    great tutorial. already on par with the bigger guys in the industry. would love to see more dnb related, like how to make some interesting dnb reese basses, but not the over the top wubs. i feel like there is not enough tutorials on how to make chilled yet energetic liquicity style dnb like: Lexurus, Flite, Camo&Krooked, FredV&Grafix, Maduk, Metrik type stuff

    fantastic tutorial, I'm struggling with side chaining. I've watched pretty much every tut on RUclips and I still cant figure it out, however you've just helped me a lot, maybe post a dedicated video. very detailed yet straight to the point, I've subscribed. keep it up.

    "how to make dnb like Rob Gasser" - nothing... "how to make dnb like Panda Eyes" - nothing... How to make... melodic dnb? FINALLY! Thanks you so much for the tutorial, you should really put some artists in the tags for search optimization, that's the only tutorial on this genre I could find on youtube.

    nice tutorial man! i guess you like fox stevenson since you showed some of his production tricks and explained them really well!
    I would recommend you to try distorting lead and bass together on a bus see what happens.

    Basic sounds are much better than complex because it's not gonna make you have a hard time eq-ing
    Most importantly, pop music mostly are basic sounds that people can catch very easily. Drum and Bass works the same,
    just in faster tempo/BPM

    another way to sidechain that is imo alot easier is in the mixer sidechain the kick to the sounds you want to duck down and put a limiter on them

    Brilliant vid, i picked up a couple tips there. Im bored of making same old dnb. Lool. Only thing id say is it droped to quick. (Not that im a pro) to me it needed longer build up but the track is sick. 😁

    I find the multiband sidechain quite difficult cuz I don't have Fabfilter pro, I wonder if I can just do multiband sidechaining with ParametricEQ or Maximus instead of Fabfilter.

      I think it can maybe be done with Maximus! With stock plugins I’d probably split the bands with Fruity Frequency Splitter then SC with fruity limiter on each channel

      What kind of sound are you going for? Sound design can be as simple or as complicated as you want, I like to go simple and use effects to make it sit right and sound more polished. A bit of reverb/delay after you EQ your sound how you want should help it to sound bigger if that’s the problem you’re having?

      I’ll try to go more into detail in a future one with how I write melodies! It’s pretty hard to explain because it’s something you just kind of work out the longer you’re at it but there are some tips to get better results that I can go into :)

    9:03 you cut your low end lead but why you still sidechained your kick to the lead? The lead already have room for the fundamental of the kick in low end area

      Mainly stylistic, this depends track to track but I like to make room on non bass elements too for the kicks but you don’t have to

    How do you get those Kick and Snare triggers for the sidechaning?

      I use a unique kick / snare sample that I’ve shortened to the smallest size, that goes on their own mixer channels unlinked from the master so it doesn’t make sound, then sidechained wherever it needs to go

      The sound is a saw with an LFO on a lowpass filter's cutoff to get a 1/8th rhythm. And I'm glad you like the song! It's probably going to change a bit when I finalize it but I'd like to release it :)

    simple workflow tip: select a time period, select the elements you want to duplicate and press ctrl+b. It duplicates to the spot you want rather than having to ctrl+c ctrl+v and dragging to the right spot.

      It can be a bit overwhelming as you learn but it gets so much easier, I think a lot of the hard stuff is learning the software/where everything is for the first time, after that it starts making a lot more sense!
