We are skipping San Juan Del Sur on our upcoming trip. Probably going to hit up Ometepe since the geography is interesting. I’m not opposed to the tourist traps but we want to see more of the country not just beaches! 😊
Sjds is definitely on the Gipsy road to Nirvana. Just tell everyone to go to SJDS and get that Bohemian/Hippy new age vibe out of their systems and then look elsewhere to live!
I've been up to the mountains a lot, those videos are very popular for me. But Corn Islands, no. So far away and costly. Not a casual trip and I think a lot of us like traditional Nicaragua so Caribbean Islands aren't a huge draw like they tend to be for tourists.
That's Rivas the city, but I don't think so. SJDS and La Virgen are IN Rivas, the departmento. La VIrgen is where people stopped as that's where the boats left the lake. SJDS is where they entered the ocean. SO likely people were telling you that Rivas the region had people from the gold rush, but doubtfully Rivas the city.
Rivas has super places you will not find anywhere else. Breezes from Lake Nicaragua keep the beaches cool. VERY important. Nowhere else do the mountains come down to the sea; that's why so many from Santa Barbara own there. Lala Guacalito, Redonda Bay, Haienda Iguana Beach and Golf Resort, Rancho Santana, Popono Beach...these are places where real Nicaraguans come to vacation; each are highly sought after places to live if your Spanish isn't strong....
Three years here, I don't know a single Nicaraguan that has even heard of those expat enclaves. They are definitely not common for Nicaraguans to go to.
You are actually the most interesting chanel about an expat in Nicaragua❤❤❤
awwww.... thank you :)

Hey Scott, have you been to Selva Negra, Cañón de Somoto or Corn Island? I always see that even locals only explore the Pacific side.

@@ScottAlanMillerVlog Nicaraguans From Rivas go to those beaches
Well... One thing for sure... It is one of the ugliest city i have seen in my life! What a disaster compared to Granada!

The one from which you take a ferry to beautiful Ometepe!
