Most def. I was a huge Nirvana fan as a teenager. I remember when the ‘teen spirit’ video first came out, I was hooked. Back in those pre-internet times one of the best ways to discover new bands was through kurt’s t-shirts & his interviews...dude was always trying to hip us to new music. Thanks to Kurt I found out about Daniel Johnston, Shonen Knife, the vaselines, K Records (not a band but pretty much anything they put out is fantastic), Bikini Kill, Flipper, Mudhoney, the shaggs, and on & on & on. oh god, & Leadbelly!!! Can’t forget about him. I could probably list bands/artists he turned me onto all day.
+Tomás Orellana Kurt is in hell, but like not in a bad way. You know how Dave Grohl played the devil in Tenacious D? Well Kurt is hanging out with Devil Dave Grohl in hell playing a guitar on fire and having fun
+Matt “ςυтιє вσσту” The Wolf he's just everywhere and I love it. He's in heaven with Bowie playing the man who sold the world and in hell bc we all knew that would happen and he's still right next to me Bc I'm wearing a shirt with his face in it
MarquisSmith I think it's a little bit of both, but it's more the Vaselines, because if it were a boy, he would have named him Eugene, also after one of the members.
I'm sitting here crying my ass off. I by chance found this video and, oh fuuuuck. Talk about your "Trip down memory lane. I'm so blessed to have seen Nirvana, And the Vaselines. This was a amazing time for music, having come up in the LA punk seen Bands like this were the natural progression for me. I really feel lucky to have been the right age at the right time and place. Seeing so many great bands, and getting to know some of the smartest, most talented people who were amazing. I believe that people like Kurt come along one in a lifetime and like the candle that burns brightest. Kurt and several other special talented vanguards burned fastest. We lost so many of them. But what we gained, that is incalculable. 🤘🏻
Sitting in mental hospital's coffee room at 07:00, staring through the window with my blank look, before any medication and I feel such fulfillment in my soul.
Im sure they were asked. The reason the induction preformance sucked so much ass is because all the people that would've done it didn't want to be apart of the cash grab it was. The Hall of Fame is anti-punk (inb4 "the ramones were inducted" the ramones can do what they want, they wrote the book.)
Lithium was written about a part of Kurt's life where he spent time with a different family due to parent issues and that family was very much Christian. It's basically a mockery of Christianity and religion but based from that time in his life. It was indeed written by Kurt Cobain
Yes, every line is about religion/superstition when you break it down. Kurt was so ahead of his years especially with spirituality etc, naming the band after Buddishm and stuff. I think a lot of Lithium is about living life as a monk. 'shaved my head' etc
Wouldn't say it's a mockery, more a thematic exploration of religious ideas from a viewpoint of skepticism. "Everyday is Sunday for all I care," ..."Light my candles in a daze cause I found God." Some of the lines are truly hard to pin-down as an expression of anything very definitive, which is often the case with his lyrics. They keep you wondering what exactly he's talking about, and they make you think.
I like the creepy rendition of this song!... i love it!!... good job covering it guys !!!...btw i would like to recommend everyone hear the band 10 years covered heart shaped box with a creepy vibe as well and a good job too... i love everyone who loves Nirvana enough to cover them.... its almost 20 years since the saddest day of my life... R.I.P. Kurt Cobain my most honored fallen hero!
I always like to think that they knew how much Kurt loved them and how he covered their songs and thought I'd be nice to do one of his songs for him after he passed💙
1:05. I love how they said "I'm so lonely, that's okay I shaved my head". Kurt sang that instead of the actual lyrics when they played Lithium live. A nice little touch (:
I laugh when people comment completely erroneous things. Like you're on the internet... It's not hard to verify that Kurt loved the Vaselines, Nirvana covered "Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam," "Molly's Lips," and "Son of a Gun" and that this is a cover of Nirvana by the Vaselines. Think, then type.
'Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam' is the name of the song. Google, then type (or, just buy the album and read it off the track listing). At least now you can define irony by example :-)
Eldon Stracke II The Vaselines re-released the song in 1992 on the compilation albums The Way of The Vaselines: A Complete History and All the Stuff and More. On All the Stuff and More, the title was changed slightly to "Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_Wants_Me_for_a_Sunbeam #fail

So happy I've found Vaselines covering nirvana. I'm doing a week of posting influences of Nirvana on my Instagram page (vforvinylrecords 😅👍) and covered the Vaselines. One of my followers told me Vaselines had covered this track and I couldn't wait to hear it. Really like the version they've done and can imagine Kurt loving the Vaselines covering his track!
A lot of Nico solo, VU, something of the one Portished album i've ever bought (don't remember the name) and some little thing from Bjork too. Very interesting and original
And the only time i ever heard of kurt talking of a favorite band. Was in 92. When he said Raw power by the stooges was his favorite album. Beyond that he never had favorites
Nirvana love The Vaselines and the Vaselines loves Nirvana......
Really? I know kurt loves the vaselines, but i just knew the vaselines also loves nirvana. I thought they were in different generation😁😁
Nirvana and The Vaselines made music at the same time. Late 80's and early 90's
Lithium is covered by the vaselines, so i think they, at least, like Nirvana.

i've never heard this version until now. that so cool how both bands covered each other's songs.
Citi I like how this cover give more emotion
Kurt would've freaked if he found out they covered his song! He loved the Vaselines so much!
The Vaselines were one of his favorites. He even named his child after one of the members!
I thought his daughter was named after Frances Farmer? Good to know.
MarquisSmith I think it's a little bit of both, but it's more the Vaselines, because if it were a boy, he would have named him Eugene, also after one of the members.
MarquisSmith it is after the member in vaselines she is named
TheBUBDUB Kurt covered several musics from the vaselines too... he would much appreciate.
This song gives me the music chills. Its just so calm, and relaxing.
I felt like I was floating up to heaven.
Couldn't have put it better myself :)
So true
ME too.
I smoked a bowl while listening. Trust me when i say i met Kurt in heaven

What a send off. Genuine display of respect. Teared up watching this.
it's so sweet that Kurt loved the Vaselines so much and they were a dream for him to even see them, and that when he died they sung for him...
Manly tears have been shed.
"we do it the Vaselines way"
A beautiful tribute to Nirvana from a band who genuinely understood where Kurt and Nirvana's music and ethos came from. Love to The Vaselines.
This is no doubt the most amazing thing I've heard in a long time
+Ruben Fawaka Not the most "amazing", but totally unique!
Really? It’s pretty terrible
If I wanted a particular song at my funeral, it would be this. As much as I love the original, this seems to fit my funeral better.
sounds like my parents in a argument on oxycodone
wow thats astute

I like the different sound. I think this is how covers should be done, playing the song in the band's style instead of a carbon copy of the original

It's such a beautiful goodbye message.
This cover is actually quite phenomenal. The chosen combination of organ sounds and vocals works strikingly well for this song.
Sitting in mental hospital's coffee room at 07:00, staring through the window with my blank look, before any medication and I feel such fulfillment in my soul.
Her voice totally compliments Kurts
Wow had no idea they covered this. This is amazing.
If you're going to do a cover then make it totally different from the original.
This I love.
I wish they would have chosen them, and the meat puppets for induction performance at RRHOF.
Pitchokey 666
I know right? I did not care too much for the performance that night. Nothing against any of the performers.
Yeah, the choices they made were terrible!
