When I saw the title I was terrified you were going to ruin classic furniture. Instead you gave a beat up old piece new life. Bravo!!! And thank you for the instruction and inspiration
I actually loved the look before you sanded! It was more rustic, but it was so beautiful after sanding I also couldn't be disappointed. Thanks for the video!
Great video from start to finish. I haven’t tried oven cleaner but I think I might. You took some good steps to get that look. It turned out beautiful.
I had tried the easy off method, but didn't take my furniture to sit in the sun. Seems like that's a necessary step. Thanks for sharing. It turned out beautiful!
I did mine inside and it lightened tremendously with no sun. It’s autumn and apartment living. I just let it dry for two three days and as it dries it lightened. I only did one go around with the oven cleaner as well.
Turned out beautiful . I use citrus street and works for me great . I did use the oven cleaner method once. It was super messy and slippery 😂☺️🤣 Well I think I’d leave the stool as is 👍💕
Thank you. I have a coffee table picked up at a thrift store and have been wondering how to strip it. I may try this method. I think you should leave the stool as it is.
I have tried this and it works very well. I'm not sure how cost-effective it would be on a larger project like a bed. After using soapy water to scrub, I do NOT recommend rinsing in water but wiping with a rag and pure acetone before setting in the sun. I also use lemon juice after acetone for even more bleaching.
A good trick for making different types of wood look the same is to use that waverly antiquing wax watered down all over the piece. For that stool, that Restor-a-Finish stuff might do the trick.
@@GraceInMySpacecan you tell me what category you put this video in? I'm just starting a channel and trying to figure these things out. Also what category would you put home decorating and lifestyle things in? Thanks in advance!
I have an antique desk that is stained in with the old black stuff they used in the 20-30's. I want to see what is underneath. I will use the oven cleaner method but I'm a little nervous about the rest!
Oh my goodness! The audacity of this lady washing oven cleaner diluted with all that clean water! Kids go inside it’s a toxic waste land out there now.
This was SOOO helpful and encouraging as I approach my first EZ Off stripper project on a solid wood Henredon table top. Here goes!!!
Good luck!

Glad you enjoyed it!
You are about to save me so much effort on refinishing my kitchen stools
I'm so glad!
Keep the stool as is.
I love the oven cleaner method. I will try it next time I redo furniture.
Thanks, Sarah!
You are so welcome!

Thank you so much!
I think the stool would be beautiful done the way you did the table! Thanks got sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I LOVE what you did with the side table. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome!
Yes it looks fabulous, great job👍
Great video from start to finish. I haven’t tried oven cleaner but I think I might. You took some good steps to get that look. It turned out beautiful.
Thanks for watching!
LOVE the look!!!
Thank you so much!
I love the way your table turned out. I would use the same method on the stool.
Thank you!
Oven cleaner method works great on oil based finishes.
I had tried the easy off method, but didn't take my furniture to sit in the sun. Seems like that's a necessary step. Thanks for sharing. It turned out beautiful!
Glad it helped!

100% simply gorgeous! You did an excellent job transforming the table!
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow! Such a good hack. We had no idea that was a thing! 😱
I’m so glad you shared this... I have a small table in my basement that I have been wanting to do. I’m going to give the easy off oven cleaner a try.
Good luck!
I adore that little table. My style.
Thank you so much!
Thanks 😊. I’ll have to try it I just got an old table 😊
Good luck!
I have several pieces I’ve been wanting to try this on! Your pieces turned out so beautiful!
Thank you! 😊

I would leave it. I have heard and seen finished pieces using the Easy-Off method but it was great observing the process.
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you so much! Good luck on your project!
love the update! I have tried the oven cleaner trick and I have had mixed experiences :)
What kind of project did you struggle with? I’ve heard it’s not good for paint.
Excellent video thank you!!! I’m going to try my table wish me luck!
You can do it!

Great tips!
Such a cute stool…I vote to leave as is 😊
Thank you so much!
I love it! Great job! 😍-Joanna
Thank you! 😊
The milking stool would be attractive done like the project you have just shown in this video.
It could be a cute option!
What colour is the wood wash tone you’re using ? I loved the colour . Thank you 😊
All the details are in the description 😁 Paint Wash Color Used: SW Jogging Path

Keep the stool the way it is or do the same technique you did on the table that looks great ❤
Ok thanks!
Keep stool as is.
Good job on the table!
Thank you so much!
Love the finished product!! Sooo much better. What paint color and stain colors did you use on the table?
All the details are linked in the description!😁

Does this method also work for dark wood like emboia
It won’t take natural tannins out of dark woods. It only lifts stain or paint.
Awesome. Can you use this to strip paint?
I haven’t tried it on paint but have heard it does not work well.
@@GraceInMySpace Oh shoot. But, thanks so much for letting me know.
Nice! When I click on the link to see the stain you used it says page not found. What stain did you use?
It is miniwax special walnut

What kind of stain did you apply at the end ? What color was that ?
The stain is linked in the description!
What stain did you use, color? Just do darken it slightly?
The stain color I used is linked directly in the description! ☺️
Did you use an oil based paint wash since you used an oil based stain? Im trying to get this same look but dont want to mess it up
Nope! Mine was latex.
Very nice, I noticed your wallpaper in the background - would you recommend peel and stick or do you hate it ?
I like it! I actually have a full tutorial on my channel!
I had not heard of this method-but I like it!
Will be interested to see what you do with the stool.
You and me both!🤗
Nice❤
😊
Any oven cleaner will do the job? Also, what happens if you don't have any power tools?
I like easy off best. No power tools just means you can hand sand!🤗
@@GraceInMySpace Hopefully, I'll get the same magnificent result you did then. Thank you!
If you have no power tools, buy some.
@@meme-du8xj How come I haven't thought of that before?
I did it just as you said nut it just took off the shine. I'll try again.
If you’re working with lacquer it may take a few tries!
If it's not a full wood piece, how would you go about rinse the oven cleaner off?
If it has particle board of any kind then this wouldn’t be the way to go. You need solid wood or it will be too harsh of a process.
Would not change the little stool. Very nice as is.
It’s a cutie!
❤❤❤❤
i luv'd the original color, rich. now the top is warped
😊
Are you just letting oven cleaner run off your driveway and into the grass?
Oh my goodness! The audacity of this lady washing oven cleaner diluted with all that clean water! Kids go inside it’s a toxic waste land out there now.
Are you just being a judgemental obnoxious person about a property that is not your own?
Many people are not aware why this is not a good thing.
Yes because grass is a GREAT filter!
Leave the stool the way it is
Thanks!
There's a reason why most restores do this the old way , because the cleaner can burn the wood ....
Leave it
Leave it and live with it for awhile and then make your 😢decision.
Good advice!
