@@robertr3470I think it’s dumb that tax payers money should ever subsidize billion dollar corporations. “But they create jobs!” Give that money to smaller local businesses, and their growth will also create jobs.
Lemme tell you what will happen when they get to Texas. First, all the higher paying positions will be given to those willing to relocate. So not as many jobs for Texans. CAian employees leave, so in theory, more housing becomes available, but some will keep their house vacant, some airb&b, and some become rentals. If the homeowners sell, well, they immediately get sold to investment companies, not actual CAians wanting to own their own home.
So, ok, back to TX: their own property values rise because of the increased demand for housing, and because CAians are already comfortable with paying high prices anyway. This brings the existing housing crisis CA has to Texans who had a low cost of living, but now can’t afford anything, as minimum wage is still $7.25, and there are no unions. Those who were lucky to already own homes no longer can afford to keep them because property values skyrocketed, and they can’t afford the annual taxes. The increased population also creates over crowded schools and traffic, which now become the burden on TX tax payers to fix. Oh, but you’re thinking, maybe TX will become a swing state and go blue. No. That never happens. Communities that already have large groups of CAian relocaters still remain red.

Not surprising that Chevron is leaving and probably for the best. The US and world is shifting toward electric but California is fast tracked to clean energy consumption which is great. It was only a matter of time. These oil companies days are indeed numbered. Oil jobs are being switched to cleaner energy jobs and I see no problem with that.
