bruh im here with 768p 60hz... thin k how i feel? btw 60hx is perfect cause if you dont have good pc you will never hit those 144hz well if you play games like csgo and older games then you sure hit but its just a waste of mone i in my opinion
@@JonelKingas I can play fortnite, pubg and apex legends on a rtx 2080 and i7 8700k, 1440p 144HZ monitor and most of the time at the highest settings I hit 120fps the majority of the time. Yes it cost almost 1.8 grand overall to build my pc and get my montior but the fact is it's nearly the highest of high end.
For anyone wondering, I actually notice a pretty big difference between 60Hz and 75Hz with my overclocked IPS panel... it's an effective, free way to boost the fluidity in games; even moving the mouse around on the windows desktop is a noticable improvement - it's a 25% boost in refresh rate!
Never really saw the point of 144hz until I recently built new rig with 8700K, 1080 Ti and Acer Predator XB1 27 G-sync monitor. The difference is night and day between 60 and 144hz.
Blaž Bohinc I was using an i5 2500k, 8th gen was first time I felt it needed upgrading. New rig just cost me £2900. But hopefully it'll last as long as the 2500K did.
Blaž Bohinc Mine lasted fine, only upgrade was a HD6990 to a GTX1050 Ti as a temporary upgrade. Was going to upgrade to 7700K then Ryzen got announced so figured I'd wait and see if AMD was actually going to be any good. Then coffee lake was announced so waited again, I bit the bullet on launch night for the 8700K and stayed up all night constantly refreshing five different websites. Amazon US had 15 on launch night and I luckily got one. Icelake will be impressive so fair play to ya bud, but I'm done for at least 5/6 years. I'm not usually one for smaller incrimental upgrades.
I have nearly the same build. 7700k 1080ti and ASUS MG278Q but IMO ASUS has much better QC than ACER and the colours are still amazing on the TN panel, G sync would be nice tho. Getting the 8700k when I can find it instock.
I agree. First time I switched from 60hz to 144hz I actually didn't notice it. I returned my 144hz monitor for a 60hz then was confused why everything felt so choppy. I tried everything to fix it thinking my pc was messed up. Returned the 60hz for the 144hz monitor for one last attempt and everything was smooth again. It's worth the money for sure!
Suisiders My friends are all console gamers so I have an Xbox one as well. Since upgrading to 144hz with this rig I literally can't play console anymore the picture is so blurry when moving cursor sideways that it makes me feel a bit sick
Higher refresh rate is always a priority. I am on 1080p 60Hz for 5 years now. My next upgrade will be 4k@120-144Hz which judging by the prices and availability will take me about a year to afford. I want my upgrade to be very substantial so I will probably resist getting a 1440p @144Hz monitor for some more time.
If higher refresh rate is your priority, then you should avoid 4k because at that high of a resolution you'll be lucky to get 60fps in game, and so what's the point of having the ability of a monitor that can display more frames per second if your resolution is so high that your GPU can only offer up console level frames per second to the display? If refresh rate is your priority you should use a 240HZ 1080p monitor. The lower the resolution - the higher your fps. The higher your fps - the more you're actually using the high refresh rate of a monitor. So if running at 4k drops your fps to 60, then you're just wasting the monitor's high refresh capability and you're not really seeing anything at a high refresh because the GPU isn't sending enough frames. At that point you might as well be playing on a console. Avoid 4k if you like high refreshed visuals, unless the most demanding game you play is Angry Birds.
Living with dell e228wfp. The Edges of the screen have gone yellowish. The CFL is Dying from last 8-10 years i guess but it still works :D Some dead pixels that i am used to now. OLD IS GOLD. Before this one i had a sync master 753s that lasted for 7 years.

My problem is that I don't want a TN panel...I used to have an old school one and it sucked for color and viewing. Compared it to my asus 1440p 100% rgb and I can't go back haha. I game a bit but I also like watching movies, yt, netflix, etc. Guess I'll just stick to 60hz at least for a a while longer.
Even gaming tended to look substantially worse on my old ASUS 144hz 1080p monitor. Once I'd start pushing the frame rates up to 144, I'd get an annoying screen door effect where everything looked dithered. Jumping to an Acer 1440p IPS 144hz monitor was amazing. The picture looked complete and the colors weren't even close on the old panel.
I'd recommend checking out Z Reviews and his Reddit page, though I really do think that Greg severely lacks audio equipment content and would love to see some here.
Just upgraded to 1440p 165Hz G-Sync IPS paired with my 1080ti. It's pretty great, but i'm finding g-sync to be a bit lacking due to lack of support. Some games just don't work with ti at all. Dark souls, for example, is engine-capped at 60Hz. Warframe apparently just uses vsync and doesn't work with g-Sync at all, and with v-ync turned off, it will shoot up to 300+ fps. Some games do support it well though, and for those, it's glorious. The Witcher 3 is a good example there. Just beautiful and buttery.
Looking for a great 32" 1440p, with at least 75hz refresh rate and great color reproduction (for gaming and content creation). Any suggestions? I've searched a bit, but can't find much in this arena.
75hz is not common enough for that kind of monitor, finding a 60hz 1440p IPS panel would be much easier(maybe even 144hz), search around reddit a bit to find/ask some people
About a month ago, I was running an R5 1600 and a GTX 960 (had it for over 2 years) with a 1080p/144hz TN monitor. I just upgraded to a 1070 (scooped it up for $380). I think I made some good decisions, right?
I have a really nice hand-me-down rig from my father. Idk the exact specs but ive been able to run modern games like RE:2 remake on my 144hz monitor with no optimization and no issues. As a person who actively games on PC but is trying to learn more about the technical side of things, you and ur videos are incredibly helpful! Thanks for the cool video
Perfect video! I'm searching for a budget 21:9 for my GTX 1060/FX 8320 PC :D Well i shouldn't complain about my 1080p 75Hz PLS Samsung screen but eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
I suppose I am a bit behind on the curve these days but I am still very pleased with my ASUS PG278Q. The 27", 1440p, 144Hz TN version. Granted it was expensive when I first got it, but has held up very well, given the screen type. I appreciate the lower glare rate of TN. Just had to calibrate it properly and don't really notice any difference. Still plenty of room, once I upgrade the GPU to reach the higher refresh rates.
Very Great Video! Planning to get an Ultrawide Freesync Monitor probably this upcoming December. Currently have i7 6700K and RX580(Will upgrade soon down the line) Don't know where should i lean to between a 75Hz, IPS,1440p (LG 34UC98) or a 100Hz,VA,1440p (Asus MX34VQ). Can't see them in person since these products are order basis. The Asus is more expensive for about $90 equivalent. I play mostly slow paced, action games (Witcher 3, Assassins Creed:Origins and the like) and sometimes FPS. Also do some photography so I need that kind of resolution/ picture quality. Is it worth to spend $90 more for that monitor? THank you for your time :)
Hah, I got myself 1440p 144hz monitor.... my 300$pc can't utilize 50% of it's features... Yeah, sure it can run HL1 at 1440p 144hz but not much else... :D
I picked up the Dell s2716DG G-Sync 1440p 144Hz monitor last month to replace my old LG 60Hz 1080p monitor. It was an open box item (pretty much new) from MicroCenter that I got for $425 vs. the $500 they charge for the item new. www.microcenter.com/product/458837/s2716dg_27_led_g-sync_gaming_monitor The monitor is TN, but it still has great viewing angles from the left and right sides, as well as from the top. I don't notice any color degradation, except for when I have a viewing angle from below. Once you calibrate the monitor using Nvidia's control panel, it comes pretty close to IPS quality, and for gaming, it doesn't blur like an IPS panel will. G-Sync is simply amazing; I'd imagine that Free-Sync is pretty good for AMD gamers using monitors that support it. I highly recommend that Nvidia graphics card owners look into getting a G-Sync monitor with a high refresh rate, over just getting a high refresh rate monitor that doesn't support it.
Hi; I'm really wanting a much larger display for my old pc and i have the rx560 gpu. All i've ever used were 24" 1080p 60hz and i'm really wanting to expand my FOV with games like witcher 3 as well as tv and movies. At 1080p, will my pixel density be sooo spread out that i'll be unhappy with a 32" screen size? Would i benefit from a 1440p? Higher refresh? I sit a good 6 feet from the monitor. Thanks!
I have a GTX 1080 Founders Edition, not the TI, and a crappy old i7-3820, not the 'k'. So for me to get over 60 fps in some titles I have to lower a setting or two just a bit. And this is on a 1080p old Asus VE258Q. So I can't upgrade to 1440p. I want a 144HZ adaptive sync experience, but in order to enjoy that high refresh rate experience I need to stay on 1080p. I also want an IPS screen, and a decent screen size as you say. That's why I want the new Asus VG279Q. It checks all the boxes. Please review it if you get the chance. I haven't purchased it yet.
For anyone whos watching this because theyre in the market for a monitor to go with their high end rig like I was until today, the Dell S2417DG can be had for $320 at Amazon or Best Buy has it on sale for the same price (they also price match amazon anyways as long as the item is "shipped from and sold by amazon.com"). I adjusted some settings on the monitor and in Nvidia control panel and got the new TN monitor to looks almost identical to the IPS panel monitor I also have setup. So QHD, GSync, 1ms, 165hz for $320 ($280 if you get an open box from best buy or amazon warehouse) and you can get the colors and such very close to an IPS panel. Definitely worth considering. I dropped from a 27" TN 76hz QHD to this monitor and its a night and day difference in how everything "feels" and looks.
My current Monitor is 1366x768, just upgaded my PC for Christmas(or at least I will have once my RAM arrives) honestly can't decide if I want a 4K monitor or 1080p high refresh, I only have a 1060 so I'd be gaming at 1080p anyway but I don't play competitivly or online ay all really so I really don't need anythig above 60hz but it would mitgate Screen tearing.
I dont reckomend IPS 1440p for FPS Shooters. Especially for competitive gaming or similar. The delay is too much at least for now on IPS pannels. I have a friend who switch on 1080p when playing with good players because he cant see us when jumping around in BF4 on 1440p 27inch IPS 2ms. Of course its not real 2ms. Just marketing.
bought acer predator xb271hu 4 months ago - 1440p res, ips 27''', 165hz(oc) g-sync monitor, there was - xb271hk - 4k monitor but, i took 144/165hz refresh rate over 100hz because gtx 1080 will still be having a hard time driving 4k monitor at 100fps in modern titles at max settings, and like said there is very low options on choosing a 4k high refresh rate monitor
yo, even if youtube DID support 120 fps only people WITH 120 hz monitors would be able to see a difference. So you still wouldnt be able to show someone who doesnt have one.
Doesn't the high refresh rate IPS displays still have a relatively slow pixel response rate so while there may be more frames per second being displayed, the pixels can't keep up making the animation appear mushy? My Asus gl702 laptop's IPS display overclocks to 103hz (verified to not skip frames using a slow shutter camera on testufo), and honestly, even going back to 60hz external monitor, I don't see much difference. Input lag is improved of course but visually, with IPS limitations, high refresh rate isn't its strong suit.
Please ask Asus to send you the new Asus VG279Q for a review. Nobody in youtube has reviewed it yet. It's the only 1080p IPS 144HZ adaptive sync gaming monitor in the world, (all other FHD are TN, or VA).
Simple....go to Best Buy and buy a vizio 40-50 inch monitor that will put to shame just about any expensive monitor. Before you try to educate me on the difference....let me educate you. You cant even see the difff between 5 and 25 MS of input lag. As for refresh rate...120 hhz is available in the Vizio line up at a quarter the price,,,,and 4x the viewing real estate
Just got ultra wide 4K 144hz monitor, but I personally prefer to play minecraft at 30fps, more cinematic (not that you can even see 60fps anyway ) is super nice, also I prefer 1080p, the sharpness of 1440p and 4K hurts my eyes my gtx 1080ti runs it well!
1080p 144Hz all the way. Unless you are going for a giant monitor, no more resulotion is needed, and running at those higher resolutions just hurts performance wastefully in my opinion. 1080p@60 beats 4k@30 any day.
1440p 144hz is the sweet spot for decent fps and visuals, if you can't get a gpu capable of at least 60fps on 1440p (gtx 1070) then anything above 100 for 1080p is great. I'd take 240fps on 1080p vs 60fps on 4k any day of the week twice on sunday
I had been using a 1600x900p and 1300x768p monitor for over 10 years, yeah i know it sucks! Now im using 4k 60hz, will be upgrading as soon as 4k ultrawide 144hz comes out
Perfect gaming Monitor *in Your Budget* . Look, I got a banana. Nothing here was within my budget. I'm reporting you for clickbait. Don't reply with stupid replies, I'm joking.
I must be mentally damaged because for me, 1080p and 60 FPS is at the very most what you need. 720p and 30 FPS at is perfectly playable. I honestly see very little difference in refresh rates or resolutions past 60 and 1080.
Not sure what to do with my setup. which would u use. both 1080p one 24in @ 144hz or a 27in @ 80 hz. I play a little bit of everything mostly shooters. I have a 4770k and 1070
I have a i7 8068k with a 2080ti with 16gb ram. I should say I’ll be getting it in a little bit which monitor would you chose I want higher refresh rate with low response time 🤔🤔 any suggestions
I still don't know what type of monitor I should get. I play bf5 fortnite pubg csgo and more and im on 1080p 60hz now but I am really competitive in those games
I was a console gamer (PS1 to PS3) a long time ago (I also played CS on PC but never got to see 60 fps because of poor hardware). But after seeing 60 fps on pc, I was quite surprised. And after seeing 165 on an asus display....my mind exploded.
I find it strange that so many tech channels hate 4K so much. I won't deny that higher refresh rate gaming is great, but it costs so much and you have to make sacrifices in so many places that I personally don't find it worth it. Non-TN 144Hz panels are so expensive yet TN has so many drawbacks (poor viewing angles, worse colours, washed out image,...) that I don't even consider them anymore. Then there's the fact that quite a few games don't support higher than 60fps. I recently played cuphead, dark souls 3 and outlast, all of which don't support above 60 fps. I recently picked up a new 4K IPS monitor with freesync, fully adjustable stand and a ton of other useful features for €350. For the same price, I could have picked up a 1080p 144Hz IPS panel, which honestly feels out of date before I've even used it due to the low resolution, or a similar 1440p 60Hz panel, which is basically just throwing resolution out the window for no reason. Also, 4K is a lot more useful outside of gaming than 144Hz when watching movies, doing CAD work, photo editing, browsing the internet,... TL;DR 144Hz is a one trick pony that sacrifices resolution, colours, viewing angles, improvements outside gaming,... while I personally find 4K 60Hz gaming as enjoyable and general usability is so much better that I would pick 4K 60Hz over 1080p 144Hz any day of the week. 4K is a great value option and shouldn't be discounted
if You just play non-competitive game then You're right, you don't really need 144hz monitor. 60hz all good and enough as long as you can get great fps in your game. but once you use a 144hz or higher refresh rate for gaming or other activities then you'll see that it's worth the investment. personally i find that 4K it's not really worth to get for now but i'm not saying that anyone shouldn't get one. so i kinda understand if tech channels kinda dislike 4K
Maybe it's just a difference in market, because in my part of Europe, I can't find any 144Hz IPS panels for a reasonable price. Still, even if I had the option, I would still pick a 4K 60Hz panel over a 1080p 144Hz panel, the difference in clarity is just night and day while 60Hz vs 144Hz isn't that huge and really loses it's edge outside of gaming. But I also hate ultrawide screens so what do I know I guess
I get all of that but if you want the best performance gaming wise TN 144Hz 1ms is yoyr option. But if you aren't as serious about gaming and you want better colors better angels better imagine then yes IPS/4k. It's depends what you want
I assume that 1080p 144HZ IPS panel you were referring to is the Asus VG279Q. I'm planning on getting that monitor. Higher resolution means lower console levels of frame rates and graphic settings. Max graphics settings and 60+ fps are more important to me than pixel density. In a perfect world I could have it all without any sacrifices. But as it stands my GTX 1080 drops to 55 fps in Assetto Corsa Competizione on high settings when there's a full field of opponents. And that's on my lowly 1080p resolution monitor. Now imagine I upgrade to 1440p, I would drop to an unacceptable 35fps, I'd hate to think what my frame rate would be at 4k. Can't do it man, sorry.
The best monitor you can get is the Eizo CG318-BK 4K monitor. This monitor is fully Color Calibrated and is by far the best monitor I have ever seen or used now it's not cheap with a Price Tag of $5,739.00 but when you are running the SuperMicro SuperServer 4028GR-TRT 24-Bay Drive SSD, Dual Xeon 2699 v4 (22-Core) CPUs and the system can handle 3TB of ECC DDR4 2133 MHz of RAM plus I am running 8-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti Graphics Cards so that's 88GB of VRAM.This is a editing and rendering machine that mines Ethereum on it's down time.
I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing, but I'd like to confirm with some techies who know more about this than I do: In PCPartPicker, I selected the following: ASRock Z170M Pro4S 2TB WD Blue 500GB Samsung 850 EVO Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB-3000Mhz It said they were all compatible, but for some reason I couldn't find the board on ASRock's website to confirm, so can someone tell me if those parts are compatible?
I just got my 144hz monitor asus vg278q...i don't know why but i see no difference at all. I Used to game on 60hz Lg monitor...the colors are better actually but overall no big difference.. My Pc Specs Are CPU : Intel Core i7 7700k Graphics Card : Asus Strix GTX 1070 8G Ram : 16GB Corsair vengeance Lpx 3200mhz
hello loved the vid i have a ques tho, which one would you choose this monitor.... Acer Predator XB321HK bmiphz 32-inch IPS UHD (3840 x 2160) NVIDIA G-Sync Widescreen Display (2 x 2w speakers, 4- USB 3.0 Ports, HDMI & Display Port) or the viotek you have in your video?? im not sure why i cannot find the refresh rate of the acer monitor??
Hello , I enjoy watching your videos . I currently own a pretty decent PC in my opinion : RX 480 Gaming X 8 GB VRAM , i5 6600 non-K , MSI B150M Grenade , 16 GB RAM DDR4 2133 MHz , nJoy 650W 80+ gold but my monitor is pretty crappy (1440 x 900 75 Hz). What monitor should I get in order to get the best gaming experience ?
I finally decided to buy a 27 inch full HD monitor (TN) with 144 Hz for 235 US-D, I know that the pixel density is just 82 ppi, which is below the optimum of 90 - 100 ppi, but I had 4 Criteria: - Large screen, suited for any task. - A refresh rate that is so high that if I install a better graphics card, the monitor does not need to change to notice the added value - Budget is 200 EUR or 235 US-D - the bonus of AMD Freesnyc (range is 30 - 144 fps) I could have also taken an IPS panel with 75 Hz or a 24 inch monitor with the same specs, but I wanted the big screen, low input and the sweet Freesnyc, so when I buy a new AMD graphics card, I would have a beautiful fluid gaming experience.
My eyes are not as good as they once were, however, I continue to game from time to time World of Tanks for example. I have a 40" Samsung UN40F5000AFXZA that I purchased a few years ago and have no problem picking up action with peripheral vision. Another concern is response time and input lag. I would consider a screen from 40 to 43" at 120Hz, however, I find them very difficult to find at 1080p. Any suggestions? As you know 4K at 120Hz is supposed to arrive in 2018, however, that will require HDMI 2.1 and a very powerful graphics card. I would prefer to have a good gaming 120Hz ~40" monitor now. I sit two feet from my Samsung. Thank you for this video.
I'm a console gamer(XBOX-X) that games on a 55 inch 4k HDR TV and this March I will be building(with help) my first PC(GTX 1080TI) with most of the bells and whistles...Yes, I am a bit excited... So my question:) How much of a visual increase or decrease will I have going from that setup to sitting maybe (2 to 3ft?) away from a high end, high 150FPS, 32 to 35 21:9(wide) screen monitor???? I know the refresh rate will be amazing, but wondering more about the difference in actual eye candy that will or will not be seen in comparison???
I'm upgrading my monitor until the end of the year (have now a i5 6600 + GTX 1060 6gb, been building since august/2016 -- BEFORE RYZEN, people) but unfortunately unless I imported, i don't have a lot of options that don't cost a kidney. I probably ended up with a 24" IPS 60hz 1080p. Which coming from a 18" 720p TN would be a upgrade. I really think it's worth it the higher refresh rate, but I never used and it's like you said, once you go theres no coming back but until then...
I got my new monitor about 2 weeks ago. My build is a g4560/GTX 660 ti/8 GB RAM. I got a 1440p 60 Hz IPS monitor by Asus. My main game is PUBG and I was playing on a 900p monitor at minimum settings getting about 60 FPS. Why did I go 2k then? Fry's Deal of the Day had it for just $144. I literally got the email and drove straight over to grab it. This season I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card and I'm hoping to play PUBG at minimum settings 1440p. Any advice on what GPU I should be looking at?
So i have Specs: GPU: MSI AMD RX 580(4gb) CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1400 MB: MSI B350M BAZOOKA RAM: 8GB EVO POTENZA OS: WINDOWS 10 I want a curved monitor and decent size what would you say would be a good monitor for me.(This is my first gaming pc)
I just bought a TN panel, and I don't mind the lesser quality in colour and viewing angle. But I might be coloured by the fact that I've run f.lux for several years, and you really sacrifice colour to save your eyes. I'm just happy I got a 27" 1440p 144hz G-sync monitor, the Dell S2716DG, and I'm just fully enjoying the upgrade from 1080p, and G-sync makes up for the fact that some games run in the 50-70 fps range. Most of the games I play though are still able to get above 100 fps (e.g. Rocket League), so it's not that big of a deal. Indiegames as well often aren't that demanding on the graphics card.
science squad - I am running an outdated AMD FX6300 OCd to 4.2ghz and a Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 4gb OCd to 1325mhz. I have no idea if it could support 1440p or not. I am currently on a budget 1080p, 60hz refresh rate monitor and want to upgrade (potentially to ultrawide). Would I be shooting myself in the foot getting a monitor that boasts 1440p or 4k if my PC cannot output at that level??
Just switched 1440p 70Hz TN iiyama(g-master) for 1080 144HZ VA samsung (Qled). The smoothness of higher framerates and especially the great black of VA wins for me. And as i mod the hell out of games (eg. drawing distances, very taxing) the 1080 will not be underused. I'd love to see the 27 1440 q-led one, but proper gaming at that res with high fps would require idk 1080ti sli o.O Not rich enough yet.
I own the AOC G2460PF. It's 144Hz FreeSync , 1080p, I highly recommend it. For example with my ASUS STRIX GTX 970 playing League I get about 130-140 FPS with everything maxed out, that's also why you want 144Hz, for games like LoL, cs go, etc.
I have the BenQ XL2411Z 144hz monitor with an i5 4590, 8GB RAM, and a Sapphire R9 380X Nitro 4GB. I let my friend play some games on my pc since hes a console only gamer (Xbox One). He claims he can't tell the difference between console and my pc. He says it's a waste of money for bragging rights and has no effect. I know when I first switched from 60hz to 144hz monitor I didn't notice it either till I returned the monitor for a 60hz monitor. Then everything felt choppy and not smooth at all. Went back to get the 144hz monitor again and everything was smooth again so it's great for sure and worth the money.
2560x1080p 75Hz already needs a GTX1070TI and a brand new overclocked 6core CPU to drive recent popular games at decent visual-settings & VSync. so stop all that marketing bullshit! Nobody needs a 1000dollar-display and 2x Nvidia Titan-SLI just to drive Overwatch with 144 Fps!
There is not a big prize difference between 70Hz at 1440p and 144hz on Freesync monitors (about 19% difference), but when I missed the launch price of RX Vega 64 and did get in on the RX Vega 56 launch price, I choose 70Hz Freesync monitor for 1440p gaming. And, for anyone bored with gaming using 1080p monitor - going up to 1440p does really refresh and revitalize the gaming experience dramatically - those Ultra or Highest Preset really have a wow factor!
Hey! I know this video is almost a year old,but if u still check out the comments, could u give me an advice for what to buy for my PC specs? I've got an i7 6700k,16gb ddr4 hyperX Ram,gtx 1060 6gb card. I mean,I know what I need, but do u think it's worth getting a 240hz monitor or a 144hz is enough, and what do u think about the pannel,is tn better for gaming then ips because of the lower response time? I really don't know what exactly should I buy to be perfect (the budget is around 500-550 dollars btw)
You have a nice monitor and still: it's not an ideal monitor possible. Monitor has to be good for watching movies as well as for gaming/content creation. When do you think fast, similarly priced 4K ISP HDR 144HZ monitors of at least 32" size suitable for gaming would be available? In a couple years? Later than this? I mean: they have Acer Predator 4K 32" already, but it costs roughly over $1000 bucks!
I still use my 1680x1050 monitor for 2 reasons: It's 16:10, and it allows my 280X to go on ultra settings. But I would really like to upgrade to 1440p. But damn.... GPUs are just waaay to expensive right now. I would really like to get a 1070ish GPU for 250 bucks. (And no, here in Germany 980Tis are still expensive when bought used. At least since the mining GPUpocalypse)
I just got a new rig and i'm definitely looking at upgrading my 1080p 144hz display, I feel as if upgrading to 2k though won't make a huge difference considering how little there is in the pixel count, however 4k being stuck at 60hz at the moment due to hardware constraints I don't feel is a worth upgrade either. Any idea when 100hz+ 4k monitors might be arriving? Without costing a bomb (sub $1000). Hopeful then next gen GPUs will be a significant bump in performance when talking 4k gaming so going to sell and upgrade my 1080ti then anyway. (dependant on reviews). I appreciate the input regardless.
completely agree I cant go back to 60hz...spoiled myself smh...I have 1080Ti, 4k monitor, I game in 1080 at 120hz...how upsetting is that lol....ALSO most games in 4k though looking amazing, many aspects become too small for viewing, text and stuff....long as 4k has been around now its just still not fully implemented for gaming yet...the day I can 4k at 120hz or more I will throw my money at whatever company does it first
Science Studio I just want to say 3 things One in the USA prices are much cheaper then other countries and I live in Bulgaria where prices are fluctuated compared to the USA market. Two I bought a AOC Agon 32inch Curved 2560X1440p 144hz Freesync. One of the best valued monitors I could find where I live. Three there are no 4k monitors that are above 72hz. 72hz is the max at 4k resolution ,which is a actual a true fact at he moment. Ahh Communism... Dose not do well in a small country.
Hey Greg, I want get that massdrop vast. Its ultrawide 1440p, 100hz, and 35" for $550. I am going to put it above my current 60hz 1440p panel from acer. I want to keep a high resolution, I LOVE ultrawide, and I want to have a refresh rate higher than 60hz, as I can see a lot of choppiness when turning in games. Do you think an increase to 100hz is enough? For like $100 more, I can get a 35 inch 1080p ultrawide running at 144hz. Basically, do you think it is worth sacrificing resolution and some money for a 144hz refresh rate? Thanks, Mathias
I will probably go with a 1440p IPS 144Hz screen when I upgrade next. Will wait for the next generation of GPUs from either Nvidia or Radeon. Can't really justify replacing my GTX970 SLI rig just yet. Really looking forward to replacing my old Benq G2222HDL.
Using a 27'' 60Hz 1080p IPS screen, bought about 4 years ago. If I'm going to make an upgrade, it will be to a 4k IPS screen, preferably with freesync and a high refresh rate. The reason I think that 1440p is a bad choice, is because dropping the resolution to 1080p on a 4k screen will make each pixel from the graphics card take up exactly 4 pixels on the screen. That way I could enjoy 4k for all other content, and game at 1080p with a high refresh rate on a mid range gaming PC. If I were to drop down to 1080p on a 1440p display, it would create this weird washed-out effect you get on all LCDs when running on a resolution that isn't either native or smaller by a factor equal to a square of an integer. And 720p (the highest resolution below 1440p with which one can avoid that effect on a 1440p monitor) is a bit too low for my taste, and I would literally see pixels on displays bigger than 20''. It would also allow me to make "budget" upgrades to my PC without switching the monitor for a very long time. It will be a while until graphics cards in the $250-400 range will be able to handle 4k at 120+ fps, and such a monitor would allow for a smooth transition by first increasing the fps on 1080p and then switching to 4k when the PC can handle it at 60Hz, and then go from there. And the life span of that last graphics card that could initially get to 4k 120Hz will be really long too, namely until I have to play the new games at 1080p and below 60Hz again. So essentially it would be a monitor that could serve for over 10 years, until the technologies in it become so old they won't be supported by new hardware.
Cool stuff, thanks for sharing knowledge about monitors. I am from India and I am looking for budget 3440*1440p 120hz ultrawide monitors in popular Brands, like,LG,Dell, Samsung. Y becoz small companies brans products not available in India. Plz any suggestions.
I have a ViewSonic 1080p 60Hz monitor and it's horrible. Tearing is an issue and most of the pixels flicker randomly on certain colours, I'd like a 4K panel but I know an RX 470 isn't best put with a 4K panel so I think a decent 1080p 120hz monitor would be the best choice. I reckon I could hit 120 FPS on some games if I tune the settings a bit (most the games I play aren't too demanding)
Yap, he described my current monitor. 720p, 60hertz, TN panel , bad viewing angles. HAHAHA
Pio Lozano but it's so darn cheap!!!!!!!
I've been using it for 7yrs.
+Pio Lazano
there is nothing wrong with the resolution and refresh rate, but the panel, eww... TN... IPS or at least VA are the way to go.
IIIRattleHeadIII TN is fine looking head on. The resolution is what sucks
Actually, tn has improved a lot. TN these days is not bad, but old TN panels were really really bad.

is it just me or at 3:40 the 60fps is jittery and the 30fps is smooth?
I noticed the same thing, maybe a rendering problem?
I think Greg messed up a little here :D
if you are watching at less than 720p the video drops to 30fps. that is why 60fps was jittery.
theLMGN Didn't mess up. Just how it rendered. The other two examples are fine.
I'm watching this on my PC with a 60hz display at 1080p60
Last time I was this early I was using integrated graphics
I am on my pc rn:( saving up for 1070 rn tho lol
Fiverr how’d it go
Where do I find the 8k 420hz 0.000000000000000069ms oled ips va dank monitor?
Ken Liu gumtree
Make one.
Buy an apple monitor? Duh
In the future
Ken Liu 69ms response time?? Slow try getting 1ms
I have a 1440p monitor at 144Hz and just thought about looking at the operating frequency. I have been running it at 60Hz for 5 months 😭
Damn i feel you
bruh im here with 768p 60hz... thin k how i feel? btw 60hx is perfect cause if you dont have good pc you will never hit those 144hz well if you play games like csgo and older games then you sure hit but its just a waste of mone i in my opinion
Rip...
You would not believe how perfect this video’s timing is for me.
Awesome!
Man this is what makes your channel stand apart from the rest of the RUclipsrs.. Great video keep em coming
Much appreciated!
How does pornhub run on it?
I'm glad someone does because I see zero difference. For me, even the difference between 1080p and 4k is minimal.
@@randomlyentertaining8287 Then there's probably something wrong with your eyes or you're sitting far away from the screen
I'm rocking a 240p Monitor with 240hertz, nanoips led oled technology
Try getting into the used market. I got myself a 1080p 144Hz G-Sync Monitor for $170 including shipping off of Subreddit Hardwareswap.

It's TN. Gross.
Hey Greg can you do headphones and DAC next?
I'd recommend checking out Z Reviews and his Reddit page, though I really do think that Greg severely lacks audio equipment content and would love to see some here.
jbarah05 What’s your budget on headphones and the amp?
For a very well received entry level amp, I’d say the Schiit Magni 3.

What's your monitor???
Looking for a great 32" 1440p, with at least 75hz refresh rate and great color reproduction (for gaming and content creation). Any suggestions? I've searched a bit, but can't find much in this arena.
75hz is not common enough for that kind of monitor, finding a 60hz 1440p IPS panel would be much easier(maybe even 144hz), search around reddit a bit to find/ask some people
XR342CK by Acer, can personally recommend for both content and gaming. 34 Inch curved 1440p IPS 75hz
HP Omen 32.
Matt Cresswell is that 21:9 or 16:9 34"? I need 16:9.
Things You Might Like ahh, 21
4k has no point.. getting 1440p 144hz for my pc with a 1080 ti
Yeah they said that about 1080p as well. And it was just as stupid as you saying 4k has no point.
Should i get a 1080p 240hz monitor OR 1440p 144hz monitor?????
Plz answer this, i'm really stuck :P
Your 30 vs 60 comparison is horrible, both are choppy AF on a 144hz monitor.
Jani SIr and? It is choppy because it is.
it's choppy on all monitors, even on my 60Hz display.
This video is only in 60fps anyway.
it seemed like he got them backwards
RUclips only runs at 60fps bub
so would 3440x1440 IPS at 100Hz be a versatile sweetspot? :)
1440p 60Hz versus 1080p 144Hz is my issue, both cost $200 and I can't afford a 1440p 144Hz or $400.
Well, higher price for better specs
but doesn’t mean it has better panel manufacturing customer services
like today’s LG
Going from console at 1080p 60htz to PC 1440p 144htz. Mind blown.
24inch 1080p oc'ed to 75hz @1ms response time.
i prefer 75 hertz because most 60 hertz panels can be overclocked to it and it is noticeable over 60 hertz
Greg do you even vape? 💭
yer mum vapes
About a month ago, I was running an R5 1600 and a GTX 960 (had it for over 2 years) with a 1080p/144hz TN monitor. I just upgraded to a 1070 (scooped it up for $380). I think I made some good decisions, right?
CommonSense oh yeah
Red Ring of Death A LOT OF GOOD DECISION! It's like upgrading from that 960 to a 980 ti.
Yeah I just got a gtx 1070 for 320$ now I need a monitor to match it's glory
Greg, where'd you get that lamp? It's pretty sexy
yeah ikr
I know exactly what I want, it's just not in my budget. Video didn't help.
Off topic can you do a short video of that lamp in the background looks LIT that thing :) good monitor purchase guide 👍
Perfect video! I'm searching for a budget 21:9 for my GTX 1060/FX 8320 PC :D
Well i shouldn't complain about my 1080p 75Hz PLS Samsung screen but eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
It was an open box item (pretty much new) from MicroCenter that I got for $425 vs. the $500 they charge for the item new. www.microcenter.com/product/458837/s2716dg_27_led_g-sync_gaming_monitor
The monitor is TN, but it still has great viewing angles from the left and right sides, as well as from the top.
He did slo mo
Really liked that Viotec monitor, not available in Europe tho ;/
I must be mentally damaged because for me, 1080p and 60 FPS is at the very most what you need. 720p and 30 FPS at is perfectly playable. I honestly see very little difference in refresh rates or resolutions past 60 and 1080.
Not sure what to do with my setup. which would u use. both 1080p one 24in @ 144hz or a 27in @ 80 hz. I play a little bit of everything mostly shooters. I have a 4770k and 1070
60hz 1080p 24’ is my sweet spot cuz I’m broke
Lol my current monitor is this.. AOC e2450swh TN 24" 1080p 60hz
I have a i7 8068k with a 2080ti with 16gb ram. I should say I’ll be getting it in a little bit which monitor would you chose I want higher refresh rate with low response time 🤔🤔 any suggestions
The Dell S2716DG 27” 1440p@144hz is a great TN panel that when calibrated can look just like an IPS panel. Goes on sale often too.
I still don't know what type of monitor I should get. I play bf5 fortnite pubg csgo and more and im on 1080p 60hz now but I am really competitive in those games
Did you generate the first example @ 3:27 of 30 vs 60fps? idk wtf is going on but the 30 fps looks smoother to me...
That's how it looks to me too.
because of bad youtube compression
So worth it...
Well well well I just bought a 1440p monitor for 599. AOC Agon 144hz and 4ms response time anddd using the asus rog 1070ti.
I was a console gamer (PS1 to PS3) a long time ago (I also played CS on PC but never got to see 60 fps because of poor hardware). But after seeing 60 fps on pc, I was quite surprised. And after seeing 165 on an asus display....my mind exploded.
lol sadly still on 60hz
anikanbounty97 I am still at 60 Hz. I am thinking of buying 144hz soon.
Do it, its worth!
I'm currently watching on my old Dell 24 inch with TFT :( It still doesn't look bad though.
DrSpychology Plenty of 144Hz IPS panels out there that don't break the bank. We all say what we say about 4K for a REASON.
I would save like 2500$ and built a monster PC rather than paying 1000$ for complete bullshit stuff...
Yeah this is dumb tricking poor people into thinking anything over 60 is not needed. Play at 144hz for a week and comeback to 60
The best monitor you can get is the Eizo CG318-BK 4K monitor.
I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing, but I'd like to confirm with some techies who know more about this than I do:
In PCPartPicker, I selected the following:
ASRock Z170M Pro4S
2TB WD Blue
500GB Samsung 850 EVO
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB-3000Mhz
It said they were all compatible, but for some reason I couldn't find the board on ASRock's website to confirm, so can someone tell me if those parts are compatible?
I just got my 144hz monitor asus vg278q...i don't know why but i see no difference at all. I Used to game on 60hz Lg monitor...the colors are better actually but overall no big difference..
My Pc Specs Are
CPU : Intel Core i7 7700k
Graphics Card : Asus Strix GTX 1070 8G
Ram : 16GB Corsair vengeance Lpx 3200mhz
hello loved the vid i have a ques tho, which one would you choose this monitor....
Acer Predator XB321HK bmiphz 32-inch IPS UHD (3840 x 2160) NVIDIA G-Sync Widescreen Display (2 x 2w speakers, 4- USB 3.0 Ports, HDMI & Display Port)
or the viotek you have in your video?? im not sure why i cannot find the refresh rate of the acer monitor??
Hello , I enjoy watching your videos . I currently own a pretty decent PC in my opinion : RX 480 Gaming X 8 GB VRAM , i5 6600 non-K , MSI B150M Grenade , 16 GB RAM DDR4 2133 MHz , nJoy 650W 80+ gold but my monitor is pretty crappy (1440 x 900 75 Hz). What monitor should I get in order to get the best gaming experience ?
I finally decided to buy a 27 inch full HD monitor (TN) with 144 Hz for 235 US-D, I know that the pixel density is just 82 ppi, which is below the optimum of 90 - 100 ppi, but I had 4 Criteria:
- Large screen, suited for any task.
- A refresh rate that is so high that if I install a better graphics card, the monitor does not need to change to notice the added value
- Budget is 200 EUR or 235 US-D
- the bonus of AMD Freesnyc (range is 30 - 144 fps)
I could have also taken an IPS panel with 75 Hz or a 24 inch monitor with the same specs, but I wanted the big screen, low input and the sweet Freesnyc, so when I buy a new AMD graphics card, I would have a beautiful fluid gaming experience.
I got a 144 Hz monitor with 1ms response time on sale for $200. The screen size was 27" which is making it even a better deal
I'm a console gamer(XBOX-X) that games on a 55 inch 4k HDR TV and this March I will be building(with help) my first PC(GTX 1080TI) with most of the bells and whistles...Yes, I am a bit excited...
So my question:)
How much of a visual increase or decrease will I have going from that setup to sitting maybe (2 to 3ft?) away from a high end, high 150FPS, 32 to 35 21:9(wide) screen monitor????
Any advice on what GPU I should be looking at?
i really think the sweet spot is 1440p 120hz~144hz...
4k is just too demanding as of now
So i have Specs:
GPU: MSI AMD RX 580(4gb)
CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1400
MB: MSI B350M BAZOOKA
RAM: 8GB EVO POTENZA
OS: WINDOWS 10
I want a curved monitor and decent size what would you say would be a good monitor for me.(This is my first gaming pc)
How to buy a monitor video, and only talks about refresh rate, not a word about response time and matrixes. pathetic
I appreciate the input regardless.
completely agree I cant go back to 60hz...spoiled myself smh...I have 1080Ti, 4k monitor, I game in 1080 at 120hz...how upsetting is that lol....ALSO most games in 4k though looking amazing, many aspects become too small for viewing, text and stuff....long as 4k has been around now its just still not fully implemented for gaming yet...the day I can 4k at 120hz or more I will throw my money at whatever company does it first
Science Studio I just want to say 3 things
One in the USA prices are much cheaper then other countries and I live in Bulgaria where prices are fluctuated compared to the USA market.
