You have to understand the sport beyond what the media writes, the announcers say, and fan boys post. The last part - Fury isn't a serious fighter - is closer to the truth. He can box, he can fight, he's smart and he's got heart, but he's a very average, very ordinary fighter who crafted the illusion of greatness. His team did this through heavy self-promotion, big loud talk, slight exaggeration of his size (he's really 6'7, but now people associate "6-9" with Fury and he created this false illusion of biggest/best/most evolved), and lastly very careful cherry picking of sub par opponents. For the last one, you need to know Wilder can't really fight and has a worse resume than Fury (and Fury was his cherry pick gone wrong).
That's the stuff Usyk means. Not that he's like Wilder and can't really box, but that's the stuff he means.
No, lol, Fury isn't in Usyk 's head. The man was born in the days of the former Soviet Union and raised in Ukraine. He fought over 350 amateur fights and won most of them. He beat 5 elite cruiserweights who would all outbox Fury and make him look like he has two left feet - and they're better than anyone on Fury's resume when you consider Wlad was 39 and shot (still almost one and Fury shamelessly ducked the mandatory rematch).
Fans think Fury is playing mind games. He's self promoting for one. He also was ducking Usyk and stalling for three years while Usyk aged. Fury can't box with Usyk. He'll need to grab, clinch, lean, and foul if he is to have any chance and historically Usyk is too fast for that crap. But, he is now 37 and if he's slowed enough, you never know. Fury waited and stalled, "retiring" and "unretiring" and making absurd demands (one Usyk accepted so Fury had no other to duck him than to "retire." Usyk first showed signs of aging against DuBois, so then all of a sudden it wasn't so complicated for Fury to sign for the fight three years later. But, he ducked Usyk for three years, and fought two chinny, over the hill, plodding maulers and an MMA fighter who had no clue how to box, in his first boxing match, who was at least 37 and likely older than billed, and weighed 272 on a bum knee - and Ngannou still damn near won and it's fair to say he got robbed.
But Fury isn't in Usyk 's head. If Usyk has at least 85% of his speed left or if the referee finally enforced the rules on Fury's excessive fouling and holding and wrestling, then Fury will get exposed for what he is - a very average fighter who manufactured the illusion of greatness that the media pushed and fan boys and casual viewers ate up.
