I own one and love it... BUT I can't figure out how to clean the lid and NOT get the entire unit wet with running water!! If water get in the circuits, it will not turn on until it is bone dry and it takes forever (DAYS!!) for the inside to dry out. The lid MUST be very clean before use! NOT sterilizing the lid can cause food poisoning and maybe worse.

Same struggle here. Have you figured it out yet? It overflows all of the time, even with small batches of rice, so the lid gets messy, and I can only sponge it 🥲

@@aidisnotapotato1132 Eh, no. Still being very careful using scrubbing the inner lid with a dish scrubbing brush and soap. Frustrating, eh? You DO have to make sure the lid is clean before use, or you'll get one mean nasty case of food poisoning.

Is the 20 cup version too much for one person
Or is the 8 cup version a better choice?

So the whole reason I got the 20 cup version was for meal prep. 20 cups made 20 meals, 1 cup per meal so I could cook a whole work week of lunches and dinners with it.
For one person, 20 cups could prep for a full 7 day week just about.
I guess the real question you've got to ask yourself is if you would ever need to cook 20 cups of rice. If you just make rice for yourself occasionally, the 8 cup is plenty.
