever - in a good way!
the song simultaneously triggers overwhelming sadness and a glow of pride in nation.......who am i to doubt the principles of those who so selflessly sacrificed for my well being
@@kassideejohnson7473 my brother is a retired war vet (75)....eligible for Arlington....i have friends there... friend's parents there....to stand there and look across the Potomac at DC is desperately sad but a necessary pilgrimage

❤️ While I also find it sad, I probably hear it differently since my father is a vet and eligible for burial at Arlington (he has chosen to be buried at a different national cemetery). I find it profoundly beautiful and heartwarming that the soldier made it home and not left in a field somewhere overseas. A salute to the Blue Star and Gold Star families out there. Blue Star families have a direct family member serving in a war zone. Gold Star families lost a direct family member to war. God bless them all!
I've attended a number of military funerals, and several years ago I was honored to serve as pallbearer for my cousin who was buried with full military honors, and the folded flag ceremony, the rifle salute, and the playing of TAPS always get to me. We owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to our service people.

Such a wonderful tribute to all those laid to rest in Arlington. Trace is a class act and this song makes a person remember freedom does not come free. As for the crying part goes. I well up every single time I hear this song. To show emotion is ok, it means you have a heart. Great reaction to a beautiful tribute.

The Taps and the guns, the folding of the flag, to a soldier handing off the flag to their loved one on behalf of the president and all of The United States. It’s so emotional and really the most respectful type of burial. Beautiful reaction ❤️
This song gets me. My kid brother is buried at Arlington. It kinda sucks cause I can't visit him as much as I'd like. I'm getting old now so traveling is becoming a problem. Anyway, all that aside I'm extremely proud of him.
Another great performance by Trace Adkins is “til the last shots fired” when he performed it at an awards show with the West Point glee club. It’s very good.
Trace Adkins does a lot for wounded vets. Even those who never served, can give to those who were wounded, giving all they could for our Nation. It fills me with pride, to know I can put my name next to others who have served as everyone's protectors.
As a tradition (of sorts) I play this song to myself during every holiday… I don’t care which one. I’m lucky to be an American and humbled by the price so many people have paid simply to let me see another day. I often end those days listening to it before bed, and it still brings me to tears….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This song brings me so much pride and sorrow. All my family members who have served qualify to be burried in Arlington cemetery when they pass. My boyfriends cousin passed overseas and is burried there . It’s such a powerful song and should bring a realization that this is why we don’t disrespect the flag or soldiers that were lucky to come home safe.

My first duty station was Naval Hospital Bethesda (now Walter Reed Army Medical Center) I have been to Arlington many times. The first visit was Memorial Day 1987. I encourage everyone to make a visit if you go to DC. It is Hallowed Ground. I was stationed in Arlington for four years. I started to write about how I felt after the Third funeral I watched. I wrote more than this but this is all that didn't sound like something I'd already heard. "I've walked the fields of Lee's old farm and watched the caissons roll. I've heard the bugles haunting sound and felt the rifles toll."
❤️ this heart is for my adopted father and my Uncles who all served during World War II . And this ❤️ is for my birthday dad and my cousins from my adopted family who served in Vietnam. This is the first time I hear this song, I have a lot of other music by Trace Adkins.
Everytime I hear this song I think about my lil brother thats in the National cemetery in Salisbury NC. He was so proud to be in the Army and left us too damn soon.

I remember the first time hearing this song; I was in the car and had just entered our neighborhood. I was like you, I didn’t catch it until he sang “I made it to Arlington.” As a veteran myself, it hit like 1000 daggers. I couldn’t even finish the drive home, I had to pull over and finish the song before I could start driving again.

Trace Adkins does a lot for wounded vets. Even those who never served, can give to those who were wounded, giving all they could for our Nation.
It fills me with pride, to know I can put my name next to others who have served as everyone's protectors.
Beautiful lyrics!!! And his voice is so deep and somehow comforting.
One of the most respectable reactions I've ever seen. You get it. 👏👏👏
After this, a reaction to 8th of November (Big & Rich) would be great.
As a tradition (of sorts) I play this song to myself during every holiday… I don’t care which one. I’m lucky to be an American and humbled by the price so many people have paid simply to let me see another day. I often end those days listening to it before bed, and it still brings me to tears….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A beautiful tribute to those who have fought and died defending our country. Trace is a huge supporter of all branches of our military and a sponsor of the Wounded Warrior Project.
Love Trace and this one hits so close to home. Served 24 years, wife 26 and eldest 20.

I suggest trace’s song “Till The Last Shots Fired”. It’s another powerful song.
The line where hiis grandpa clicked his heels and saluted me. Gets me every time.
Trace Adkins has so many moving and amazing songs.
Semper Fi is great.
Another great story song by Darryl Worley “if something should happen”
Thank you Maggie for your heart felt reaction to " Arlington". My family has served in the Military for 4 generations and it's wonderful there are people like you who appreciate us and our brothers and sisters who never made it and rest in 155 National Cemeteries. Thank you!

I watched it many times when it first came out, and it still gets to me
"Don't cry for us"
As Toby Keith so eloquently puts it, "I'm not crying for you, I'm crying for me."
Maggie, I am 6th generation veteran, I spent 10 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. My first duty station was Naval Hospital Bethesda (now Walter Reed Army Medical Center) I have been to Arlington many times. The first visit was Memorial Day 1987. I encourage everyone to make a visit if you go to DC. It is Hallowed Ground.
As for this song, I'm 55, and I tear up every single time I hear it.

I live 1 mile from Arlington and pass it everyday and I have 2 family members and 3 friends there and never forget it every time I pass.
❤❤❤ I love Trace Adkins! His voice is soooo rich. I have always been a sucker for deep voices.😍❤❤❤
As a military veteran thank you for reacting to this song.

Arlington is the most humbling place on earth!
Thanks for reaction, Means alot to Vet's that it means something!!!
20 years Navy. Salute to all my brothers and sisters who wear/wore.... Will wear a uniform. Thank you Maggie for your reaction. Your tears are proof of a gentle, caring heart. Don't hide them, be proud of 'em.

❤ this song makes me cry and gives me chills every time I hear it
It’s always the “clicked his heels” part that gets me
❤❣This reduces me to tears every time! My heart swells with pride, but breaks in sorrow for the price our soldiers have paid!🇺🇸🙏❤
