    I'm really enjoying this Fairlane wagon build. I'm currently swapping in a 302/AOD in my 63 Mercury Meteor. Fun at every turn!😉The AOD is snug in the tunnel, the top 2 bellhousing bolts are real tight in there. Good stuff in your videos.

    Jeff I just found out a few minutes ago that Mustangs Unlimited after 44 years of being in business has gone out of business. Man that really bites. They always had what I needed for my 67 Mustang. I know that this does not have anything to do with this video ,but I thought that the word needed to get out there for the folks who did not know about this.

      That is sad. I knew that they had struggled for a good while.

      Jeff yeah it is. I wonder what happened to all of the parts that they had in their warehouse.? I hope someone like NPD or CJ Pony parts bought them out.

    Really cool. I'm going to be doing exhaust on the Fairmont soon (my first) that exhaust pipe cutter may be key for me!

    I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but what wheels are those. And what size? I think they would look great on my 68 Mustang and if I am able to weather this virus, I'd like to get some.

    So the trans cross member is what gave you the excessive 4.5* CL driveline down angle. (U joints)
    Not modifying the floor pan has caused another situation.
    Is the engine perched on 302 mounts? If it were then the factory angles/ clearances would be there.
    Just thinking.

      Actually it's a tunnel that's the biggest problem. It next down pretty severely at the back of the transmission and that's what's causing the problem. The 4 R 70 W transmission has a vent tube in the very top center of the output housing. This vent tube is also colliding with the floor pan. We could go in and use different motor mounts but most guys aren't going to want to spend the two to $300 on a set of custom motor mounts for this application. Like Dad always told me there's more than one way to skin a cat. This is just the way we choose to go at this point.

    I got a tech question for you, my 85 vette the idler started squeaking today. would you replace the entire assembly or just the pulley. I've always replaced the whole assembly. The spring assembly is working perfect nice and tight. I'm afraid if I buy an after market puelly it won't fit tight and I'll issues down the line...

      Idler pulley bearings are usually easily replaceable, and inexpensive.

    Hi Jeff, What about the 1972-79 Ranchero, Any problems with running the exhaust on them?

    • @hotrodray6802
      @hotrodray6802 4 года назад

      The 72+ are full frame cars. Totally different chassis. Almost nothing in common. Modern transmissions clear well.
      I did a 72 wagon recently.

      Also failed to say I've done a couple 72+ Rancheros also.

      I would have to look at it but I don't think it's really an issue like hot rod is saying Dave does not right now have an exhaust system for these vehicles either.
