Today’s guitar villain is Jason Richardson, a technical master of guitar playing and an equally adept composer of complex and interesting music. If you tabbed out his guitar solos, they’d look like barcodes. If someone asks Jason, "Hey Jason, how fast?" Jason simply responds "YES". We’re gonna break the speed limit and have a great time doing it on this episode of Guitar Villains.

Thanks for turning me onto this cat
Why dont you get nylon classical guitars just asking
10:30 ask them to rent time on a Carbon 3D machine so they can print hundreds of the different contours at once without making molds and they won't be the exact material but they will be close and they'll fit your fingers like the final product - they use CLIP technology to draw your object out 25x faster than regular additive manufacturing. They have a TED talk on it and a bunch of demos on popular technology channels. To actually get their machine for your personal use was about 40k USD last time I checked.
Alternately, they could take a sheet of the material(s) they want to try and use 3D CNC to carve both sides until the picks just pop out and then give them a tumble with the steel balls to knock the edges off.
Track down Zal Cleminson of SAHB

classic
Lol
Fantastic...
Jason being humble... like he doesn't know how ridiculously good he is. Love it.
Can we get a Guitar Villains with Plini?
That'd be pretty cool
plini is a sweetheart, he can't be a villain, not once xD
Plini it is!
Cascade is fire.
Link cutting off Nemesis head. Jason has reached a whole new level of cool.
For April fools do lil wayne, call the episode "Guitar Heroes"
🤣
0 - 3 - 0 - 3 - 0 - h3 - 0
I just tabbed the whole episode in advance you’re welcome
Jason Richardson signature “Tzuh hahah” counter:
Guesstimate: 26
Final: something like 52.
Note: idk how to count them, as mr Richardson often separates his “Tzuh”’s from his “haha”s and I don’t know whether to count the combination or each individual part as a whole
I didn't know I needed an analysis of tzuhs but now I'm glad I know
Tzuh haha that’s sick!🤪
XD
Do you think you could get Steve Vai perhaps, I think he'd make such a great guest to have. Another great podcast, Jason rocks!
We want Steve Vai! We want Steve Vai! 🔥🔥🔥
ditto
Paul Reed Smith
He did get Vai. Have you watched? Amazing
@@Cestariarts I saw Steve’s vid
The best compliment I could ever get is "final boss material"
"Duh-uh"
-Jason Richardson
I got this notification while trying to learn one of Jason’s songs😂
Coincidence i think not
Which song
This is your destiny. Embrace it and become our savior for metal
Which one? I've been trying to get xiv for a month lol
I dream of the day I even start thinking of learning one of his songs
Jason "Uh Huh" Richardson. What a class act, great interview Tyler. 🤘
Jason Richardson is a badass musician that is so versatile. Technical abilities, the song composition, dynamics, tone, speed, accuracy, djents, polyrhythms, you name it. He is a soup of all of these in an intense way that is so cool.
Another huge guest, Tyler! Glad to see you're bringing in the innovaters.
I am ashamed to admit I've never heard of this guy but I'm definitely going to be looking into some of his music now thanks so much Tyler for opening my eyes to some of the greatest guitarist ever
I'm ashamed to love Chelsea Grin for so long and never thought to look up the sick guitarist shredding through their Ashes to Ashes album...
@@alexanderbrown9317 Jason made Born of Osiris an even better band than they were before. Miss him in them.
Great interview by the way keep ripping it up Jason! Love your compositions!
How to play as fast as humanly possible: 13:40
He practices guitar for 10 hours every hour
10 hours every second
Love the podcast man. Thanks for doing it!
Just want to say I love these so much, all the guests have been awesome and I hope this goes on for a while
Awesome pod episode!!!!
Just FYI...your channel wasn't on my radar as a favorite or go to channel but I'm really digging the guitar villains series so now it is. It's badass 🤘🔥🔥🤘
I see, read, hear richard richardson I like. That simple.
Who the hell is richard richardson?
@@HeavyInstinct ops its jason*
Dick Dickerdson
what
LOVE this new series you're doing Tyler
You know your a Jason fan when you guess the song faster than the guy who made it
Jason's laugh is just priceless. It makes me giggle every time.
Never in my life did I expect to hear tyler say Chode
I think Manuel Gardner Fernandez would be a great guest for guitar villains!! Love these vids aswell Jason is a beast
Perfect choice for the theme.
Another great episode tyler
Fantastic interview, Jason seems like he is such a nice guy. He’s a phenomenal players but I love how he compliments Rich Graham and simply because no mater how good we think we are on guitar there is always some one better and we can learn from them and that is why I love guitar. Don’t hate if some one is better than you just learn and become better 😊🤘
I love this man. My introduction to you and very informative and entertaining.
I was waiting for Jason, thank you Tyler! Now i'm waiting for Steve Lukather, Jeff Loomis and Misha Mansoor :)
Misha would be a really cool guest to have
Mark should be on there too hes not recognized enough
@@joshuagoudie2849 you're right, actually all three of them are amazing guitarists but misha is a little bit more mainstream than others because of bulb stuff before periphery. Jake and mark would be amazing too of course.
We got Misha Woohoo
I adore Richardson and this is amazing to watch.
Chill podcast. Please keep them coming
awesome interview!
Next Episode: Yvette Young
I would love to see her on the show too
please yes
I would love that, but i suppose its rick graham ;)
If yvette young why not i built the sky, rick graham, andy james, tosin abasi, etc they are way faster better....
@@pzdipuing What you got against Yvette
Yo these vids are fire bro, I’m eating them up!
Thanx for this...Jason is a damn beast...great interview
YES YES YES SO PUMPED ABOUT THIS, THANK YOU !
19:40 I remember when I was watching Jason's documentary and Taylor Larson's name popped up and I was like I heard about him but can't remember who is that person. It took me a while to realise Tyler and Taylor were different persons.
Please, I need to see Tosin on here
man this is legendary im glad i discovered this
Hello from Melbourne. What a great show Tyler. Very easy to watch. Well done
Awesome!!
Brian May would be cool to have on this show, but he's probably hard to get ahold of
I hate Brian May!👎
I totally agree
@@mr.ironbodybuilding why would you hate Brian May? He seems chill
@@mr.ironbodybuilding well then you don’t have a good taste
Tyler is SO spot-on on his villain comparisons hahahahaha And choice of guests has been awesome, too
I use to be one of those guys who kept asking how do you play faster how do you get fast...I’m not the fastest like these guys but I can play some yngwie tracks.
1. Practice 1234 1324 etc... 100x 1000x 10,000x 100,000x 1million times etc... all over the neck do it up n down the neck bottom to the top...side ways until you can do it as easy as 1234 coz you will pick that up quick. Challenge yourself and do the hard ones a lot more.
2. Learn solos that are fast. Take a little parts of it 4 5 6 notes only and do step 1 to it and then put it all together nice and slow and build it up. If there’s a section that’s giving you trouble keep working out until you get it might take a day or two maybe three days a week a month depends on what you want and how much you want it.
3. Step 1 and 2 again and again and again and again and again etc....
That’s how you do it... like Jason said...just practice and practice and practice and practice and practice and practice.....And more practice
I’m a massive fan of Jason Richardson and I was absolutely surprised he chose Allan Holdsworth so quick and easily for his dream band. I had no idea he was a fan of him,but that’s freaking awesome. Holdsworth is my favorite guitarist tbh and Jason is way up there too.
Dude this is amazing content thank you for doing this for hungry guitarists everywhere !!
Nice shirt
Love your questions
13:58 : the question
14:03 : best answer
Jason Richardson plays so fast, he breaks the space time continuum and can practice 36 hours per day.
Let's appreciate that they both know the lore of ZELDA
"it was rock hard and massive" - Jason Richardson, 2020
It made me so happy to hear you talk about the G string like that, I thought I was the only one
Jason's new red guitar is badass. I will be on the lookout for one.
I also feel it's important to say that the new Dirty Loops stuff is absolutely mind blowing. I would kill to hear Jason's super group!
such a humble down to earth dude
Hey Jason how fast
Jason: YES!!!
awesome!
Tyler: how do you play guitar that fast?
Jason: Black magic, I guess.....
Love that you mentioned "Greasy Granny" - saw Charlie Hunter in the late 90s and he asked for audience requests, and I yelled out "Giant Steps" as a joke - sax player made a face, but they played it! Such underrated, awesome musicians.
Wow he is a big motivation for guitar playes
I love Jason !!
Awesome interview Tyler, loving them all......looking forward to the Rick G coming up soon....... just an idea....but do you think you could interview Jason Becker? not sure of the logistics etc,but just an idea... :)
I gotta hear the full version of the song at the end. That was sick
Loving the podcast! You should see about getting Nick Johnston on sometime.
ok this is epic
Additionally, I've seen some comments saying that this is a bit too structured, I think that's a feature, not a bug. A lot of guitar interviews are trash, or not very in depth. Whereas this gives a good overview of the artist for the time invested.
AWESOME VIDEO MAN!!! (like always)
edit: I have a semi rn..
Jason sounds like such a nice person
38:43 ah yes, I love the Gibson les chode
that intro theme is cool
Sick intro part
I do love Jason richardson's bigges shred of the world solo's!
Hi I love ur videos ur very funny and u inspired me to play guitar
The sweep picking causing a rip in space time comment fits perfectly with the celestial/astral Born of Osiris stuff lmao. Yea I know touchy subject.
Yeeees!
That guitar is gorgeous...
Jasons chuckle is the best. *Hugh hugh*
i must say tyler love the intro
What is the Donelley Sax solo they are talking about?
Sorry to say that I've never heard of this guy or his music. (In 47. I'm not caught up yet.) Anyway, I've been playing since I was 8 and now I play like I'm ten. This guy makes me want to give all my guitars away and hide in a cave. He is incredible!
Nobody:
Jason Richardson: “heh”
oh shit it's jason hell yeah
also pls can u bring yvette in this podcast i would absolutely love that
what headphones is he using? i need those. Looks like sennheiser. I got the HD600 which is fire, this looks like a higher version of it ??
My first serious guitar (so my 2nd guitar) was also a pearl redburst music man JP i found for about 1200 euros. Best thing I've ever bought
Yes. Enough said
Cool
jason is a god and what a cool dood
We need a review of the new Epiphone "prophecy" guitar(s). Your interview skills are growing, be ready to head off-script when the moment arises :) Note here also Satriani called out Jason Richardson as a possible G3 guest recently on the group interview with Vai and JP.
Tyler, love “Guitar Villans”. Something you stated about can’t get tattoos, can you elaborate? if not I understand. Keep doing what you do cause your an incredible guitarist
Great podcast! Katy Perry's new album is pretty great. I love how diverse Jason's listening is. It shows.
The guy is as humble as to say "I'm curently not in shape to play some of my stuff". Anyway he seems like a very nice person. The guys are hesitating between 9 and 9.5 gauge strings and I'm there in love with my 11 after moving from 10 hahaha.
His Doom and Diuke Nukem tats are fantastic...and so are the rest of them. Dude has basically all of what I want on my arms, minus an OG Cacodemon because Cacodemon
Try a bit less structured. Feels less like a podcast and more like an interview
Well he's never done podcasts before until now. It'll take time but I'm loving each new rendition
@@YourFearIsReal im not doging on him. Im just saying the difference between podcasts and interviews is podcasts are more free form and interviews are structured and planned out.
Right after his advertisement youtube Hit me up with a simply guitar advertisement😂
i love you jason richardson
no homo
Great ,Jason is really cool dude 😎
Have you considered Patrick Souza?
He is so awesome, he is such a natural.
cool
