Made this recipe last week and the mussels were superb! I'm a garlic freak, so I always add more. Don't plan to make this recipe unless you have some decent hearty bread to soak up all the goodness. Try this classic recipe - you deserve it! Thanks for posting.
My favourite too! I can remember having them on a beach on a tiny gas burner after my brothers and i collected them with my dad...while my mum sorted out tiny amounts of garlic, butter etc that she'd brought with us..there's nothing better with some really good french bread...though now im more likely to drink the leftover wine as well!
Make my mussels the same way. Delicious. Thanks for sharing for those who did not know a simple way to make mussels... I would add one suggestion.. Some people are allergic to wine.. Clam broth would be a flavorful substitute... Love your recipes....
When its a home cooked "date night" with my wife, this is my go to mussel recipe. Have made this many times in the last few years. Simple, quick and very tasty. I love your detailed, step by step instructions too. Anybody can follow a recipe but your added nuances make me a better cook. @ 48 second mark - if you don't like that much garlic, PLEASE use less. If you like more....... use more
I do them similarly, but I finish the broth off with a bit of fish broth, and a bit of heavy cream. Love mussels, so quick and easy! PS, never force a shell opened. If it won't open by itself, garbage! It was dead before you cooked it.
I have so many clams and mussels videos on this channel. I feel like I'm always talking about cleaning mussels and clams and letting them open on their own, but maybe I forgot to mention in this video. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Peg! Normally Costco's mussels are pretty good. They have the date they were harvested and shipped on them, so you know if they are fresh. I'm not sure how many other other places do the same.
You can use cooking wine. But how much does that cost? You can get a pretty decent full size bottle of white wine for $8-10. Stick it in the fridge and make a few dishes with it.
@@SipandFeast Thanks for your response and suggestion. It's just that I'm not a regular cook. ;) More of a once-in-a-blue-moon type of cook. LOL. So, for logistical reasons, I thought the smaller bottle would work better. I don't drink alcohol either. What kind of white wine would you recommend, anyway? I did search before posting my question, and there were so many to choose from.
The recipe from my place on the french atlantic coast : - 1 minced Onion, 2 minced schallots, 2 crushed garlic gloves -salted butter, olive oil - parsley, celery leaves, thym, bayleaf -white wine
My wife and I made these last night! Amazing! Thank you for the recipe!
Great recipe have to try it for Christmas Eve. Thanks!
Know what I'm having for dinner tonight 🤤😅. Sounds and looks great 👍😅
Pure and simple, like it that way. Some of the best recipes are the simple ones. Thanks for sharing
James, you knocked out it out of the park with this video. Glad to see you're doing your thing on RUclips these days!
Hey thanks Peter! I'm enjoying making videos more than ever. I wish I started RUclips years ago.

Glad you enjoyed the mussels! The bread is definitely needed!
what realy impressed me was you cooking on a single burner stove, not everybody does that. ❤️💯👑

Wow this looks great! I love mussels marinara so I think that I would enjoy this too!
Thanks Josh! Maybe I'll make it for you guys soon!
I followed your recipe. I adjusted the measurements because I had 6 lbs of mussels. It was a hit 🎉. Thank you 😊
Trying it tonight….thanks for demo..👍👏

If you can't do wine, use seafood stock/clam juice, and finish it with a splash of balsamic vinegar for brightness.
I make this almost exactly the same way. I just swap out shallots for garlic. Delicious and simple.
Thanks! Shallots are great with it.
Just got back from the sea food market. Will be making this afternoon.
Thanks for making it Bob and letting me know you enjoyed it on IG.
Omg that looks devine

Were hosting xmas eve, gonna put this over pasta!
Hope it's a hit!
Made this recipe today. It was absolutely brilliant.. Thanks a ton!
That's great man! Appreciate the feedback.
It’s 11:20 pm and now I want mussels!
haha. That's the best time to eat!
Thank you it looks good
Thanks very much!
One of my fav seafood dishes, but have never had the confidence in knowing a good from a bad mussel, to make it.

Sip and Feast Thx for your reply, who knows I could get brave and get myself to Costco 😉 As always, another great video and recipe!
@@SipandFeast It's easy to tell with mussels, if they are still closed after cooking they are bad. Only the fresh, live ones will open up.
Lets not forget an nice loaf of Semolina bread....Yum
Definitely need the bread! Thanks for the comment.
Outstanding great
I noticed that there was no lemon. Do you use any at some point?
Thanks 🙏🏽
Bravo
What about the shallots???
Wegmans mussels are clean as well.
Most places are, but it doesn't hurt to give them a look over.
Would you ever consider thickening the sauce and serving the whole thing over spaghetti?
That would be great! Maybe remove the mussels, toss the pasta to get the sauce just right, than add the mussels back in to each plate.
Can I use margarine instead of butter? Cuz i dont have butter. Also in parsley, i only have dried parsley. I dont have fresh parsley. Is it ok?
Dried doesn’t give the freshness.
My favorite yummmmm🥰🥰😛😛😛
Thanks! Did you try this recipe or is it just your favorite seafood dish in general?
Is White cooking wine ok to use for this recipe, or does it have to be fancy white wine?

How about pasta fazul pasta fagiole
Definitely on the list! I was going to do a video with pasta fagioli vs pasta e ceci, but might separate them.
@@SipandFeast sounds great.
Use perry thank me later
Oh boy, that non-stick pan's ruined after cooking the mussels.
