There are some absolutely chilling moments in the depths, like that one chasm that drops you onto a Frox with no light roots anywhere close, or exploring the Hebra depths and throwing a light-root only to see the shadow of a Colgera cast below. Seeing one of the three elemental dragons glowing in the darkness was pretty cool too though. More than any other Zelda game, I feel like this one really makes you embody that Courage that Link is supposed to represent, and the Depths plays a big part in that.
It's true. When I first discovered the depths they actually scared me so much. The immense darkness of everything was so unsettling. For the first while I literally would avoid going into the depths cause I would get anxiety exploring down there. Wasn't until I finally sucked in my fear and fought the lynels in the colosseum that I finally got over my fear of the depths. That fight alone gave me way more confidence to explore more of this game
Definitely watched this thinking you had at least 250k subscribers, nicely done! I went to read through the comments only to be shocked that their were only 2. I love the narration style and story telling 👌🏻
You eloquently said what I was feeling through out my first play through of this game. A common remark I made with friends who were also playing: "I was scared of this as a kid and ___ triggered me". Initially it was the depths. That unknown feeling. Like being under the well in OOT for the first time. The confusion of the being in another world like Link to the Past. Combined with redesigns of old monsters striking a new fear in me all over again. (Like the Gibdos.) I wanted to continue Link's journey, but I couldn't if I allowed my fear to hold me back. Like you, I also waited to explore the depths until I gained more hearts and experience to face those fears. I enjoyed every moment that TOTK gave me. Especially feeling like a kid. A kid who was scared, but determined to face my fears with a game I love. I never imagined I'd feel that again.
I like that you mentioned under the well from OOT because when it comes to Zelda games that really is the one that had me feel any sort of fearful unease. Same with shadow temple and forest temple to a lesser extent but mostly just because the wall masters always creeped me out a ton.
when i was playing i definitely started out throwing out constant light seeds. but maybe half way into my game play i realized i wasnt using them as much and was much more confidant running around in the darkness. it was a very satisfying feeling.
Same here. It was cool to have a better sense of the area in the darkness and the gloom is so bright there’s no mistepping in it. Of course getting the miner gear helps too.

So true. That courage is brought to another level here
